All I want to know is... what the figure is for reporters (I say higher, but thats from my observations that I've fixed.... gah. who can we trust these days?)
A high-end computer can do calculations, render video, run programs, multi-task, etc. You can develop full games for the PC (as shown by a previous article article about an open-source game)
if consoles start doing this, they are just going to become computers. so no difference realy, just different manufacturers...
if you're using Unet groups, why would you need torrents? most torrent sites that I've... er... "heard of" have uploaders with Unet access, and thats where everything comes from...
I made a comment, then actually bothered to RTFA and found this
Under the new solution, tracks ripped and burned from a copy-protected disc are copied to a blank CD in Microsoft's Windows Media Audio format. The DRM embedded on the discs bars the burned CD from being copied.
this means it only protects if you rip from a protected CD to the HDD, then burn back to the CD. Which still doesnt make sense, since normal CD players cant play.wma files...
while CD burners were just about to become mainstream. there was an article in some mag. that said that each copy, a certain string would change until it rendered the disk unreadable (copy of a copy of a copy of the original in the example)
I never saw it.
If you can listen to the music, it can be copied. end of story
this is probably just an experiment, to see how many people are willing to pay this ammount to get the files back
He (she?) would get more money if it was a lower ammount in an easy-to-pay system, since many more people would pay. Maybe we will see the story sometime soon
.... is only if you get ALL the consoles, plus games, extra controllers etc. (maybe even throw in the PSP and DS for good measure)
I dont know about you, but I'm not buying them all, probably not more than 1 before the first price drop. I may not even get one of them (xbox 360) ever. Plus I can trade in my old systems.
but if you implememnt it like in the book "Kiln People" then you have something
for those of you who didnt read (not a spoiler) the book involves use of a machine to copy your memories and whats called your 'standing soul wave' into a clay-like copy of yourself that lasted for a day, and that you could 'inload' the data from that day back into yourself. the 'standing soul wave' is dynamic for a person, which is why they limit life to 1 day, otherwize it would be impossable to completely inload (they could extract some images but not much)
IIRC, the PSP costs significantly more than it should if you just convert currency, so maybe the PS3 will be more
on the other hand, they have made a lot of money on the sale of the PSP unit, so they can afford to loose money on the PS3. Considering Sony's game library size, it would probably be a good idea
My only complaint is that the versions for download are direct releases from the SNES cart. Why couldn't they orchestrate them instead of using the 8-bit sound system?
you can also get perfect quality from the snes cart by using.spc's [some info ]
dual-layer DVD's are currently a few $ for 1, and write at about 1/4 the speed (on a decent priced burner) if that trend continues (does some approx. in head) thats in low-mid 10's of $ (10-15) and would take 16x as long (2 hrs)
so now the ratings actually mean something. kids cant (technicaly) go to R rated movies, therefore movie ratings actually mean something. now the video game ratings actually have an effect besides just being in the bottom corner of a box
ive seen people burn normal CD-r's for dreamcast (of some unreleased games from overseas) and they worked just fine.
so presumably, if the headers/identifications of the disk could be set properly (bitset IIRC) then all you need is a mini DVD (2-layer? -/+R?)
All I want to know is... what the figure is for reporters (I say higher, but thats from my observations that I've fixed.... gah. who can we trust these days?)
its been doing that all day for me, I thougt it was just the admins here at school getting smart

you just don't see them advertized, because its not whats 'new'
No way they are going away, unless you can get no motion-blur on LCD's, gamers and people who can't stand blur (me) will still want CRT's
How does the playstation 3 manage 2.2 teraflops without being the size of a house then?
1.8 of those teraflops are on the GPU

square will NEVER decomission its flagship product.
like he said, the last few have not been good... its just a stage.
Hopefully, like some people said that after VI, the series has declined, after this bad spell the series will improve

yet another reason I stick with winamp

... which literaly means outside the law, so if someone killed an 'outlaw' they would not be punished because the law doesnt protect the outlaws
that list is too long. you could shorten it by merging items 1, 2, and 4

guess we wont be taking any servers down on this article...

most MMOs forbid client modification... this makes it easy!
and since its decentralized, server modification also. unless they store user data securly on a central server, cheating is gonna be BAD.
floronert
forgive me, I dont have a link. basicly its waterlike but completely non-conductive
although I havnt read any of the books, almost everyone I know has (and gives me hell for it) so maybe it is nerd related :P
retro fans will recognize songs from "Donkey Kong" and "Pong."
blip? ping? (as you can tell I wont be one of those 'retro fans')
