I have an x41 tablet and I've been using it for the past couple of months for school mostly. I think it's a great laptop: It's light weight, the batery lasts all day, and it works very well.
I used the finger print reader for a while, and it worked fairly well. but then I f'd windows so bad it BSOD'd during startup. The built in IBM software allowed me to back up my homework and then it reinstalled everything. I havnt gotten around to setting it back up since then though.
The keyboards just right. I have to admit that I don't use it as a tablet that often, but tablet form is handy when im standing around and have to hold it with one hand.
Oh, and Unreal Tournament 2004 gets mid 20's framerates at default settings (800x600). (I have 1.5 gb ram. It averaged around 20 with 512 mb ram.)
so, it's a little pricey, but its definately a good laptop.
An iPod being used for anything important is a scary thought. I have a 60 gig ipod photo that crashes at least as often as my windows pc. Even worse, It has completely died on me twice in the 8 months I'v had it. The first time was roughly a month after I bought it, the hard drive died and had to be replaced. I'm not sure what the second problem is - its at the repair shop right now.
Note, I have NOT been rough on it, theres hardly a scratch on the thing.
I have noticed with the theaters in my area, that the previews are getting close to 30 min. long. With previews that long, I don't bother to show up to the theater till the time posted the movie should start. It is getting ridiculous.
Heck, I dont leave my house till the time the movie is posted to start. I live about 15-20 mins away from my theater and I think I missed the first 30 seconds of a movie once.
but all in all, I'v more or less stoped going to the theater. I think I went 2, maby 3 time to the movies this year. and its not that I'm downloading them - I'm just not watching the crap.
some sequels are completely lame, but others OTOH are actualy a marked improvement on a fun game.
take the command and conquer series. the first game was awesome and each consecutive release was better than the last. now were going on to something like the sixth or seventh and they have yet disapoint me*
even after ea took over, I grudgingly admit, red alert 2 and generals were (and still are) a lot of fun. and from what I hear, theres a red alert 3 comming.
*renegade dosent count. that game was completely lame. that was a bad sequel.
netflix is very nice, but i ended up canceling my service. I had it for a few months but eventualy canceled because i dont watch enough movies to make it worth my while.

1 GB (2 NonParity DDR2 SDRAM SoDIMM PC4200) [add $250.00]

This mouse has a fairly fancy scroll wheel. Its got the regular up and down, plus you can tilt it right or left. but in addition to that there are two buttons, one above and one below. I think Logitech calls these 'cruse control', but what they do is scroll up or down the page really fast.
I thought it was kind of lame at first, but after I started using it I gerw to like it
Basicaly, logitech has a habit of building very good quality mice that are actualy worth more than the competition. $70 sounds steep, but if you have to use it every day it might just be worth it.
Yea, pretymuch. Trillian is one of those pieces of software thats so good I actualy paid for it.

<delzi> Arguing in the internet is like running in the special olympics, even if you win you are still retarted.
Right-on, Xcom rocked! I still break that game out every now and then.
The torrent came straight from the linspire website. definately not warez. Not sure about the serial, but it didnt seem like it would require one...
sure. origional was at http://tracker.linspire.com/torrents/linspire_5.0. 59.torrent
a copy of that torrent is at brickballs.net/stuff/linspire5.torrent

You know, i heard of this other great way to reverse the effects of sleep deprivation: they call it "sleep".
I'v seen that layout before, oswd.org if I remember right.
Thought about using it for something of my own, but I never got around to it

I pay attention to what Philip Torrone is up to.
He started the engadget Podcast, hackaday, and now MAKE.
it seems like he's really good at getting cool stuff off the ground and then he leaves it to other people once its up and running
http://flashenabled.com/ is his site
Thats about the best descrption I'v heard yet
overhyped
overhyped? I dont recall ever hearing of it. of course I havn't heard of the others either..
I hava a Logitech MX1000 mouse, and I love it.

windows automaticay restarts for me all the time. I get a quick flash of blue and then bam! restart.
finaly, I'll be able to order my groceries online again!
no more brick-and-mortar for me!
I donth think the problem is that ink costs so much.
I think the problem is more that the printer manufacturers want to grosly overcharg for the ink.
