Does the fact that I remember when altavista was the best search engine mean I'm getting old?? Was it really that long ago? I guess it was in internet time. *Sigh* guess it's almost time to break out the Matlock and prune juice.
The problem with this is that USB 2.0 is making a huge splash in the consumer market. I don't see why people will go out and get another add on card for FireWire 2.0 when the USB 2.0 one they just got offers everything they need.
Add to that most new PC's are shipping with USB 2.0 and I think FireWire 2 will be lucky to find a niche market.
I can't see any reason why the average customer will be wooed by tablet PC's.
"So I can take this thing anywhere? And write on it? And then accidently drop it in the toliet?"
Unless they come in somehow way under the price of your cheap desktop or at around the same price. I don't see anyone but tablet loving geeks adopt these.
(Special applications not withstanding: Hospitals, Lawyers, some businesses might find them useful. Then again they got PocketPC's for that.)
This patent currently waiting for clearance will cover and protect my latest creation.
A variety of ways to induce conciousness, including but not limited to, biological, mechanical, and chemical(from here referred to as [the processes]). Along with the means necessary to support the processes.
All 6 billion+ of you humans are now in violation of my patent. Pay me. Oh and my list shows one HAL 9000 as well. Pay me too.
My old boss was huge into stereos he'd laugh at you if you thought Monster was high quality. REAL TRUE Audiophiles are of a totally different breed. And I've done the blind test with my boss' cables on his system.
Even I could hear a big difference and that's saying a lot. And yes, records do sound better than CD's
J/K what's IE's percentage nowadays? 94% I'm praying that they'll support all W3C standards soon though. And not for cross-browser design issues. But there are zero books on Developing Webpages for IE.
Everything I read teaches the W3C ways. Like they should damnit.
Also rendering this kind of useless. Who wants to have to be that close to a laptop/desktop at all times? Something tells me that you'd better stay within 7meters if you don't want pictures to be lost.
Bluetooth has some nifty applications, but it's lowbandwith short range limits it. Why not a camera with built in 802.11b?
Like all new games it will run best on a beast of a computer. But with Doom 3 Carmack and friends said they made sure you could run it on a low-mid range PC. The only thing is you don't get all the eye-candy turned on.
MMMmmmmmm, eye candy. When Doom3 is released, hopefully nVidia will have their NV30 out to compete with the ATI 9700. (nVidia if you're reading you know you NEED to have the NV30 out when Doom3 comes out)
It wasn't hard todo. I guess I've caught a glipse of shows when someone else is watching it, but I've never sat down to watch something.
But for all those who complain about TV, you might as well complain about everything you find entertaining. Out goes Internet, books, conversation, games. I think we should all just sit around a campfire and stare. Then we can sleep, and then spend all day hunting. That way we don't have to worry about free time cause we'll be fighting for survival, just like 3 billion of our fellow humans.
Do people watch too much TV, probably. That doesn't make them bad or stupid. It's a choice not an addiction. If it were, I would consider living an addiction. Cause we all have to do something with our time, even if it is deemed worthless. And I know a few people who have thought live as worthless. See if you can't go a week without living. You get cranky? angry even? I know I would if I quite living.
Blah blah blah, I'm ranting cause I'm just really tired. Apologies for the illogical nature of this post.
Did you only play Quake 3? I had so many problems with the Radeon 64MB DDR that I owned. Sacrifice, B&W, to name a couple, and these were problems that made the game unplayable.
ATI has just recently made a commitment to improving their drivers with the CATALYST series of drivers. Kind of like nVidia's Detonator. But there are still problems. Ever since my Geforce I've never looked at any other graphics card, simply because of the great driver support by nVidia. Even their closed source X drivers work great.
The great thing about the Universal AGP 3.0 is that you can get a board with it in the coming months and a decent AGP 2.0 card for a decent price.
Then when your hardware is starting to lag (for games) you can go out and get an 8X card that will have matured, and become afordable. The performance gains, from moving to 8X from 4X, might be only a few percent, but couple that with a new ATI or NV card down the road and boom you got playable framerates again.
We could have the very best Desktop in the world, but without it being preinstalled on PC's we'll never going to make any inroads as far as mainstream home PC's go.
Most likely as someone mentioned we'll see it installed in areas completely controlled by IT. Like universities and some corporations.
Never at home. Why? You have Joe Whoever browsing the web, enjoying what he's doing. A friend tells him to go download App XYZ. Now, what are the odds that XYZ is going to be a Windows app, and when it doesn't run, Joe will A) Start reading and searching for an alternative and in the process end up learning something? B) Whine and bitch and then give up to go stare at the bug zapper C) Whine and bitch to the poor tech support people who will never get Joe to understand that there are multiple OS's out there?
For those of you who want to see M$ lose its strangle hold on the market. Develop FREE OPEN SOURCE WINDOWS CODE!!!! We got plenty of *nix code. Those with C skill please, I know it will be painful, but go out and learn to program for Windows.
Enlightenment will always be my window manager and xterm will be my desktop::)
Most actually DO have tv-out and most of the GF4 you fill find with VIVO. All GF3 & 4 have a DVI & Analog for dual monitors, and you can even get dual DVI.
It was submitted above that the judge thought poorly of the case prior to it being brought to the court. It certainly did not help to try and replace him, when several lawyers I discussed this with said it was suicidal.
Then the whole image problem came about. I wasn't there, but someone said that one of 2600 lawyers had an earring. I'm all for self expression, but that's just not professional imho. You will not beat them if you bring your rules along.
Could we have gotten a bunch of business men to attend the trial? It's all about the $$$ my friends.
I just added something along those lines to my website. I agree it's a cool idea. Of course mine is way more simplistic ::P

Eolas: We will not accept your dirty money.
MS: How bout $1 billion of our dirty dollars.
Eolas: Very well, but be rest assured we're going to wash it really well!!
I'll believe it when I see it

I know RAM is cheap, but has anyone noticed Phoenix using less memory than Mozilla?
Dada cha(sounds of drums then cymbals crash) ::)
He'll be here all week from 7-9, folks, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Disgusting.

Buy one Ti4200 64Meg version, overclock core to 305Mhz, memory to 580Mhz. Stability? No problem.
Seriously you can't forget to mention that the Ti4200's overclock like crazy. That's why they're the best budget card.
That's just my Ti4200. I'm sure with some RAM sinks on it (like other 4200's have) I could get the memory to ~600Mhz.
The Leadtek Winfast PCI TV Tuner won't fit?

Seems most MP3 players play WMA now too. Any fees for that decoder?

Wouldn't the bottleneck be the AGP bus? Even with the new 8X spec?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it seems unless a total rewrite of a codebase is done the bad seems to simply stick around. Adding to the bloat.
Most actually DO have tv-out and most of the GF4 you fill find with VIVO. All GF3 & 4 have a DVI & Analog for dual monitors, and you can even get dual DVI.
Unravelling, understanding, decompiling, reverse engineering, or whatever you want to call it
::)
Will they come after you waving the DCMA if you do such a thing?
I dunno, maybe they really revamped it, but didn't BOB die a quick death the first time they released it?
