    I don't know about other schools, but my school system paid $1200 a pop for a bunch of P4 1.7 ghz machines w/ 128 mb ram, 30 Gb HD, and 16 mb ATI Rage cards... only a year ago. They bought about a thousand of them, because the company they bought from tricked them into thinking they were getting a "deal". Stupid places like the one they bought from give local comp stores a bad name.

    And the only software on them was WinXP and Works (no Office...just Microsoft Works). B$, isn't it?

    On top of that, they don't keep the computers up...that's our IT guys' job.

    It'd be a major mistake for M$ to screw around w/ Linux. Considering most people consider M$ a monopoly as it is, imagine what would happen if we were to take Linux out of the picture (and have Microsoft as the killer). They'd get sued, and they know it... so they are obviously only doing this to learn from it.

    Actually, a lot of the women that I know seem to PREFER boxers (3/4 of the month, anyways).

    Agreed on the front flap. women don't seem to mind them, so why not just keep it?

    Guys who prefer briefs are screwed.

    The Xbox360, as well as the Xbox before it, will have memory sticks. While the hard drive is nice, it is not "key" to the Xbox. Also, he states that it lacks Ethernet, which is untrue. The article simply states that the more expensive version of the Xbox360 will include an Ethernet CABLE packaged with it.

    While I've not had the chance to view the PS2 version, in the Xbox version they will constantly walk into walls, walk off dangerous cliffs, and run over each other.

    I must say, though...for them to be lacking basic skills like not walking off a cliff, they sure do have good aim.

    Actually, the content is still accessable... you'd have to upload the game onto your Xbox, though...then install the mod made especially for the Xbox version to unlock this. From the sounds of it, it is a lot of trouble...especially for someone under 18 who can't access porn the regular way.

    My grandfather was at my house yesterday...blaming my 14-year-old cousin having sex with his girlfriend on GTA: SA, which he purchased a few weeks ago.

    All this time, I thought that 14-year-olds had sex because of hormones (or, in some rare cases, having actual feelings for another).

    I just had to share that with you guys.

    Well, yes. I disagree that the AI was shoddy in 1942...it had bad moments, but nothing as bad as what I saw in Battlefront. Also, Battlefront's AI seemed to pretty much CHARGE towards the next control point... In 1942, on the other hand, they would sometimes stop and keep bridges and stuff secure.

    While I agree that the interface looks very much like it was designed to be a console game, we've already seen in Star Wars: Battlefield that this kind of gameplay cannot be achieved on a console.

    In Battlefront, the enemy AI is dumb as dirt, The controls feel...wrong, the graphics are mediocre AT BEST, and you could tell that, had it been made for a machine with more power than an X-Box, it could have been a decent game.

    But seeing as how BF2 has great AI, beautiful graphics, etc., I disapprove of it being called a "console game".

    Very true. As a matter of fact, SW: Battlefront was BUILT off of BF 1942's engine. EA licensed it to them.

    I don't see anything anywhere in the link about Apple's 500,000,000th song. It says "Over 430,000,000 sold", and that's the closest I can find on there.

    Where I used to work, we had a network of 2000+ computers. While we did check in on most of the students and falculty to see if they were violating the rules, we usually did not give them the harsh punishments that we were promising in our usage guidelines. Most often, we'd simply block whatever port they were using (if it was a game or something), or just take them off the network for a while.

    So you're giving Microsoft the credit for the Firefox team's work? I'm sorry, but this upsets me. The "it is from Microsoft so they know they can trust it" comments did wrestle a chuckle out of me, though. But, and please correct me if I'm wrong, can't you be sued for doing this (by either M$ or Mozilla)? Not that I'd wish that upon you, I'm just bringing it to your attention.

    They WONT cancel becuase a freaking window FELL OFF of the shuttle (because it was TAPED on incorrectly...), but they WILL cancel becuase one the sensors that tells them HOW MUCH GAS THEY HAVE IN THE TANK isn't working?

    I agree with nearly everything you said. Right on, man! Anyways, I do have to disagree that calculators are a problem in math classes... the biggest problem I see is teachers giving up and letting kids slip by in math classes (as math is a decently hard subject to teach)...giving them good grades for "trying".

    The biggest reason that education in the US is lacking is the teachers, in my opinion. An encouraging, INTELLIGENT teacher is the best motivation a child can have. All you need to become a teacher here (at least in Tennessee...) is a high school education and a teaching degree (you dont even have to really STUDY the subject you will be teaching). That's SERIOUSLY wrong.
