Don't quote me on this because I'm not entirely sure on it. My fiance's father is an automechanic and he once told me this - the last quarter tank is the smallest. In other words, the guage does indeed lie to you... the second half of the tank will dwindle faster because its smaller.
Agreed. I charge my cell phone every night on my nightstand, wake up to its alarm, and it most definitely lasts the entire day. With this habit, I've never even seen the bar go down more than halfway (nor would I panic if it did - I have a car charger too for business trips).
As for noise, it is inevitable AND I came to terms with it.
Consider it a trade off... for a lot of industries, such as medicine, the US ends up paying the cost of R&D plus the cost of the med while a lot of countries end up paying just for the cost of the med.
Keep in mind that developing countries benefit from this moreso than developed countries. You have no need for cheap laptops, but the world does. While the 7" screen is definitely a pitfall in my opinion, I suppose that it would serve a purpose. Also, while cheaper than OLPC, I feel as if this might be geared more towards young adults with a "serious" computer need rather than the Sugar OS, which is a bit childish in my opinion.
I agree - I think that bootleg movies probably affect DVD sales rather than theatre ticket sales.
If a movie looks good, I go see it in the theatre. I then have the decision of wanting to see it again or not. If its bad, then I won't waste my time. If its good, then I ask myself, do I want to see it now, or in 4-8 months? Then, I ask myself, does a bootlegged copy give the movie justice or does this movie deserve a case, dvd menu, extras, etc.
Using Wall-E as an example... I saw it in the movies once, might see it again, might get the illegal version, and then will buy the DVD when its released. Do I do this for every film? Absolutely not... and trust me, I've lowered my standards for what constitutes a good film.
Security is vital knowledge... as time passes, the criminals get smarter. It is impossible to mitigate all possible threats 100% of the time, but in order to keep the probability of these threats low, you have to be on the same playing field as the criminals. If not, well, you've seen what happened to the Death Star.
Might be a good time to buy Apple stock. Let's be realistic, they will be sucessful with or without Jobs. In fact, there is the possibility of them being even MORE successful without him.
iPhone, iPod, etc... these items, love them or hate them, are devices that sell. I guarantee Rachel, the Alpha Beta Delta serority girl will have both and not even know who Steve Jobs is.
In Western culture, pull a string on a Barbie and she'll say "Math is hard!"
Maybe we are all equally capable at math and cultural factors hold us back rather than propel us forward (example, technology). If anything, our ability to rely on technology is holding us back - as an example, its a culture shock for a lot of freshman college students to not use calculators.
...and it was such a pleasant Friday morning until I heard this news.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I would be willing to take a lifetime of spam to spare the life of his wife and daughter. The positive news of the story (the spam king is gone for good) pales in the shadow of this tragedy.
Now, my bank is your average run of the mill security. No complaints, but I'm sure they have some mistakes. However, I have two comments. First of all, a lot of laptops are utilizing fingerprint scanners nowadays. I'd like to see that integrated into web applications somehow.
Secondly, and probably a more significant comment is that the mitigation of security threats is not a guarantee. It is a PROBABILITY. All security features - firewalls, IDS, certificates, authentications, etc are based off of mitigating threats - not eliminating them. Additionally, the general rule is that as time goes on, security improves and criminals get more sophisticated and smarter. It is an ongoing battle and the probability will never be 0%. Honestly, I feel rather safe and so should you. Unless your bank has some whacko rules (which browsing over the comments I can clearly see) and/or some serious security issues, then you are at a low enough risk.
Just to bring up an interesting point, in the Animatrix's story about the rise of power of machines, they start out as humanoid (as we designed them that way) and evolve into insect-like creatures by the end as they continue to improve upon their robotic designs.
Perhaps they design it way because they know its a working model.
While I agree that diversity and innovation might bring about positive change, let evolution bring about change rather than forcing it.
Me and CDs have a love hate relationship. When I was a kid, the CD just started coming out and becoming popular. At first I was in awe and treated the CD with respect. Now, I have literally hundreds of CDR/RW that I consider disposable and burn, use, and forget about. I guess this is an apology CD... I hope you can someday forgive me.

I mean, it might be nice to have a noise bar, but I rather have features that were more useful.

"...their research showed many users have a hard time differentiating between legal and illegal content online."
Were these users interrogated under a heat lamp in a dark room with the usual good cop bad cop routine?

God, sorry people.

Those chicks from Mars Colony Alpha Beta Four are into some kinky stuff.
So... no more taking online tests in the nude?
Hey, with the way our country has been heading, this would be great resume material - even if convicted. Its not like they lost a database of SSNs...
I heard he was designing spam bots with pen and paper in the big house, an army the likes of which this world has never seen.

Yeah, we should start a blog about that!

Yeah, after he got his hands on SP1.
Ironically enough, all they asked for was for Spike to take Most Extreme Elimination Challenge off the air.
EveryBODY... but not everyTHING.
