Except for most Canadians know about Molybdenum-99 (well not that but the fact that Canada provides the required isotopes for most of the world). It isn't any big secret.
Don't be salaried. Salary is for suckers. I work, they pay me. They think twice about calling me in as it costs them more money. On salary, any hour you work over 37.5 devalues how much you are really worth. If you want the security of having salary make sure they compensate you for any overtime.
I do agree your post is not really trollish, however to answer it further, I would rather get radiation from the flight than radiation from the flight AND the backscatter. Remember radiation exposure is cumulative and I would rather avoid any I can if given an alternative. Plus there is nothing saying it could be the one time that actually causes cancer.
Works great until some pointy haired management type gets whored up at some conference (probably a MS sponsored one) about either outsourcing their IT dept (I mean having competent IT folks have to cost right?) or that if they replace said competent IT folks with a drone they could get a vendor who takes care of all of this and it would probably be cheaper. Remember two things: 1. No one is irreplacable 2. It's always about the bottom line.
Exactly, govt does it at the end of the year when they need to use up the rest of their budget to ensure they get the same amount next year. So they do it more frequently
Totally agree however the other thing is imaging can be a huge pain unless you do generic imaging. There was a 2nd tier company who basically did that, they made machines using typical whitebox hardware (asus, MSI, abit mobos for example). Somehow they won a bid for the govt org I work for. The issue they had was that keeping consistent internals inside the case. Just because you buy a couple hundred motherboards this month doesn't mean in 2 months you will still be able to procure. With this in mind the image you have now may need to be redone for newer hardware. Generic imaging helps with this but there is always those annoying compatibilities in hardware where one piece may be able to use different drivers. We had that with an AC97 sound card where if it picked up the wrong driver, sound would play twice as fast. We have had a lot less issues with images if using Dell, HP, IBM hardware than these 2nd tier types. Since we have volume licensing the first thing we do though is wipe the hard drives and build our own images just to get rid of all the crap thrown on and to use the appropriate license key. With Windows 7 rollout imminent it will move over to a licensing server rather than license keys.
I had a motherboard flake out which subsequently caused a hard drive failure this year. At that point I decided it was time to upgrade and figured I may as well try 7. To be honest, it's not bad. It isn't the crap that Vista was and is pretty stable. Course on older hardware when I tried the Beta it was a dog.
The thing that is stupid about it is that sure block exes from being run from a USB, then the user will copy it to the machine and run it there. BTW, GPOs from day one have had the ability to disable Autoplay and autorun.
Con: Stephen Merchant is lending his voice Lending? Can we get him to shut up? Watching the video he blathers on and on and on. And for some reason I don't find his voice very pleasant while I liked GladOs' voice.
Graphics look superb though and I will definitely be getting it.
I was expecting this to be more about how languages are infiltrating other languages (think Firefly and how they swear in Chinese). More like how the internet is making people more knowledgeable of tech terminology.
I've always thought that they will confiscate your car, boat, everything if you catch one fish than legally allowed, why don't they confiscate a repeat DUI offender's car?
My big annoyance with 7 is when deleting a folder with thumbs.db it always warns me and half of the time it can't delete the file due to it being locked. I like thumbnails otherwise I would disable them. Never had this with XP.
Zip.ca (the incumbent equivalent of Netflix in Canada) also announced they will be doing streaming as well. I am waiting to hear if anyone teams up with Rogers (or even better Rogers gets involved (although that might be considered anti-competitive)). Right now I have their Extreme package which is 12Mbps/95Gpermonth (new customers get 15Mbps/85Gpermonth). Once they get streaming working I may up to the next tier which is 22Mbps/125Gpm.
I was in the 5th floor of the ING building at St Laurent which IBM has and people were starting to panic. Most went to the windows (which was a huge no-no), while I walked over to my server room door way
I had the same experience (lived in LA as well at one point) but I gauged it at 4-5 compared to what I recalled in LA and I was a lot closer to the epicenter than yourself. I would suspect it is due to the difference of living on the Canadian Shield compared to reclaimed swampland.
In Ottawa, I gauged it to be about 4-5. News said it was 5 (although 5.5 and 5.7 were bandied about). Didn't seem that bad (I spent my teens in LA so I had some exposure to decent earthquakes.

When you have a good portion of your population never seeing a paved road in their life it is no wonder they can afford it.
When I submit my cv for a job do I really want my email address to say @facebook.com?
Didn't think so.
I'd say your staff is due for a down sizing if you have that much free time :)

if Bush had not limited the harvesting of embryonic stem cells if this would have been discovered. The whole lowest hanging fruit and all that...
You think that is bad try working for the Canadian Mental Health Association.

don't use work resources for personal use. QESBNED (Quite Easily Said But Not Easily Done)

You know I heard the same story ten years ago but it was that a server would spontaneously reboot. I have a feeling this may be an urban myth.

Yes and video games cause mass murder.
Same argument and still wrong
Let's think about this. The US has been in Germany and Japan since 45. You thought they would be leaving Afghanistan any sooner?
