A high-end computer can do calculations, render video, run programs, multi-task, etc. You can develop full games for the PC (as shown by a previous article article about an open-source game)

if consoles start doing this, they are just going to become computers. so no difference realy, just different manufacturers...

  8. wow... on Sony's New DRM Technique · · Score: 1

I made a comment, then actually bothered to RTFA and found this

Under the new solution, tracks ripped and burned from a copy-protected disc are copied to a blank CD in Microsoft's Windows Media Audio format. The DRM embedded on the discs bars the burned CD from being copied.

this means it only protects if you rip from a protected CD to the HDD, then burn back to the CD. Which still doesnt make sense, since normal CD players cant play .wma files...

yet another reason I stick with winamp

  9. Saw an article on this a wile ago... on Sony's New DRM Technique · · Score: 1

while CD burners were just about to become mainstream. there was an article in some mag. that said that each copy, a certain string would change until it rendered the disk unreadable (copy of a copy of a copy of the original in the example)

    I never saw it.

If you can listen to the music, it can be copied. end of story

  15. Re:It's a copy on Download Your Brain · · Score: 1

but if you implememnt it like in the book "Kiln People" then you have something

for those of you who didnt read (not a spoiler) the book involves use of a machine to copy your memories and whats called your 'standing soul wave' into a clay-like copy of yourself that lasted for a day, and that you could 'inload' the data from that day back into yourself. the 'standing soul wave' is dynamic for a person, which is why they limit life to 1 day, otherwize it would be impossable to completely inload (they could extract some images but not much)

  16. what about what happened with the PSP on PlayStation 3 Pricing Revealed? · · Score: 2, Insightful

IIRC, the PSP costs significantly more than it should if you just convert currency, so maybe the PS3 will be more

on the other hand, they have made a lot of money on the sale of the PSP unit, so they can afford to loose money on the PS3. Considering Sony's game library size, it would probably be a good idea
