We need politicians that will bring us back to the freedoms our country enjoyed two hundred years ago, but everyone is interested in towing the party line--it seems even the voters.
Two hundred years ago, blacks were 3/5 of a person and women were legally sanctioned second class citizens. That freedom?
Though, I do agree that we are being sold short by our politicians on both sides these days. However, in a democratic republic aren't we supposed to be the bosses? Much of the blame for this modern day political lampooning rests squarely upon our own shoulders for allowing our representatives to meander about unchecked beyond the scope of their political enemies who also happen to be their political peers.
The guys and gals down at Lunar Linux are grinning maliciously at the success of their propaganda scheme to encourage poor schmucks like me to post links to their project on/. in a desparate attempt to get +5 mod points.
At the risk of getting modded Troll, as an astrologer, shouldn't she have seen this coming anyway? Maybe it's time for her to look into other career opportunities.
If you want to complain, do so to the people who actually buy the cards at $500 or so. The cards wouldn't be selling for that much if there wasn't an enthusiast market out there to pay such prices.
Kids also make the best soldiers since they lack the life perspective of adults (my theory). I was recently reading an article about Ugandan rebels who kidnap children from orphanages to retrain them into miniature killing machines. The truly chilling part was the brutal unquestioning efficiency with which the children carried out executions of prisoners.
Kids should be learning useful life skills such as how to start fires in the wilderness using rudimentary materials found in nature. What's next, a/. moderation merit badge?
As a geek at least partially inspired by Scotty from Star Trek, I wouldn't mind seeing a James Doohan Award for excellence in contributing to technological advancement or similar.
Given the immediate convenience online shopping provides, there is also no sense of urgency in actually purchasing the items. It's one thing to get dressed, gas up the car/truck/tank, drive to a store after which I almost feel compelled to justify having going to all that trouble by buying something.
Whereas with online stores I simply don't feel the need to buy anything on a whim since if one store sells out I'm sure another will have whatever I may be looking for. There's also the amount of time taken to price compare on-the-fly which isn't nearly as convenient in actual brick and mortar stores.
I guess the day is fast approaching when I can plug in my Ono Sendai deck and really get iced. Here's to hoping they don't "ice" me for being a liberal agnostic atheist/ideological terrorist.
"... This galaxy, dubbed VIRGOHI21 is rotating like a real galaxy, at speeds only explainable through massive amounts of matter, thought no single visible star could be detected."
I just wonder how they account for the "I'm reporting User So-and-so out of spite because he/she won," factor. I wouldn't expect an all out investigatory thing, but it seems like the very system meant to get rid of griefing could be used as a tool of abuse by griefers.
Will it kill my cat?

If by "Quake 4" you mean "porn," then yeah. I agree.

Nerdcore now refers to artists waxing lyrical about topics as disparate as engineering and Lord of the Rings.
Please, let's leave the LOTR songs to true musicians like Leonard Nimoy.

You mean this isn't a Dvorak article? I'm stunned.
So I've been living on the alpha version this entire time?
Drats, and I would've gotten away with it if it wasn't for those pesky /.'ers and their stupid dog!
Uh, Carmen Electra dancing topless next to it? Zing!
P'shaw. I, for one, welcome our new Terran overlords.
At least you don't have to get the stuff from Lybian terrorists. Great Scott!

I'll have to go to Jiffy Lube to download service packs and safety updates?

... under Canada, with liberty and justice for all.

Jar-Jar was bad enough in 2 dimensions.
I couldn't really tell you, but in my case I realized my mother lied to me. I'm a better person now for the wear.

Right on. Dropping out: the newer and more better career option.
