Have people lost the ability to Google for answers before pestering other people? After about 5 seconds I found this:

    You're welcome. =P

  2. Pen and paper? on How To Enter Equations Quickly In Class? · · Score: 1

Why don't you just write the equations down in a notebook, then put a number into your typed notes? You can LaTeXify the equations (or embed them in whatever way you choose) after class.

  4. Re:Prior art on Microsoft Patents 'Proactive' Virus Protection · · Score: 1

Yes, but they're never going to do that; security doesn't sell OSes, it's eye-candy that does. 60% of the people I know don't have a firewall, or understand why one is important. The end-user market doesn't understand why security is important, or why they should have it, and it's why crappy companies such as Microsoft and Apple have managed to monopolise the market; they give people what they understand and want, not what they need, and it's exactly the same reason more people don't use F/OSS software/OSes like Linux.

  5. Possible hack? on Spore, Mass Effect DRM Phone Home For Single-Player Gaming · · Score: 1

I hope it doesn't use the system clock, because you could just freeze/rewind it. I would totally LOL if that works.

  6. Re:So I guess... on Apple Cuts Off Linux iPod Users · · Score: 1

Exactly! You can just install iPod Linux (http://ipodlinux.org/Main_Page), and circumvent this whole thing. Also, if people do that, it means less people will be using iTunes as well, so Apple have really just injured themselves.

  7. Flash already dominates on Silverlight Released, Linux Version Coming · · Score: 1

Flash already dominates the 'interactive web applications' market. I fail to see why anyone would bother learning Silverlight's equivalent to AS, and bother moving over. Virtually every GUI-based Internet user uses Flash, which is already supported on Linux, and in loads of browsers too. Personally, I doubt there will be any success with Silverlight, unless it's significantly cheaper than Flash. Even then, I doubt people will bother to download the client unless it is widely used, which it won't be because nobody will have it, it's a vicious circle.

  8. Just a thought, but... on Why is Microsoft Patching XP? · · Score: 1

  10. Sure we do! on Do Kids Still Program? · · Score: 1

I write Python and Perl scripts every now and then and do the fair bit of VB programming. And I churn out HTML like there's no tomorrow. I made my first site when I was 11 with a notepad and a pencil. I'd say us kids do still program.

  11. Further modifications=Barcode scanner? on Turn an Optical Mouse into a Scanner · · Score: 2, Interesting

With a bi more tweaking to the code, the mouse could possibly be made into a linear, perhaps even 2D :-)) barcode scanner. Barcode scanners can be expensive. Optical mice don't come cheap, but cost significantly less than a barcode scanner, could this be the next generation of the CueCat, made at home? Also, your killing two birds with one stone, as it's multifunctional. Mind you, it still isn't as good as that MP3 playing toothbrush I got for Christmas :-))

  12. What's the point? on First Blu-ray Movie Titles Announced · · Score: 0

You can already fit a 2 hour plus film on a DVD, so this is completley usless for movies. It would only be useful for really big series, like The Simpsons, where you could fit several DVDs to one Blu-Ray.

  13. Obviously on Wikipedia's Accuracy Compared to Britannica · · Score: 0

  19. heh... on Video iPod Oct 12? · · Score: 0

2 days before my birthday! Anyway, what about the Creative Zen Vision, a fine piece of machinery, none the less, which is more than what the iPod Video is expected to be. It's screen will be smaller than the Zen Vision, it won't have all the extras the Zen Vision has, i.e. built-in mic, personal organiser, etc. and it's going to be more expensive. I mean, sure, twice the storage, but 30 gigs is more than enough. Why bother paying more for something that isn't as good just because it's new?

On Christmas Day during WW II the Germans and Americans stopped fighting and had a game of football, then got back to killing eachother the next day, wouldn't it be lovely if that Christmas Day was every day?
