    There, fixed that for you. 99.99999% of all spam is immediately recognizable as BULLSHIT by anyone with half a brain. Anyone who buys any of the crap from a bulk email quite frankly deserves to lose their money. They made a conscious and voluntary choice to get that cheap v1agra and rolexes, and they chose poorly.

    I have no love for spammers, and I wouldn't mind not having to empty out my Junk mail folder everyday. But the sheer amount of raw hatred you and everyone else has for them - why? Seriously, is it THAT big a deal to filter out some junk mail? There are far worse crimes in the world being perpetrated every day.

    Herbert's work is always wonderful.

    You obviously never read past book 3 of the Dune series.
    Dune - FANTASTIC book. One of my favorites.
    Children of Dune - Another great book.
    Dune Messiah - Good.
    God-Emperor of Dune - Eh...
    Heretics of Dune - Utter crap.
    Chapterhouse Dune - Even more crap than the above

    And so on. I couldn't bring myself to read anymore.

    Yeah, if you could fit a telegraph in your pocket and use it inconspicuously when you're in a social situation in which it would be either rude or inconvenient to take/make a phone call.

    Odds are if you're in a situation where it's rude to make a phone call, it's probably just as rude (if not worse) to fake paying attention while you text instead of *GASP* dealing with the real, live people right in front of you.

    The big problem for the victim here is that RSA with a key that big can't be brute-forced in any sort of reasonable time on current computers. But what about using FPGAs, something like this?
    Is RSA immune to these kind of solutions? As I understand it* the inherent parallelism of FPGAs makes them well-suited to this kind of thing
    *based on Wikipedia and a single university course in VHDL coding.

    It IS a waste when throwing money at the school system accomplishes nothing. For proof, look at the Los Angeles Unified School District in California. The district's ranked somewhere damn close to the very bottom of the nation in student proficiency for reading, math, and everything else that's measured. Despite this, they still con the voters out of more and more money every year.

    Yo. (Hopefully) future embedded software engineer right here. Currently majoring in Computer Engineering with a CompSci minor. I actually just enrolled in an embedded applications class this semester. Seems like a popular class, too - offered fairly often, and good enrollment each time from what I hear.
    Even though the majority of the CS classes at my university are Java-based, there're still required architecture classes that use assembly and C, along with several EE courses. Just because many colleges are abandoning lower-level programming doesn't mean they all are.

    How about the Vita chambers are spread farther apart (or cut in half)? or how about a limited # of respawns... something like 10 total. Or maybe turning off the Vita chambers entirely, like the summary says you can do?
