Reminds me of the Chris Rock quote: "We're not just voting for him 'cause he's black, we're voting for him 'cause he's black AND qualified." Besides, majority of African Americans vote Democrat anyways. This statistic is only newsworthy now that the Democratic candidate was African American.
Not only that, but the enormous amount of debt that a US student can take on if they don't receive aid and/or their parents' help can be a turn off for many. The tuition prices are a bit out of control exceeding inflation rates - and don't get me started on the price gouging tactics of the required book market. I'm definitely not the smartest person in the world, but I am above average, and the only thing preventing me from going back to school (even part time) for my Masters and beyond is money. I'm a brave one, confident in myself to handle the near 100k debt for my BS (its a lot, but I'm fine financially), but I'd assume not everyone is up to that challenge. And not every capable scholar is capable of tackling down 100k worth of loans with some private loans reaching interest rates in double digits. Here is any idea - instead of finances being the limiting factor in education and in the bigger picture, qualification for a good career/salary. How about just improving our schooling system so it rewards the smart and not the financially established?
I disagree. I don't think Google is entirely hell bent on dominating the online advertising industry with every little thing they release/announce. Sure, it may be one of their priority goals, but I'm pretty sure they are wanting to diversify themselves to ensure that when competition comes around, they don't have all their eggs in one basket. I really think that they are just trying to capture a small niche of the market just as a branding effort - not a big brother/advertising scheme. Its a new pond and they are in it with some big fish - like the ATT + Apple duo. At this point in time there is nothing they can do that can overthrow that, but they can chisel away at them just by trying to dream up an unconventional business model. I really think they are just buttering us up and pissing off the competition just because they can. Then, one day, they'll drop the big bomb on us. It'll be some sort of voip phone that uses some sort of national WAN they set up when we were sleeping.
Not only have I played Phoenix Wright, but also SimCity and Civilization. I'm pretty sure that qualifies me for President in 2012. I'm also fairly certain I know the cheatcode to fix the economy.
Great. Now program me a Simtower spinoff. Oh, and a Stronghold one too. Maybe a Harvest Moon one too if you get around to it. I'll pay $2.99 for each. Thanks, I'll be waiting.:)
Well, I don't have much legal experience, but I do know a bit about entrepreneurship. What you are suggesting is great.... if its a BIG corporation. However, you have to remember that the structure of a corporation also exists to protect small corporations as well. So if John Doe's Flower Delivery Corporation has one of its drivers hit some little kid playing in the street, its not at his/her own personal risk. The little kid's parents can sue the corporation.... but not the owner(s). This separation protects an entrepreneur's personal assets from the corporate assets. Otherwise, you can start a business, and your whole life is at risk of your employees. Unfortunately, it looks like this is an abused loophole.
I'm wanting to prove that nerd stereotypes, like most stereotypes, are false presumptions. Just as if there was a book for Jocks that talked about how they were in their prime in sports, but failed at academics - or something racially discriminating. The word nerd still has a negative connotation and until we bridge the gap of the two definitions (intelligent/capable on one polar side and socially ackward/shunned on the other), the term nerd in our culture will continue to be negative.
What am I?

What am I then? Nerd, Geek, Normal? Is there such a thing as a neo-nerd or neo-geek?
I was actually pretty popular in high school and college, a very social individual, played a few (varsity) sports, played in a band, was good with the ladies throughout my younger years, and now I'm engaged to a beautiful lady. However, I'm also unhealthily addicted to video games (played many, many games dating back to the DOS era), a large Star Wars fan (I have action figures, books and cards still), had close to a 4.0 in HS, was in the gifted program (and went to academic competitions), got a BS in a computer field, work in the IT industry, own almost every console (as well as a GB, GBA, DS, and lynx), have multiple computers with multiple operating systems, program in several languages, made a few video games, made a few websites, etc. I know pretty much everything a nerd would know - but I don't have the nerd negative stereotypes. What does that make me?
I believe their reasoning (detaching my own personal opinion) is that drugs impair people. Imagine a lot more coked up people driving on our roads and highways and walking around neighborhoods. Unlike alcohol, some drugs cannot be used in moderation - some instantly and completely get people wasted and make them dangerous to society.
Having Circuit City close will not change the demand for certain electronics. People would just have to go elsewhere to buy them (or whoever buys out CC - which someone will - will simply replace them). There might be some effects, but it will be minimal.
I'm guessing that a couple thousand layoffs of individuals who probably don't make that much isn't going to be the end of the world. Billions of dollars was lost when AIG tanked - remember that it is an international company... one of the largest... with investors all over the world. So, Circuit City going out of business is a paper cut on the economy whereas AIG would be a gash on the jugular.
I finished it and about a third of the way through I started cracking up. I just found it completely hilarious that the first guy was so apalled by him spewing nonsense. About 2/3 of the way through I came to the conclusion that they might be the same person. Perhaps he just wanted more recognition. And like those before me, as I was finishing the last few sentences, I felt like I had to wash my hair.
I agree full heartedly. Votes DO count. They DO matter. For crying out loud, vote for SOMEBODY or SOMETHING. Even if it is just a single issue its better than nothing at all (yes, I said it even though that is something that bothers me too). Vote third party or some random candidate that best fits you. If you don't vote, you aren't proving some sort of elitist point or shoving it to the man. You are in the same category as too-dumb-to-vote/care High School drop-out Joe.
Or you can do what PSU does and occasionally give them courtesy emails explaining the situation (50% bandwidth used, 75% warning, etc.) and if they do happen to go over, punish them with 56k speeds for a bit. That way you don't lose your customer, you protect your precious bandwidth, and maybe you'll prevent a few people from doing it again (or at least educate them on the matter).

To add insult to injury, I don't recall ever being able to return a PC game.

Sounds like someone at the FTC got ninja looted by a minor.

I was making something similar, but they glowed when orcs were nearby.

Anybody want to join my AntiVirus start up? We are at Threat Con Three currently and the sales are pouring in.

Computers already have souls - its their BIOS!

This idea was invented by Shampoo.

Who needs battery life when you can play Fallout3 on the crapper!

Yes, but let us hope that the best alternative fuel solution is implemented and not the most profitable.

Now if we can only find a pilot that can maneuver down a trench and target a thermal exhaust port 2 meters wide...
GAWD! First Google with jet fighters... now Bill Gates with think TANKS. What's next?
Or better yet, .nospam
