  2. Re:Why? on Democrats Defeat Online FOS Act · · Score: 1

We need politicians that will bring us back to the freedoms our country enjoyed two hundred years ago, but everyone is interested in towing the party line--it seems even the voters.

Two hundred years ago, blacks were 3/5 of a person and women were legally sanctioned second class citizens. That freedom?

Though, I do agree that we are being sold short by our politicians on both sides these days. However, in a democratic republic aren't we supposed to be the bosses? Much of the blame for this modern day political lampooning rests squarely upon our own shoulders for allowing our representatives to meander about unchecked beyond the scope of their political enemies who also happen to be their political peers.

Nerdcore now refers to artists waxing lyrical about topics as disparate as engineering and Lord of the Rings.

Please, let's leave the LOTR songs to true musicians like Leonard Nimoy.

Kids also make the best soldiers since they lack the life perspective of adults (my theory). I was recently reading an article about Ugandan rebels who kidnap children from orphanages to retrain them into miniature killing machines. The truly chilling part was the brutal unquestioning efficiency with which the children carried out executions of prisoners.

  15. Waste of time.. on Hong Kong Boy Scouts to Protect IP · · Score: 1

  18. Not all that surprising.. on Online Shoppers Aren't Impulsive · · Score: 2, Insightful

Given the immediate convenience online shopping provides, there is also no sense of urgency in actually purchasing the items. It's one thing to get dressed, gas up the car/truck/tank, drive to a store after which I almost feel compelled to justify having going to all that trouble by buying something. Whereas with online stores I simply don't feel the need to buy anything on a whim since if one store sells out I'm sure another will have whatever I may be looking for. There's also the amount of time taken to price compare on-the-fly which isn't nearly as convenient in actual brick and mortar stores.

  24. X-Box Live.. on Player vs. Player Play Examined · · Score: 1

I just wonder how they account for the "I'm reporting User So-and-so out of spite because he/she won," factor. I wouldn't expect an all out investigatory thing, but it seems like the very system meant to get rid of griefing could be used as a tool of abuse by griefers.
