I suppose my comment could easily have been taken out of context. I have been to foreign countries and i have read their newspapers, and i know there is a lot more and better content. I am well aware that most american media whether television or newspaper have been and will continue to censor the news. Frankly, I find it horrible despicable and i think the United States is already eroding its own liberties and freedoms.

Insensitive?? That book was named before the friggin buildings were built. Why should it have to change its name because some psychos blew up the buildings that stole its name?

We can't suddenly start censoring reality because something horribly happened. If we did that we are injuring our freedoms as Americans. And if we lose these freedoms then what is left of the country? The power of the United States comes from the incredibly smart men who drafyted the constitution and design our government. They gave us what no other country had, freedom. If that freedom is taken away then all is lost, the initials U-S-A mean nothing, the terrorists will have won.

  3. I imagine this site is here to stay. on Chilling Effects Cease & Desist Clearinghouse · · Score: 3

First of all many of you have commented on the possibility of some large law firm trying to shutdown the Chilling Effects Clearinghouse. I find this highly unlikely. It is run by divisions of the Harvard, Standford and Berkley Law Schools, whom have incredibly power. I doubt its possible for any law firm to intimidate Harvard. Its current alumni consist of 5 of the 9 supreme court justices and many members of Congress. So needless to say if any legal action was attempted against this site it would be met with a very powerful defense.

We all know that the shuttle program and releated space programs cost extraordinary large amounts to maintain and develop. There is one person who could easily by the program and have the funds to support it. Bill Gates! Now I know most of you are saying "Bill Gateswould never do that he's a cheap bastard". And your right normally he wouldn't do it, its a huge money hole. However, there might be a way to convince him to buy it nonetheless. Perhaps if you damn linux zealots would shut up about how much better linux is than Windows, closed source developers might ACTUALLY listen to you. Now if you guys chose to support Bill Gates and throw all your influence (sarcasm) behind him and microsoft he might return the favor and make our nerd dreams come true.

Although they did title the section of the FAQ Artists will get paid I'm doubtful that they actually will.
Napster will offer artists and labels tools to register as rights holders and get paid for sharing their music on Napster. Artists and other rights holders can set rules for how their music files are used, check their account status online, and receive quarterly statements.

I'm not a lawyer but i'm pretty sure that the rights to most music is held by the big record companies. Therefore those few independant artists will actually get paid, but i'm betting the ones already signed to record labels won't see much of that subscription fee.

"

I can see the FBI and the DoJ being involved in this operation, but why the hell was the enviromental protection agency have to do with this? The piracy of corprate software has nothing to do plants or air pollution.

I'm sure the EPA was actually secretly dissolved by the Bush administration and was replaced by a DoJ brute squad using the same name.

I believe the main reason why the iPaq has been so much more successful than other Pocket PCs is because it has been the first one to take advantage of the strong arm technology. It also sports a pretty cool case. Although the PC Card expansion sleave is a bit clunky it allows for wireless PCMCIA cards. Wireless LAN access is of course ideal for a PDA. I am very interested to see what HP will do with the iPaq ideally they will combine it the the best aspects of the Jordana.

First of all it would mean the loss of quite a few jobs in Compaq and HP. Both companies have a pretty large developement staff which would not be entirely needed. Some would need to remain behind in order to produce a flavor of linux tailored to their systems. Imagine that if all of a sudden a wave of 60 year old Unix guru's were put out onto the street...

The only successful attacks on companies only seem to come from individual lawsuits. Then again often the money transfered in these lawsuits is infinitesimal compared to the overall value of the company. What we really need is someone in power who is willing to enforce American business laws. It sure as hell isn't going to be Bush. He likes to believe he is a businessman.
