it seems obvious that his real problem is search engines providing access to free pr0n rather than people paying for his content
protecting the kids is a convenient story to use
Wow.
Overpriveledged british kid gets a laptop toy and enjoys it.
Why dont they give interesting information about how useful it is for kids in africa that have never used technology that can't read?
Dvorak is awesome and his points are valid.
What good is technology with no infrastructure?
I got my first laptop when I was 18, why does every child even need one?
Some of these slashdot users must be pretty deluded to think that a fisher price laptop is going to solve all the world's problems.
Why all the DX2 hating? I remember picking up the xbox version for cheap a while after it was new and it still seemed pretty fun. I thought it was fairly comparable to the first game and didnt seem as dumbed down for consoles as Bioshock was compared to System shock 2.
Next Gen was really good, I was sad that I started getting into it right before it went away. 1990s PC Gamer was another game magazine high point; I still subscribe but the new ones have very little in common with the old classic issues.
Sadly I do like to read GI occasionally for the nerdy side bits but not the adverarticles.
While I don't know much about the new god of war, the new Battlefront game was optimized for PSP and has more simplified "portable" style controls and gameplay
seriously though GI can be an enjoyable read once you get past all the obvious gamestop hype machine marketing they cram in there; but is there anyone who actually subscribes to this mag as opposed to getting it included with a gamestop discount card?
as soon as I saw the line "Although vinyl purists are ripe for parody" all I could envision was the donut mr show sketch, then I see the wired article links directly to that
further cements the fact that any mr show parody of something becomes THE definitive parody
I'm pretty sure most would agree that the dual shock was the gold standard for controllers, with the xbox 360 controller possibly being the first one to improve on it. I'm not including glorified pointing devices in this comparison
I'm glad this is at least a known issue with 360s now. It doesnt seem to be an issue with some games that you only play for a few hours but the games that I have played for very long periods of time on my 360 both have gotten big cracks coming from the center of the disc. One of my friends has had to purchase several copies of Oblivion for this reason.
Less than 6 months after I finally "make the switch" to a Mac I have encountered a destroyed hard drive on a nearly new Mac Book Pro as well as a destroyed ipod.
looks like I waited a little too long to switch since apple now only cares about disposable hardware
fuckin thing SUCKS
maybe this study would be more accurate if they chose a game that fps players actually ENJOY playing
PHILIP K DICK WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG now we just have to wait for the pentagon to admit that we are living in the roman empire and that it's 79 AD

can we move all the wiimote stories to their own site
Is this a joke? What company in their right mind would use gmail for sensitive company information and internal emails?

why are gentoo users always so annoying?

I remember reading about this in either wired or IEEE spectrum at least a year ago

every nerd thinks they have Asperger's most of them are just normal losers
haven't any of you heard of a little something called THE PRIME DIRECTIVE?

This is the most overwrought load of crap I have ever read.

Linux is definitely the most hassle free operating system out there...
are you sure you're supposed to be reading slashdot?

i doubt that the processor in the Wii would be able to make any useful contribution compared to ps3
