Odd thing about that... Barrels were easier to draw in Doom/Wolf3D, because you would always see the same face, since all enemies were single sprites, using a rounded background object made sense. Fast forward to Quake, where the background objects were drawn in polygons, and could be viewed from more directions, now it's a headache to produce a round object, so we get square boxes.
And how many GB of your hard drive did you have to sacrifice to get those loading times? I've heard of 7 minute install proceedures on certain PS3 games. Inexcusable.
That said, I will readily admit that I do not at this point own a PS3, and it has nothing to do with any perceived technical differences or limitations, it's the library. But the slower drive speed of the PS3 is commonly mentioned on/. and other sites, so that is where my assumption comes from.
In short: PS3 may load fast because it uses the Hard Drive as a cache, big time. The 360 can't guarantee that, but can stream data off the disc faster than the PS3 can stream data of it's discs.
If that was the case, then only the 360 version would have been delayed. Unless you think it's Microsof deep pockets that are forcing a simultaneous release, which I doubt.
But the hard drive is far more of a necessity on the PS3 due to the slower load times.
YuGiOh calls it "defense mode", Naruto CCG calls it "injured", I'd be harder pressed to name a trading card game that doesn't use a sideways card as a visual reminder of some state.
While YouTube worked on the original release, it occasionally failed to load the whole video, and it was not possible to refresh/reload to get it to work. I haven't had the chance to put the update through it's paces yet, so hopefully that has been worked out.
I was actually once driving in a parking lot trying to figure out exactly how to make my car hop to start the power slide. It didn't help that I was playing Mario Kart DS on the subway, and that the parking lot reminded me of the Baby Park track.
Wikipedia seems to have the sales numbers for the Original DS (26.82 million as of Sept 30, 2006) and the DS Lite (26.8 million as of Nov 30, 2006) separate. They are not the same, as the breakdown of regions are quite different. So in total the DS has outsold the PSP by about 2 to 1.
No, I'm pointing out the flaw in your argument. Your interest income is only higher than the interest you pay on the loan because you are putting additional money in by paying the monthly loan payments. In our example where the loan interest and investment interest are the same, if you were to simply invest the monthly loan payments, you would have the same profit as your plan. Let's say a loan of $10,000 and 1% interest each month to be simple, with payments of $250/month on the loan, with a matching investment of $10,000 at the same rate, vs simply depositing $250/month into an investment at the 1% per month.
Month 0: You owe $10,000 on the loan, and have $10,000 in your investment. I haven't borrowed money or invested, we are both even at this point. Month 1: You have accrued $100 interest on both the loan and your investment, and then paid a $250 payment towards your loan. You now owe $9,850 on your loan, and your investment is worth $10,100. The only increase in value at this point is the $250 you invested. At the same time, I put $250 into my investment. Month 2: Your loan accrues $98.50 interest, and you pay $250 again, putting the loan balance at $9698.50. Your investment accrues $101, raising it to $10,201. The total increased value is now $502.50, but you added $500 of your own money, so your interest income is $2.50. Meanwhile, I earn $2.50 interest on my investment and add another $250. Now I too have a positive balance of $502.50, and interest earned of $2.50. They are the same. You can expand this as far as you want.
Of course, this doesn't take into account the availability of the investment at the same rate (you may have to lock in to a CD in order to get a comparable rate, etc.), but essentially the reason you are making ANY money on this proposition is from your recurring investment, which is camoflauged as the monthly payment on your loan.
You're paying down the principal on the loan to lower the future interest, but you're not deducting that from the invested amount. The same effect can be gained in this case by buying the car outright for cash and putting the monthly loan payment amount into your investment.
Aren't you putting the cart before the horse? I don't see scoreboards and news tickers and whatnot being utilized in a widescreen format until the install base of widescreen TVs goes up. I keep hearing that somewhere around 10% of people have a HDTV. If I had a TV network, and I programmed something that benefits the 10%, but alienates the 90%, the 90% will change the channel. I don't care how exclusive your content is, the average person will not spend $1000 to upgrade to watch your TV. The die-hard sports nuts and movie buffs already have it. The people that don't don't care enough.
I think Eggplant Wizard, Little Mac and Super Macho Man (Plus the reskin as Soda Popinski!) would all be great additions from the Nintendo family.
Outside of Nintendo, all bets are basically off. The more villains the better though.
I'd have assumed it would be that like the Goblins, the Pandaren were truly neutral to the two factions, since they were neutral heros in Warcraft III. They could just as easily be a Horde faction as they could be an Alliance faction. IIRC, the only Pandaren in the campaigns was the one that joined you in the Orc mini-campaign in the Frozen Throne.
No, but if the game were to specifically exclude you from using those names it would be, because that means that those words would have to be IN THE GAME CODE!

So you think they're going Young Indiana Jones Chronicles with this one?
No love for the Simpsons arcade game? (Which I am still praying will make it's way to XBox Live when the movie hits)

Maybe it's just me, but asking for more money IS a way of recognizing that the internet is becoming a more viable media for music distribution.

I was going to correct you to say wife instead of life, but then I realized that this is Slashdot.
That was the exact pre-reg number for the first PAX.

Am I the only person who thought unbreakable DDR pad when I read this?
Why do you think there is never a preview of the next week's episode at the end of each new one?

Yeah, but then Steam goes "My god, he's staring at that one spot! We should put an ad there!"
Aside from the 355/113 comments above... I'm fairly sure 710/226 is just as accurate, and just as many digits.

Never before have I agreed with a typo so much.
Yes they lose. How much was Microsoft losing on each 360 sold again?
And the scary thing is, I misread the headline and thought they might have to play Warcraft III for the decision.

Yes, this is how silly we're getting folks.
