Does anyone else think it is a tad strange that Blizzard is making people pay $15 a month (i think taht the ammount) to play their game, and making people pay for new content... most companies seem to use part of the monthly payment as paying for content updates... like Lineage 2, where you payed monthly, and the devs made cosntant small updates and patches, and every once in a while released a free massive expansion pack. Then there Guild Wars (ok, not REALLY an mmorpg) that doesnt have a monthly fee, but will make their money by selling expansion packs every once in a while.
While I hear WoW is a fantastic game, and im sure tons of people love it enough to pay just about any ammount to play it... it seems to me that Blizzard is really overcharging their customers.
I guess im just a tad upset about how expensive it is becoming to be a gamer, these days, and i dont like the way much of the industry is heading.
I'd be far more interested in a list of top producers/publishers, rated on the creative quality of their games, and how they treat their emplayees and customers...
I can't take anything that rates EA and Atari in the top 20 too seriously.
I was wonderign if anyone would post this... I've always heard it refered to as Petals Around The Rose, though. It was actually the first program I wrote in C++, too!
Whew... I was almost to the bottom of the page, and hadn't seen this comment... I was starting to think slashdot posters had lost their brilliant sense of humor!
"The methanol reacts with water in the presence of a catalyst to produce hydrogen ions and electrons. The ions and electrons pass through the membrane to react with the oxygen to form water - which can be used to dilute the methanol. Besides power, the only byproduct of the reaction is carbon-dioxide."
afaik, the Xbox 360 and PS3 will cost more to manufacture than the sale price... this meaning each Xbox 360 sale is more of an "investment" by microsoft, hoping that the average customer will over the life of the 360 buy enough games to make up for the difference.
so each of those 360 sales that would be made by hackers, that have no intention of buying games, would actually be costing MS money... so it makes sense that they wouldnt want these people buying their system.
I would have to disagree with you on the PS2 vs GameCube remark. ive owned a PS2 since its first week, and have bought about 2 or 3 games for it, and played them each for a few hours... worst game library ever for a console, imo. but i jsut playe da freinds GC, and a bunch of games he has, so i just ran out and bought a GC and a bunch of games, and there are a bunch more old ones, and plenty of unreleased one i want to get soon. and its costing me a whole lot less than it would to buy a PS2 right now.
not trying to start a console/flame war...
or am I... (dum dum duuum)
I read a study previously taht came to the same conclusion, that playign violent video games led to more aggressive thoughts and tendancies... while, and immediately after playing the games. thre was nothign to show tht these effects continued mroe than a few minutes after playing the game. which is pretty pointless. ofcourse people are going to have agressive thoughts while killing people in a virtual world. but that doesnt mean those thoughts will continue through the day.
Nintendo will be a releasing a little USB wifi router of sorts, that you plug into yoru computer, and it shares your internet connection. you might be be to use normal wifi routers aswell.
i would actualyl say the Halo games are th most overatted... never seen much in them.
while i do think HL2 is overrated, it still is a very good game. the most interstign party i thought, was the physics interactions, whcih havent been doen much in games, thusfar. other than that, i agree it is very generic. and i actualyl thought the story was terrible o_O
screen actors shoudl stay on the screen.
the Voice Actors Guild has been getting shafted by the movie, and gaming industries. in all the big budget animated movies, and video games, theya re getting SAG people to do the jobs that VAG people shoudl be doing. and generally doign a terrible job of it. take the movie Madagascar for example... absolutely terrible voice acting! there are talented voice actors out there that can do a much better job. but these SAG people are getting them jsut for the name recognition, and i think its rediculous.
heres an interesting interview with Billy West (voice of Fry on Futurama, and Ren and Stimpy). he talks a bit abotu how screen actors are takign their jobs... http://redesign.theonion.com/avclub/node/240/1/1
Im more itnerested in seeing the movie for Karl Urban. a much more interestign actor, imo. he played Eomer in the Lord of the Rings movies, and the russian assassin in The Bourne Supremacy.
I kinda like The Rock too, though. he does a great job of overacting while keeping it fun.
Howerver, i thought the teaser made it look a lot like the Resident Evil movie... which isnt a great thing, in my book...
I find it perfectly interesting. but at the same time, can you really deny how silly it is?
if you like wood, you may think it looks good... but the contrast of the organic wood style with the ipods geometric, minimalist design doesnt work too well for me.
cool in a gimicky way;)

If you spend $500 on a video card, then you are a fool...

"no one loves Darl, and the Pope loves everyone"
There is a flaw in your logic...

What Would Al Gore Do?
What kind of backwards logic is that?
If we didnt have hackers, we wouldnt need "things such as online shopping and ssh encrpytion etc".
Ofcourse this is no perfect world, and we do have hackers... but thats quite a stretch, trying to justify their existence.
You forgot Beaver and Steve.
I wouldn't give this any more merrit than the winners of the SpikeTV Video Game Awards.
A smelloscope sounds great and all... But it's no match for my Finglonger entry.

is this the way Sony view the game industry? anything different, and innovative is a gimmick? no wonder i dont buy Sony consoles anymore...
I would love to see a new Bubble Bobble and Poy Poy game. Two of my favorite games of all time.

I like MMO games. I like baseball. This game sounds terrible.
Whats this about sex scenes? Okay, thats it - I'm buying Killer 7.
