The only people who need privacy are terrorists.
Just imagine the possibilities, not only online activities will be monitored, but so will offline ones. It will be the rise of the real Big Brother. God bless America!
The problem are studios that require DRM to sell their products(aka FOX) and studios that have major marketshares and think they can tell us what to do or buy(aka Sony).
Sadly, without the mpaa endorsement, I don't think any format, no matter how good, open or advanced will succeed.
I'm sorry but while I share your opinion that graphics is just eyecandy and gets old after 5min, the characters, the style, the music and the story DO matter to me and most gamers out there.
Gameplay is very important, but many games with sucky gameplay, weird cameras or sucky controls still get by just by having a compeling story or amazing characters.
Games are a visual media, not just the interactiveness.
Doesn't toshiba have a prototype of a Blu-ray with 6 layers and 200GB storage already?
How many layers does it take to be considered 3D or holographic?
There's always a good story to tell somewhere. If FF were a sequel series, with the same characters in the same world, time and time again, people would just get bored by the 5 iteration.
The pool with ideias for stories and characters will never dry.
FFXII is being translated to english and shall be upon us in 2 or 3 months.
FFXIII is already takes as the frist FF for the PS3.
I guess they could make this new one the FFXIV or most likely to dump the extend number and call it FFXI: battle of summons or something.
Man I remember when I was 12 and played Resident Evil for the frist time, I couldn't play the game with the lights off.
I couldn't play Silent hill until I was 16, because of all those monsters, dark rituals and blood everywhere. The memory still scaries me.
Man, I sound like a wuss, but today there's nothing they can do in a game the would remotely scary or provoke a moral aversion. All I care about is fun and the challenge(Even if I have to blow up the heads of scaried orphans by apparently no reason at all).
Holy crap, They were labeled "Moonwalk" so I thought they were the michael jackson video or something and I taped the world cup games over them.
My bad guys. Can't you set up the studio in the desert and tape them again?
Well, everytime I login to get my emails, I exchange a few words with whomever is online. That google talk inside the gmail is great.
Plus using google desktop or even gmail in trillian, i can get my email delivered straight to my desktop(without the pop/smtp/imap hassle).
Up to date Graphics aren't going to make a game last forever.
People will get bored of the storyline and same characters over and over.
Your sollution could allow developers to invest more in story and design, releasing a software platform, and then gradually developing episodic content for it(like they did with never winter nights).
I can see this doing wonders(ok, maybe a stretch) for the next generation RPGs(specially NWN2).

Agreed.
Wikipedia is just as much susceptible to errors as humans are.
Once people encounter articles bering wrong information, instead of correcting them, they report it to papers and try to demote wikipedia merits. That doesn't proof Wikipedia failures, but humanity ones.
They have good mechanisms to prevent vandalism like: Posting a link in the discution tab to confirm your statements, or locking the edition by non wikipedians, if only people use them.
360 and the Ps3 are both media centers and game platforms.
As I see, they may release future 360 version with better media center features,
but the 360 platform for games won't change.
Well the ps3 hardware is worth 600, probably much more, but most gamers are unwilling to pay 600 for a gaming console.
Real games and Real fun are up to developers. Sure Microsoft support for devs is better, so this could mean better games, but it isn't a contingency. Let's see how supportive Sony will be to the homebrew comunity and developers in general to decide if the ps3 is worth the extra development costs and if games are good enough for consumers.
My guess as well.
I wonder if MS made a big mistake not making the HDD standard.
For all you/.ers game developers, What kind of possibilities does a swap(virtual paginated memory) have in gaming?
I can only think of persistence in larger worlds support.
Nah, Kojima-san would just give us a couple E.M.P. grenades, and we'd get past that smart minefield faster then you can say "Revolver Ocelot".
Seriously, a simple radio jamming device should do the trick.
I fail to see how ubuntu is revolutionary in the desktop linux area.
I mean, there are several good distributions, remarkably the latest SuSe, but also Mandriva and Fedora, that are well suited for desktop users.
I mean I've installed mandriva in several new machines in my job and 90% of users, the ones that click in the blue E to "use the internet", the yellow flash to listen to music, the 2 green dummies to access MSN and the paper with an "W" to use the word processor can't tell the difference.(My mon included)
Of cource, as long as those icons are familiar, in usual places and there's solitaire under Programs > Games.
Looks like bin laden is winning afterall...

I held the Inquirer as the most highly trustworth source, but after that comment, my world has fallen apart...
What about a cell-based GPU? Cell is one order of magnitude higher in float point proccesing, so wouldn't this fix the bottleneck?
And We thought WoW was killing the gaming industry. It's killing the whole society.
How long until WoW becomes The Matrix?

And by toshiba I mean TDK.

Amsterdam is too far away. How about in-game virtual Gameholic Anonymous meetings? Maybe in Wow, look me up there, I'm always on.

It's like a book or a movie, If your're excited by the story you'll want to see the ending.

I don't know what's so alarming, Futurama is coming back so we're all saved already. Let Matt Groeing team find solutions to our problems.
