  5. a Mars round trip will take about 60% of an astronaut's career limit and that below 16 feet of Martian soil radiation will be Earth level.

    We'd need to send a metric buttload of drones to prep the site first. Otherwise, the astronauts doing it when they got there would require some heavy digging tools in case they run into rock a few feet down, which would *dramatically* increase launch weight.

    If you're OK with limiting yourself to the Apple systems, maybe... but if you try, for example, to pair those Apple earbuds to an Android device, you have to go through the whole routine.

    Forget that, I'll take plug-n-play any day.

    That's what I was thinking. They can drive themselves right into a metal shipping container. Shut the doors, and that car isn't going to talk to anyone. Pop it onto a truck, and you're going to be able to ship it wherever you need it to go.

    The wealthy would stop buying them in a heartbeat after the first remote kidnapping.

  8. Right now, I'm running the old version of WinAmp (5.66) on the latest version of Windows 10 and it works just fine. It's small, simple, it works and it plays any audio file I want.

    I actually bought it back in the day, and it works just fine on Win10 for me as well, including visualizations.

    Alienware went soft when Dell bought them. The Asus RoGs are where it's at.

    But it's been proven that 0-days are patched much more quickly on open source packages than waiting for Patch Tuesday or whatever Microsoft calls it now. Most importantly, the closed source vendor may never release a patch to a dangerous flaw...a flaw that you may never have been made aware of!

Unfortunately, attempting to provision on a fresh Ubuntu 12.04 install with the following additional packages: build-essentials python-software-properties build-essential libacl1-dev python-dev libldap2-dev pkg-config gdb libgnutls-dev libblkid-dev libreadline-dev libattr1-dev openssl (please note these pre-requisite are not documented in the wiki) gives the following error: "libkdc-policy.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" and I cant get an answer as to where to find or build this module or find such info in a web search. All in all, it has been a very frustrating experience.

    According to their bug report on it, it was fixed in a beta release recently...https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+bug/887537
