Alternately, how long has there been visible life on earth? Out of earth's ~15 billion year lifetime, there is estimated to be only about 3 billion years of life, most of which I would believe to be basic bacteria, exactly what we're finding on these other planets.
Where did you get that number? AFAIK, 15 billion years is approximately the age of the universe, while the solar system (and the earth) is estimated to be about 4.5 billion years old.
That resolution is PAL VideoCD resolution, and it's not so bad, actually. It's comparable to a VHS tape. Assuming the bits-per-second is comparable to that of a VCD, and a clean source, it should look quite tolerable.
This evening, I watched a brand-new episode of a brand-new tv series, which I had digitally stored on an ordinary CD-R disc, on an ordinary DVD player!;-)
Well, basically, what they're saying is: "We made this neat program, which you can use, but in return, you have to promise you won't compete with us."
If this clause had always been in the EULA, there would have been no problem: people would've known what they were getting into.
But now, apparently, the clause has appeared in a revised version of the EULA, which would now force users to switch if they find the new terms unacceptable. This is obviously not a nice practice.

They had a commercial aired during the Super Bowl.
Yes, I got that impression too, when I first read about it. Encouraging newbie users to run everything as root, that's just bad. Why bother not using Windows when you're going to do all your Linux activities as root?
Sorry for the slower site last night, we got a little over-run because we managed to get a lot of Xbox screenshots before any other sites last night and thus about ten big name sites were linking
too us. (emphasis mine)
Amazing! They even make grammatical errors in the editorials, just like Slashdot!
The Home buttons gets placed in the small toolbar, while the other buttons get placed in the big one with the location and the Back/Forward/Reload/Stop buttons.
Years ago, I saw an ad which had the colours of the five guilder and ten guilder bills swapped. (Since it had a five guilder bill on it, it must've been from before 1990, when the five guilder coin was introduced.)
Wouldn't it actually be worth USD 400 to 500, instead of 40 to 50?
This post deserves to be modded down :-P

CAPS LOCK. You should've written it in CAPS! :-P
Yes, I happen to have five, but not in this thread anymore ;-)

It's called "water poisoning", IIRC :-P
Sounds odd, doesn't it?
Prof. Farnsworth: "Fry, you have discovered the smelliest object in the known universe!"
Bender: "Name it after me!"
Yes, and:
SUBTRACT A FROM B GIVING C.
Which is COBOL, btw. A language universally horrified.
"Give us McNeal, or we will raze your major cities with our anti-monument lasers!"

Not on the same channel, of course

I saw quite a lot (relatively speaking) of deleted comments, which had been judged to be trolls.

Learning is fun!
But ``I'' will be replaced by ``3y3'' ;-)
Sometimes he does. If you want to know in which episodes exactly, ask the Comic Book Guy :-P
FYI, I've been using Mozilla since version 0.6, and am fairly happy about it. I don't use most of those optional buttons anyway.

Why do you think there are so many IRC clients?
GAIM supports IRC too.
