Yeah? and what if that ip address just so happens to originate from some rural area in mainland china? What death squad attacks those conniving rice farmers who play xbox live?
but of course not buying the game is the obvious solution. if game companies realize this is a strong negative effect and only a few buy the game, why would they want to stick that "feature" into the next game? Sometimes if you wrap the towel around your face and pretend it isn't there, the problem will just go away...
I think some people will always mod down anything that seems to be anti-Linux... I use Linux as nothing more than an operating system. I think those that evangelize it should continue doing so, but heck, it's still an operating system package guys. People use it for what it's worth.
but what about us debian users who might be less knowledgable to write a whole automatic hardware detection and just want to use the distro for what it's worth? I don't mind doing things manually if there are instructions on how to do it.
I use debian fairly often but wanted to use ALSA since I found out it was able to restore sound when my laptop resumed from suspend mode. The ALSA installation just seemed to complex and I just didn't have time from my job to sit there and read the docs on the ALSA site. It's really great there are informative howtos that tell you step by step what you need and how to accomplish it. You won't believe how many howtos I've read on that old UNC site! (I think it's linuxdoc.org now?)
You could always profit the way rusty did on Kuro5hin. Ask people to donate money. Rusty raised more than $40,000 in less than a week, I'm sure Malda could do better... That's enough to supply one person's paycheck for a year at least!
I work for this big hotel company... and all their reservation systems run on UUNet, so when it went down earlier, nobody could make hotel reservations!! (6C owns several large hotel chains like Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Intercontinental, and Staybridge Suites)
Yeah, the huge one at Northwest Plaza is still open I think... the one that takes up the whole basement of that mall.... I don't think there are fewer violent games there either. Arcades are in it for the money.... and kids that age like violent games so I don't think they'll be putting family-oriented arcade games there anytime soon since it's still largely a teen-hangout place.
I live in St. Louis too, but I dont' think the arcades are closing because of the law... arcades are closing because they're getting really sucky business!! It's like nobody plays arcades that much anymore.... there are still a few large large arcade plazas still open, but the small ones (like the one that used to be in Chesterfield Mall, Aladdin's Castle) are just disappearing.
But 100 browsers isn't necessarily good for the opensource community either. Just look at how many linux distros we have already! Sure, you can create your own linux distro too, but why do we want so many? It creates confusion for the end-users and nobody will really know what improvements each individual browsers bring.
I know Windows 98 will run for several hours without crashing. So if you just posted the message with Win98, you'd think Win98 is "very stable" too, but I don't know too many that think Win98 is all that stable.....
But graphics professionals are much more willing to spend money than hardcore gamers. I don't think they are making great margins by marketing to gamers but they could potentially make much much greater margins by marketing to the professional graphics market that actually has money to throw away!!
there are 3000 something jobs for java on monster.com. I've tried applying to roughly 300 of these jobs, but none have even replied to my CV or even a brief email saying "hello, I got your CV, but we are looking for someone else with a different skill set". Do companies that put job postings on Monster.com even look at the resumes they receive from it? or do they receive so many resumes that they can't reply to every single one of them?

I won't comment on what exactly happened, but I think something does need to be done. Even though I do have a job as a Java software developer right now, it took me 4 months and applications to 130+ something companies. Only two of those 130 companies called me back just to say "Hello". Yeah, and one of those two is the company that I'm working at right now, but I think the software market is pretty sluggish right now and something needs to be done about it!!
With piezo electrics, you can put them in gloves so that you have to beat someone up to be able to use your phone. Soon we'll have extremely hostile mobile phone users....

Are you saying real men don't like pussy cats? I mean geeks I can understand.... ;-)
Wow... that's a really great idea! I might buy an xbox just to do that hack!

4 posts and now the page won't load already!!

yeah that should have been a direct relationship...

Yeah it did.... but did it have easy access to the internet? I think the only one with easy access to the internet back then was Al Gore...

I think the cheapest (and undoubtly best) security is to take your computer to the nearest bank and stick it in their safety deposit box!

man, 100% is based on 33 votes. You should check imdb for real ratings. I'm sure they have more than 33 votes!!
you know, a lot more died from the black plague long long long time ago.... are we mourning their deaths too?
True.

I dont' think this is a troll... I'm sure tons of pointy haired people out there will immediately think CGI == perl.
is munching louder or nibbling louder?
Then you should have said, "Then you have a stack of people who know how to lie to jobs they aren't qualified to get."
