We're talking about a fundamental principal discovered hundreds of years ago by Newton. How the hell was something as simple as a non-symmetric rotating mass patented in the first place?
This does seem strange, especially since Japan isn't as gung-ho about FF as even North America is. It seems more like they asked a group of FF fanboys in Japan what their favorite games were.
It could be _that_, or (as I'd like to see it) it's all the people boycotting them for their anti-competitive acts, and buying out good talent and turning them into crap (Maxis, Westwood, soon Ubisoft, etc.)
I will personally say that Kojima is brilliant. If he says something, you shouldn't just brush through shrug it and say he's an idiot. What he said is that games as a whole are not art, but the stuff in them is.
Don't mean to be a bitch, but if you look at the facts, it still weighs 5 grams more then PSP and is still some 78,000 mm^3(or 780 cm^3) larger then it.
Can I get some confirmation that SCE is actually losing money? I've heard that Sony is losing money, mostly because of it's crappy TV sales and what not, but SCE losing money seems a hell of a lot more like an unfounded rumour, considering the PS2 is not sold at a loss...
While I think Apple open sourcing Mac OS X is a pipe dream and unrealistic, I do think it would be more realistic and nice if they offered more interoperability with KDE. Perhaps more in the vein of offering it as an alternative desktop shell right off the bat in a future OS X release.
Hmm... this really brings up the question on whether or not good movies do sell. I can come up with many examples of movies (and games for that matter) that are quite excellent but sell like crap. Likewise I can come up with many examples of movies and games that are shit and sell way too well. The focus on these two mediums has far too much to do with advertising.
Look at something like Fantastic Four, which really only sold well because you see advertisments for it every 5 minutes, both for the theatrical and DVD release, but it really wasn't that good (at least in general opinion). If something is said to be good by anything, be it a commercial or a friend, people will believe it is because they're trusting in humanity.
The great thing about the many distributions is that you can find one specialized enough for you/someone else. In this case, if your son/daughter wants a computer, but you don't want it to get fucked up with malware yet still want it to be fun and easy for them, Edubuntu may be a great solution. Doesn't need to be the best thing since sliced bread, really.
snap
Well at least it's not -exactly- the same as FFX... the last boss in that was a breeze.

Just use Konqueror. I'm sure 99.9% of malicious hackers haven't even heard of it!

Knowing some of the latest strategies of the industry, it;ll probably be AMD: Basic, Intel: Premium... *sigh*
That being said, it seems like a very short time to announce the features of the system, game lineup and to get everything ready and shipped.
Done, partly done, and all that's left in your mind I guess.
They've been running around yelling "Spring" for months now. Why not expect them to say it again?
Or, you know, you could save yourself a good hundred+ dollars and just buy a GCN.
Yay for Unreal Tournament 2007!

They have a lot of employees... no wonder they're able to churn out so many [re-]releases every year!
Or perhaps "Monsters Inc"

I managed to find 5 new games I liked enough to buy this year. WipEout Pure, Lumines, Shadow of the Colossus, Devil May Cry 3, and Dragon Quest 8.

Different people play video games for different reasons. It was wrong for TFA author to generalize, but I for one do play games to escape.
zaku@sage # fdisk /dev/hdb
The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 6232.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)
Command (m for help):
Command (m for help): d hdb2
Partition number (1-4): 2
Problem solved. :)

Thinking a Beyond Good and Evil sequal had been announced. Small chance of that anyway...

The whole thing reads like an advertisment, if truth be told.
