Maybe New Scientist editors read Slashdot for their news, which then Slashdot user read for more news. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw this article in New Scientist next month.
If there is no longer a channel that appeals to geeks, why not create one? I'm see a huge market potential for it. There'd be millions watching it. Probably all the real geeks from TechTV would fly over, giving the channel some talent.
There is no problem with pointing them at airplanes far, far away flying overhead in mid-flight. However, this poses a huge problem for airplane pilots on approach or right after takeoff.
>Why would anyone want to use an Intel chip or an AMD chip is beyond me. All that backwards-compatible legacy circuitry eating up real-estate on the die.
You gotta always be prepared just in case you find yourself stuck with your computer in 1981, without software or the hard drives.
Actually it would be C:\Documents and Settings\Mars Rover Mission\My Documents\My Pictures. NASA wouldn't dare risking the Mars mission to Windows 95/98! Only the best for the Mars rovers: Windows Server 2003 with the Workstation hack installed!
They tried setting a record with the Ford Escape Hybrid but it rolled over. The Insight mysteriously dissappeared after that incident, although a hunk of metal was discovered under the Escape.

According to the NORAD Santa tracker, Santa's position is where today changes into tommorow (I don't know what the exact name of the boundry is). By precisely between today and tommorow, he falls into a rift in time that allows him to do his thing!
Instead of running multiple operating systems on one processor, could it fundamentally change the way an operating system runs on a computer?
Also, if you were to run multiple operating systems, how would you switch between them? Would you have a key combination (like the apple and enter keys that switched between a mac and pc on hybrid systems back in the day) that would allow you to switch or would you be running a super OS that would let you see what each OS is doing at each moment?
Or, would you have a multiple graphics card setup that will have an independant terminal for each OS?
Lotsa unanswered questions there...
Torturing hardware? Cutting out eye candy? How graphically violent! Either that or I've been playing too much of Doom 3.
Look closer
Isn't this the joke those two got arrested for? I read it somewhere but can't find it now...
Yea, it's in the article...
I meant this for the mobile phone story, but I guess it still sorta applies...
Won't it make you look like the crazy bum at the park?
I know its NASA and I know they wouldn't play tricks on us, but... it looks like it's a bad photoshop job. Anyone else with that impression?
...or they'll just shoot laser beams out of their eyes. Simple as that.
It won't be long before the Communist steam roller is rolling along quickly across the information superhighway!
Can't wait till I'm using 802.11fu. OH, how horrible!

32-bit operating systems can use 64-bit filesystems (e.g. XFS) which have no practical size limits.
Wait 10 years...
...does that mean they'll be releasing keygens for all their games?
It would be interesting to see what it could do for off-roading.
If this had been destined for Longhorn, I'm sure the 'Scan' button would take up half of the screen. (...think back button, there you go...)
Sounds like ghetto slang to me...
How many licks does it take to get to the inside of a comet?

Slashdot Channel anyone?

Evolution at work!
I know where he lives!
