    Depends on your market. For example, Japan has had android devices (tablets included) with both radio and TV for sometime (albeit one-seg crap for tv, really lousy rez) .

    Too bad the drivers for these tend to be proprietary.

    They aren't.

    Only mega-corp like Tsutaya are viable now, haven't seen a non-chain store in years. DVD by mail and streaming are getting more and more common, even (specially) for pr0n.

    Ok... maybe it's like that only in Yokohama (sorta like the new Jersey of jp), but anyway...

    Uh, at least from Ubuntu 10.04 that'll be the "Hardware Drivers" applet found under System->Administration->Hardware Drivers.

    It gives you insight, in, you know, raising kids (considering you do some parenting, anyway).
    It will not automatically give you a higher ground or morals, but it surely teaches you a few things.

    In the upcomming months plenty of companies will start offering DLNA DMR devices (https://coherence.beebits.net/wiki/MediaRenderer).
    You can stream the music from your NAS directly to this devices, as long as you have the software (ushare, twonkymedia, windows 7 has it as 'Play To').
    There are not many devices available as of now, but they will be in the next few months.
    DMR software: foobar2000 (need a plugin), rythmbox (needs a plugin)

    Just an idea, you can google the rest.

    I use twitter as a persistent IRC among a bunch of friends. It has less features, but higher mobility, less hassle. I don't see why should anybody be so upset about it.

    So any device using this subset of UPnP A/V should work. DLNA 1.0 devices included. Check for the mark on your consumer electronics... or try to make the coherence plugin work -_-
