Sony's brash stance on "The PS3 is awesome, people won't care about the price" is getting way out of hand. I hopefully DREAM that this is just the biggest mark-up ploy of this century and they surprise us with a price drop a few days/weeks before launch date. If people found out that the price was going down, they'd jump all over it, even it was just a $50-$100 drop for each console type.
I was planning on getting a PS3, but with the way they're treating their customers, as if we need to be grateful for handing them over $600+ for a machine and some games, I won't until it drops in price considerably, which will be in a few years since obviously we all shouldn't care about the price, it's "THAT GOOD". Fuck you Sony, learn to respect your customers because you're going down if you don't.
For starters, people don't give a shit about people they know, in fact, if I told anyone I was writing this, they'd tell me to shut up and kick my genitals. However on the internet, where everyone congregates to, to avoid society, people do care since their internet personality is what they really want to be. So these people write down their feelings, and since they usually don't tell their "friends" they have other friends that do care and put their input on whether or not Susan is cute and he should get enough courage to ask him out.
Quite frankly, a blog is a persons personal diary and it allows a lot of people to view it and not have the ramifications there would be if you'd say, read your sisters diary. People are so enchanted by this, and that's what brings people to blogs...
I hate blogs though. There's no fun in reading my sisters diary since it's online now.... Oh well...
I'm glad the franchise is still existing and moving on. It's good for the gaming community as well as the company. Enix produces some quality RPG's and without Final Fantasy the lives of all/.ers wouldn't be the same.
It's a lot more than $50 for something else besides a Dell, unless you're building one. Dell's are so insanely cheap for their low end models that even building your own can hardly compete. Dell is well known for putting insane advertisement programs on the machines, bloatware as it's called. To get a machine that's equivalent to a low-end dell would cost a few hundred dollars more at a retail store, simply because they're trying to get money.
Your argument makes absolutely perfect sense, however you fail to realize one thing. Companies don't give two shits about their consumers as long as they remain consumers to them. If they can save X dollars by paying someone else less money to do their tech support, and the consumer 95% of the time won't change services, IE Dell since they've already paid for the machine, WHY should they care? When you're speaking to someone regarding BUYING a Dell, and I'll use Dell for example, 99% of the time it's to someone within North America. Why? Because it's easier to place your order and get info on it from someone with a native dialect to your region. However, tech support, why spend $2-4/hr more for someone to resolve the issue for them when they don't absolutely need to?
Used to work as a customer service rep for Dell and they ALWAYS complained about speaking to those "indjin folks" and they were happy to speak with a "white" person. I can just imagine them waiting on the phone, then talking to an Indian and then something explodes from all the outbreaks of violence going on over there, not only will that piss the customer off even more, because quite frankly the people that called Dell were usually from the south there's a huge hint of racism, he'll probably keep calling again until he speaks with a "white" person and then make a rude remark regarding the violence that just occurred.
Are you talking about scary? Because there are some reasonably scary games. F.E.A.R. is the first that comes to my mind, especially when you play at night.
Now, if by disturbing you mean like something extremely sadistic like children being torn apart in a cutscene or in game, or something to that nature, I doubt it will ever reach that level. I doubt the game industry will ever go as far as torturting children in a game, and that is something I think is distburbing.
For a game to really disturb you, it needs to strike a fear in all of us. It needs to take something that could happen and explore that and expand on those ideas. A lot of people found The Ring scary, I didn't, but that's not the point. The way it ended was pretty good and I'm sure a lot of people were frightened by us. If a game was made that was similar in nature, and left the person thinking.... Could this really happen? That's when a game is disturbing. Currently games leave just glimpses of fear that fade in a few days, and only return when they go back to the game. A game needs to leave a lasting impression with the player that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
From reading the article is that AMD is aware of Intels changing business practices and are now preparing their next line as soon as possible to combat the possible shift in market share. Let's face it, most of us know that AMD has been killing Intel for years and it's about time Intel finally pull their heads out of their asses and start working on something WORTH the money. Not only will this make more competition, it will give us those very nice price cuts that I can't wait for.:)
Nintendo has just released the Rainbow coloured DS Lite. It was heard that they are a multicultural hand-held company and won't make the same mistakes Sony has.
Just face it, with the internet as it stands today, no matter what you do, there will always be cases of viruses, malware, spyware, adware, etc etc. The only way to really not be affected by this is to NOT use the Internet which in the corporate world is basically a no no. Maybe have a couple of machines that use the Internet when needed and the rest on the server are dead to the net.
It seems women are getting more and more fed up with us males that they're working diligantly on not needing us anymore. We can choose which sex, now we're working on assisting "couples" (of women) in having babies. Damn... At least I've procreated!
"And the race begins.... But the cars don't seem to be moving.... *listens to earpiece* What's that? All the cars have the BSOD! Look, all the techies are running out rebooting their cars.... Oh no... That one crashed again! Oh this is a sad day in racing!"
Adventure games are what got me hooked to on games to begin with. Zork is the first that comes to mind and that led me to delve into the MUD communities. Story lines are a big thing for me and if the game has a very crappy story line, the game just doesn't do it for me. Of course if the gameplay blows, then that won't do it for me either. Adventure games are however not nearly as productive as say shooters are MMO's. Companies realize this as do the consumers....
After refusing to use my Sony fanboyism, I objectively looked at the next-gen consoles. This article is unfortunately right. Unless Sony's mission is to make it seem so expensive now, then drop it $100 for each version by launch date, I can't see the PS remaining the #1 console. Until the price drops significantly over the next few years or they DO as I suggest and drop the price towards launch date to make a huge buzz, I see the Wii coming out on top.
Considering if they deny that it will KILL your machine so it can't run Windows anymore, that's fine. But come the fall when it says "You have 30 days to purchase a legal copy of Windows or else we'll severely restrict what you can use on the machine such as calculator, e-mail support, TCP/IP restrictions, et cetera et cetera...." then they should be able to still do it. I wouldn't be surprised if this is their approach either.
Yes, it won't KILL your machine, but it'll be so restricted it won't even be worth running anymore.
Obviously the iPod is a huge success in the world, and other companies are trying to copy them as best as they can to try and share some of the success. This is basically equivalent of Microsoft opening up the code for Windows so it could be analyzed. They dominate the market simply because they have excellent business strategies, though that could be questionable depending on who you talk to.
How quickly hysteria can travel for unexplained reasons. Remember Y2K? Hysteria. Remember all those times the terror threat was elevated to orange or whatever colour? Hysteria. And now this? People are suckers.

The real reason sales are up is because Chuck Norris said real men play games all day, and people strive to be like Chuck Norris.

Sega Genesis... Who wants to get something that has a biblical reference?
Sega Saturn... Named after a car? A planet? How about something original.
Sega DreamCast... Perfect name for it. They had a dream and it was so bad they went broke and needed a cast.
Poor Sega....

Come on, Microsoft and privacy DO NOT belong in the same sentence. Just like NSA and phone.
