I remember playing a bootleg version of thrill kill, and while it maybe wasnt the BEST game ever, it was certainly playable. Its probably horribly dated by todays standards, but that doesnt mean that at the time it wasnt good.
Ive also played Wu-tang, and that game sucks.
Thrill kill was violent, but it wasnt exceptionally so. Its the standard "cartoon" violence in games like mortal combat, of exploding people with a fist or ripping their hearts out - certainly enough to shock the censors, but not enough to affect me.
Its easy to slate games when no-one can remember or defend it, but how about picking on a game that actually SUCKS next time?
(extra note: theres something amusing about fighting with a character in a straightjacket, and still kicking your opponents ass. Look mum, no hands!)
Im not trying to troll: ive played WoW, and its a really good game. But blizzard see their gamers as money funnels, nothing else. And it shows.
A collectable card game? Releasing an expansion before the bugs in the main game are even nearly done? Their piss poor customer service? (forums, or the "fantastic" ask slashdot they gave) The fact that on my server, getting a response from a GM in less than a week was a good thing? (not unique to my server)
And now theyre scanning your computer for anything they dont like.
Like i said, good game. But i quit WoW some time ago, and unless they actually decide to start treating players as more than stupid walking money, im not going back.
I personally love wikipedia. Yes, Im aware that it CAN be wrong, but Ive not had any problems with it so far. (That I know of)
Compare wikipedia to something along similar lines, but more "professional". Such as the encyclopedia britannica. Wikipedia can be wrong, sure. But so can the encyclopedia britannica. And wikipedia is more likely to be up to date with current events.
The encyclopedia britannica most likely wont have its page on Time Cubism or Scientology graffitid. But then, does it even have those pages?
You get what you want from it. Youd be an idiot to 100% believe everything in it, but then Id argue the same holds true for anything. Always double check your facts- hell, triple check - if its important. Otherwise, for people like me who don't write scientific papers for a living, it does the job fine.
1) Geeks, as a rule, hate sport. Yes, there are exceptions. 2) Jocks, as a rule, hate computers. Yes, they can work them. 3) Everyone in the world, as a rule, hates baseball. Yes, there are americans.
I know im gonna get modded troll, but to hell with it.
Im not american, so I never experienced what 9/11 was actually like (although I have lived through terrorists knocking out planes, buses, and most of ireland). With that in mind:
seriously, get a grip. Not everything is a direct result of what america wants to believe is the worlds worst tragedy. Hey, if every writer was british, that means there was no asian writers! They must all be traumatised by that big wave thing! (you know, killed like a billion people) But wait, theyre all foreigners, so fuck em.
Cant we just accept that maybe this year Britian got lucky, or had a decent skill team, or something else? Isnt it about time America started taking responsibility for things? For all slashdotters go on about parents taking responsibility for looking after children, maybe you can say "well, 9/11 was certainly a tragedy, but for it to cripple my writing for 4 years is a bit extreme, especially when I didnt even know anyone involved?"
It may shock some of the people in the industy today, but making a crap game then spending £6billion on making it look really, really pretty doesnt make the game any better.
How about instead of all the stupid gfx, they make something thats fun? Or, even better, something that runs on peoples computers?
I bought "tellytubby adventures", reverse engineered the binary, extracted the graphics files and replaced them with nudie pics off the net, recompiled it and when i ran the game THERE WERE NAKED WOMEN IN THE GAME! Its a game designed for children, for gods sake! Whats the world coming to? >_>
Being a (now ex) wow player who partook in many battlegrounds, the reason the horde normally "suck" is because alliance generally outnumbers them 2-1.
I loved the idea of battlegrounds, and i honestly dont think the map itself innately leads to one side being superiour over the other (several stupid considerations aside, like the horde back door or the impenatrable alliance bridge).
However, you cant win against superiour numbers. On my server, games often started 10-40 and got worse from there.
Its like blizzard took everything that made sense about online games and ignored it.
Im pretty sure that life has already been seen on the moon and mars (bacterium attached to the various space probes we keep sending up there). So 60% are right.
I have downloaded firefox like 30 times. Due to installs, re-installs, upgrades, downgrades, and just for the hell of it, it mounts up.
Not to say this isnt an achievement... one of my progects is currently on about 50 downloads, after 3 years. But still, I'd like to see more concrete numbers than downloads.
Gratz, ffox:)
Maybe slightly offtopic, but Im a huge fan of the works of Richard Joseph.
He's made such great music on the amiga such as Gods, Cannon Fodder, Chaos Engine and more. I even have some of the music from these games ripped into mp3 format.

I especially liked this years halloween special, where Jick wiped the servers.
Still, its not like I REALLY needed all those Mr Accessories....

Wish I had mod points, not often I literally laugh out loud reading slashdot.
3 points:
1) Geeks, as a rule, hate sport. Yes, there are exceptions.
2) Jocks, as a rule, hate computers. Yes, they can work them.
3) Everyone in the world, as a rule, hates baseball. Yes, there are americans.
So how well, exactly, is this gonna do?
*side note: didnt RTFA.
Appears the person who gave the original quote is (?) British.
He's still a tool though.

Just as well, i was away to send a million pounds but thought "oh no! im not a member! theyll never accept my non-space-geek cash!"
Or an american who doesnt give a rats ass about the planet.
(not trying to troll, honest, but ditch the SUVs and sign the fucking kyoto treaty. its not that hard)
Reminds me of a story about "non-lethal weapons" I saw on tv some time back.
Essentially, they produced a super stink bomb that would cause large crowds to either disperse or be faced with crippling nausea and illness.
So they got a bunch of it, dropped it in caves where people where hiding, and then shot the lot of them when they came out.
Sometimes non-lethal weaponry is just used to make the lethal weapons that much more effective.

If you steal other ppls quotes, try to do it before someone else links the previous article.
Ive written an advanced bot, plz hire me.
Im from scotland, and ive never heard of it either. Im pretty sure anyone that said "wonga" would get punched as well.

Akk. apologies if this multiple posted...
1) Get bunch of writes to write "crappy" novel
2) Advertise how bad it is on slashdot
3) Profit!
Just because its horribly bad doesnt mean some of you wont be buying it out of curiosity.

I resent this sterotype that I "lock myself in my room and create my own reality".
Im playing World of Warcraft: surely thats Blizzards trademarked reality?
