The only way I can think of removing your information is to edit your profile with random information that makes sense but is generic. Replace all critical information such as addresses or phone numbers with fake addresses. Remove all photos and just have a few generic stock photos. The idea is to make the account look legit but with no information that can be used against you.

This will correct the issue of current viewable information. Next you need to lock down your profile with as much security as possible, disable messages, turn on approvals for anything, lock it down like Fort Knox so it stays static as long as possible.

Now comes the part you have no control over. You need to let the account sit for months if not years. Over time they (Myspace or Facebook) will need to purge older backups and can only keep current relevant information. So now the older backups are over-written and being written into the system is your current BS profile, but this can take months to years to do and that depends on how much Myspace/Facebook or any social site is willing to retain.

Whatever you do, don't just delete the account or use their automated deletion system cause that's not really doing the job you want. That most likely puts it into a special repository for recoveries in case you want to come back.

With Microsoft you are not paying for the software, you're paying for the license, that's why they ship all versions on one disc. Its cheaper on their part from a deployment stand point and manufacturing, but they had all versions of Windows 7 ready at day one and you could choose openly which license you wanted, this wasn't hidden from you and you had the option to purchase whatever version you wanted.

The problem here is that you purchased a game that had the game and the first DLC for it already available on the disc. This is acceptable and but seems like a slap to the face that they had a portion of the product ready (without your knowledge) and put it on your disc but now charging you to unlock it.

Of course the simple thing for them to do is not place the DLC on the disc and make you download it, but people will get pissed off that on day 1 their DLC already available.

That fact its on the disc puts us at the assumption that this content was already ready at release but was put in the DLC category to make a quick buck.

Seems like a cheap way to nickel and dime us which is becoming the defining definition of this generation of gaming development and consoles.

DLC is a great concept but has turned into such a cash cow that companies are now developing the game and DLC at the same time so to increase their revenue pipeline in a shorter span of time. Its smart from a revenue perspective but the $5 here and the $5 there is starting to add up and to a customer perspective we feel like were getting screwed.

    On a side note though:

What I am worried about is Blizzard who is taking it to a whole new level. They will release the first part of SC2 which is the Terran campaign. So far they say its going to contain all the content need for Multiplayer. I guarantee when they release the second campaign (lets say Protoss) which right now is going to cost the same prices as the Terran ($60), so now were up to ($120) for both and without the Protoss campaign installed you can only play multiplayer with those that only own the Terran campaign thus eliminating a huge portion of the multiplayer population cause you cant play with those that own both the Terran and Protoss. Same concept as with regular SC and Broodwar, except this is will cost more than a $30 expansion. By the end of the series you are out $180. Pure speculation but it seems like a good revenue pipeline.

...the once-booming genre of peripheral-equipped music games. Although the franchise has generated over $1 billion to date, the category in general saw sales contract by as much as half throughout 2009

Maybe its because the same peripherals could be used from Rock Band with Rock Band 2? The upfront cost of the game initially is expensive but once you have the guitars, microphone, and drum set the cost is significantly cheaper to move to a new edition and that's where the sales start to contract. The same goes for the Guitar Hero series also.

Personally, I think the genre has entered its maturity when it comes to growth and needs some drastic change or needs to evolve into something different. One solution might be introducing new peripherals but they need more advanced peripherals because at this point you need to justify paying for another 15 pounds of plastic.

Yeah, I would say its because we have government agencies still running on the same core processes and infrastructure from 20-30 years ago. And during those 30 years more processes and infrastructure was infused into the original processes and infrasture thus making it more complex.

The only way to fix this is to overhaul the entire system which is very very costly and would take hundreds of thousands of hours to implement. You cant simply fix one part of the process either; because you are only as fast as the slowest process.

The government could be highly efficient but no one is willing to spend the time or money to make this happen. Heck, I font even remember the last time an actual government agency was either cut or had a major overhaul.

Bottom line it all comes down to money and which government official is willing to put his name on the same paper as the price tag.

This is just wrong in so many ways. By that logic we wouldn't have anti-trust laws, safety regulations, or anything cause the corporation is always in the right. Well lets look at three examples where corporations were in the wrong and it required legislation to fix it.

We now have food regulation in place because a can of beef contained more than just beef. The corporations believed they could save money by filling a can of beef with half beef and half whatever the hell they wanted without telling us. Now we have food regulations in place to prevent this cause corporations were not trusted to do what was right.

Cars used to not have seat belts and the corporations claimed putting a seat belt in gave off the impression of a car not being safe. We now have legislation in place that require automobiles to have seat belts because cars were unsafe without seat belts.

And ENRON executives were in the right to deliberately lie about profits and performance of the company because simply whatever the corporation does makes its right. Now we have multiple anti-trust laws in place to make executives responsible for what they sign off.

Three examples of where corporations were wrong and cost lives. Why the hell would corporations be in the right in any of these examples?

So I am amazed to see a 86% number being thrown out there yet never seen this problem before.

No offense but I'm going to side with the guy who appears to make his living testing these sorts of things ... the guy who is offering me numbers.

And now lets quote something from the article...

Barth acknowledged that XPnet's data couldn't determine whether the memory usage was by the operating system itself, or an increased number of applications, but said that Devil Mountain would start working on finding which is the dominant factor in increased memory use.

This single sentence makes the article rubbish. They have no clue whats causing the heavy memory usage, its just an assumption that the OS is causing it and they're yelling fire before looking through all the data or completely analyzing the problem.

You wouldn't have this problem on PC, anyone with a server or internet connection can host their own.

You would still have problems with PC. DOS games can be played on DOSbox, but working DOSbox with network support is nightmare. And emulation is never 100% so you can always run into problems. Privateer was nearly impossible to run on a modern system until emulation came around.

Running 3D Accelerated games is hit or miss since modern drivers tend to break backward compatibility. So many of those early classics will run with graphic glitches or not at all. My Nvidia driver from six months ago broke my Jedi Knight: Dark Forces and that no longer runs.

Some games were made to use M-Player and HEAT.NET and now would require a third-party plugin to work. This requires someone with knowledge and the time to fix. Command and Conquer Gold requires third-party hacked files to run properly on a modern OS. Of course than Westwood Online is no longer available so you need to find an alternative.

If you're real lucky the company released the source code to the game like ID Software and its been rewritten or ported but that's very rare.

Emulation is an option but that opens a whole can of worms, especially with 3D Acceleration emulation.

PC is better but it has a lot of gotchas. The reason its better is because its easier to fix a PC game than a closed-console. The funny thing is, there are ways to get multiplayer to work for Halo and Halo 2 on the xbox without going through LIVE.
