Oh yes, this and other websites remind me of why I do not go on the WWW on April Fool's Day. Year after year, fake news stories never get old, especially the news stories the following day declaring everything was a hoax... This story may or not be fake, I just had to post this somewhere...
...the largest problem the XBox 360 has is that it's doing a terrible job of convincing people "the next generation is here" in the first place.
In terms of what? The next gen of video games is clearly about being able to download games, and that is what they are doing with Live. Graphics? Bah, who cares. If you look at the trends for all the future consoles, it is online connectivty and the ability to download games. I think you are right though, they could do a lot more to show off Live, that's where they will win it if they do. This is the main reason I think Nintendo will take back a large share of what it lost to the Sony and MS. People will know for sure that they can play all their favorite NES and SNES games on up on the Revolution.
Assuming the PS3 is out by then, we will have to see. I do not think Balmer was correct about the first to 10 million consoles sold, but obviously the console with the most consoles out will get the majority of games out there. Note that majority does not mean best.
I don't think Ballmer is exactly right, nor whoever wrote the article either. If Microsoft starts really hammering it in that the "next generation" is here, people will get sick of waiting for the PS3 and get a 360. It's common sense. If you are putzing along on a PS2 and get sick of waiting for the PS3, you'll get the itch and pick one up. Sad but true.
We were disappointingly unable to test any software with the development controller.
How exactly is this a hands on? If you just look at something, its a hands-on? If I sit in a car and get out of it without turning on the engine, did I take it for a test drive? Way to increase traffic IGN!
The DS should be able to emulate most if not all NES and SNES titles
Yeah, that's what I had meant about classic games. I should have clarified. Super Mario World was ported to the GBA(Super Mario Advance 2), so I think playing all of the SNES/NES collection would not be a problem. (Portable Chrono Trigger anyone?)
I wonder how long it will take for Nintendo to announce the ability to play the classic games downloaded by the Revo to also be able to be played on the DS.... that would be a great announcement. I would cry for joy...
What is the use of a blog if bloggers are just going to copy sentences and sentiments from the puppetmaster's email?
What news media isn't like that? If a PR is giving you the news, it's going to be biased. It is a PR's job to be biased and get the image they want out. If the PR gives a completed story to a journalist/blogger/local idiot, the journo/whatever will report what the PR said as fact, not as biased garbage. Surprised? You shouldn't be...
It's called trade-offs. Like how the PSP traded having games for having really nice hardware that can do lots of stuff, but apparently not games. Sorry, but it's true.
Pardon the flame-bait, but why is this on the frontpage? This is a name-less game; if it was a Halo or a GTA I could understand, so why exactly is this on the frontpage? Once more, why is this on the frontpage? Because Zonk wrote it? Once again, why oh why?
They gave away 100 free songs for downloading WinAmp once, I signed up and checked out the music. They have lots of "other" type stuff, but they did have the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack(which was nice during the holidays.) Anyways, unsubscribing was hassle-free, I clicked unsubscribe in the Account, and it was done. Very nice.
Nice theory, but let's say instead of making Firefly, they decided to make the next Paully Shore movie, or a Waterworld that will permanently reside in the red. You speculate on the past as if you know the future. What happened with Austin Powers(which didn't do so hot in the theatres either) could very well happen to Firefly.
I hate the piracy excuse. Granted, many people do pirate games. But the question is how many of these people that pirate actually would have bought the game in the first place? I think many people who are pirating just pirate because they can. What I am trying to say if there was no other to get the game besides buying it, they wouldn't buy it. I am not defending pirating, I am just stating that it's not technically a lost sale, because pirating is not taking away a sale, the sale never was.
I don't think many people realized what the Segway was supposed to do. It was meant for longer distances in populated areas. So instead of being stuck in traffic, you could get places at a slow and steady pace quicker than you could via car. I really believe when most people saw the Segway, they thought it was invented by a man too lazy to walk. The fact that they didn't try and counter this thought was why it failed or is failing. I agree that he has mad skillz, but he needs better insight on how to explain his inventions better.
Unless you use Google and Yahoo for their own content, you are getting links to 99.99% of the web, which is full of enormously bloated crap...and since you listed Slashdot, I am assuming you do not RTFA, as most sites linked to are full o' bandwidth intensive crap.
I hear you can get the same results bagging in a grocery store, plus be able to buy things after said work is done.
It seems like all video game studies are meant for realistic parents who would rather have their children outside playing in the sun, as opposed to having their kids locked in a dimly-lit basement playing video games. "Games are good for your kids!" Not in comparison to what they could be doing...

No one's watching movies on PSP. It's a game player, period.'
I wonder how long it will take people to start saying that about the PS3...
Well you don't exactly want to do business with the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons do you?

But what about 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011?

Come on, no Leisure Suit Larry? Game porn at its finest...

I like the sound of flipping pages, and being able to make a little cartoon in the corner of the book one page at a time is fun too.
"To be clear, Writely is still in beta..
So it will go great with the rest of Google's Betas?

The main issue is the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, ie automobiles. Unless those nuclear reactors start powering the cars, it's pointless.

I think you just recited etree.org's mission statement...

It's probably the swiss knife of gadgets, and runs on soylent green.

How about civic lessons for those countries wreaking havoc in other countries?
Only 2 years to go....
