Frighteningly Insightful. I wish I had points to mod this up. Get the majority to shun those who don't cooperate and force other businesses to play nice or face the monopolized wrath.
So how about the fact that most people don't even use this kind of Blank Media for music? Is this tax imposed upon iPods/mp3 players? Otherwise this has turned out to be a waste of money for Canadians, and hasn't achieved the goal set out at all.
Due to harvesting we are now facing a crisis in our Earth's most valuable natural asset, Dirt. We must do something now, or soon we will be floating in space without a Planet!
Unfortunately a lot of laws and rules are created and govern the masses based on the few.
And not just at the inconvenience of the few, but rather of the many. Does it make sense? Only if you think that by forcing everyone to do less you can restrain the ones that don't care about the rules.
Oh wait, that doesn't really make sense either . . . well so much for thinking about it, let's just blindly follow . . . Patriot Act FTW!
Isn't this a concept. That those charged in the protection and upbringing of children should take care of these things, and leave our
personal freedoms alone. Who is this judge, and someone give him a promotion and a raise for using common sense and some foresight.
I liked this as well: which they will with age inherit fully
Gives some real insight into the Protect the Children mentality. How about we protect what they will value as adults?
I dont' know how wild most people are living quite so close to work. That day you *cough* call in sick *cough* and run down to get a soda or something and bump into a peer or worse yet a superior . . .
Not to disagree, because I code all day and type very quickly, but have you seen most teenagers with a cell phone? I think there is something typing in a way other than with which we are accustom. The key also may be that the trade off in speed is acceptable for the convenience of the size.
Riiiiiight. Java isn't worth while but Scheme and Lisp are. And you have Javascript in there! Talk about holding back advancements and soaking up time and energy. Apparently nobody has told you enough Car and Cdr jokes.
*Disclaimer, I know all of the languages listed above.
By far there are other things being ignored. I'm sure that both the desire 'to be seen' making things more secure, and to some small extent (cringe before impact) that some IT guys do that simply to excecise the power that they have.
Are there better things that can be done? Perhaps, but for that user that argued with them about how to attach a file to an email, perhaps it's just too easy to say that your iPod is a liability. And further to that point, I'm sure some IT guys just don't want one other thing that someone is going to ask them questions about.
Orin Hatch is certainly not getting my vote. If for nothing else, I'm happy to throw my vote on a no name to help raise the numbers of those that won't stand for his lack of foresight, to put a little more funding against him, to lower his comfort level and domination, and to just plain boost the numbers of the 'other guy'.
I saw this as well. I thought to myself if this is what Sony calls advertising, then it is right on par with all the other bad things I've been hearing about them lately. Then I too ran for my closet.
See the reply to the post above yours. I think this adequetly speaks to what I had in mind when I posted this (though does go into further detail of the erosions of our freedom). But basically, I'm not grouping all security guards as theives, nor do I even imply this, but I am saying that some people are going to take advantage of it for their own means. And, as I stated above, if you don't think so then I think that you are being naive.
Not supposed to happen that way. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen. There are plenty of things that aren't supposed to be going the way they are, but still are. Take any major political news event of late. If you don't care for a realists view of matters, perhaps you should consider outside viewpoints as something other than 'flamebait'.
Welcome to the New America. It's only dangerous because so many don't think for themselves and are decieved on a daily basis. And someone that tries to tell them they are decided, well, they are just crazy people. Objective Thought? Pffff, sounds like crazy talk to me.
So question is, what 'controls' or tells the cells when to start and stop? I would hope this is a question being asked, because it would seem to this simple geek that the answer to that would both unlock the usage of stem/cord/etc cells and perhaps aid in stopping cancer (when cells decide to go haywire).
So you write a widgit that creates a request object and POSTs it to the server.
It's the same info being sent, it's just how it's viewed in the addressbar.
Totally off topic now, but an interesting deviation.
1, 2, 3, and 4 on your list are incorrect though. This is what employees people, maintains government influence to your average person that has no other contact that traffic tickets (we all know someone that does some drug).
But most importantly, the government makes far more revenue off of court fees, probation, the ability to exploit your 'record' against you later, etc than they would off the taxed revenue. And that doesn't count everyone that has a job (like the many many lawyers, police officers, etc), that makes a living or makes money off of that.
So while I agree with you 100%, the government just ain't going to give it up for the $$. It would have to be by demand of the people or key politicians. And as some people feel that it's religiously or morally wrong, that won't happen for fear of upsetting the christian/moral population.

I can see it now . . .

Right, let's give the DHS the key so that only they can spoof their addresses. How is this good?
Why isn't is given to a group to control and enforce that has some balance, other than just 'trusting' that government should have this power?
"The Internet is free, oh except we hold the keys . . . " doesn't sound quite right to me.

Best point made here.

Wasn't this a video game on the Simpsons? Convert the heathens or something along those lines?
Lawsuit from the RIAA for infringing use of their point in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .
Exactly the type of 'trust' that is being exploited in this article. I hope you said it that way to intentionally satire TFA.

Is that some Security Guards just want new laptops, and the law provides them plenty of holes to avoid having to answer for it.

Still skewed by the people motivating it.
Does it taste right when mixed (with liqour)? If so, I think I have my new workout plan!
