VHS?
I'm just be worried when I can't be my favorite stuff on Beta anymore!.

I've been looking at this system
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZjlwsales
Its had one very good review (http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24 1206) and for awhile he was offering free profiling of an image- definately worth the cost...
BUT... if you want stuff to last, buy AgX prints. There's 100+ years of technology in that... -

Well... :|
I don't think Disney'll survive much longer, which is a shame. When Disney started stealing from anime and all that (Kimba.. no, Simba... I am your father) and then started to dabble in other divisions, trying to outdo the Japanese (that Jungle Book DDR-imitation comes to mind).. they pretty much doomed themselves to a slow death.
I mean, it's like copying someone else's work and releasing an inferior product! Just... like... some other company I know...
Miyazaki's their only hope to survive, but alas, there are even other ways for Miyazaki's work to make it to the states. -
Re:As long as we're doing reviews...
Yeah, well, I haven't seen that Revenge of the Sith either, but I doubt it's a trekkie movie!

Why no gapless playback except for Rio Karma?
The Rio Karma's gapless playback was awesome... but that device was a little hefty and its boxy shape made it unfriendly to the pocket, which is why I got rid of it. Unfortunately, that's the only MP3 player I know of that supports gapless. Still, there are a slew of nifty 1 GB flash players that can be had for $80 - $150. In addition to the iRiver:
iPod Shuffle (I picked up a used 1GB model for $80):
+ smallest and lightest of the bunch, iTunes integration, high build-quality, excellent sound, well-place controls, doubles as USB flash drive, recharges when plugged in
- no screen, non-replaceable battery, can't transfer music through mounted driveCreative Muvo N200:
+ FM, AAA battery offers flexibility, voice recorder, line-in
- a little larger than iPod Shuffle, must juggle batteriesCreative Muvo V200 (I got a 1GB model on Ebay for $87 shipped):
Same as N200 but slightly larger and heavier, has integrated USB connector, no line-iniPod Shuffle Knock-offs :
Not as easy to find, but like the shuffle but with more features (but sans iTunes integration). Mixed reviews as far as build quality goes.JXD No-name Player :
The JXD is just one of many feature-rich no-name players on Ebay. Build and sound quality unknown; YMMV.And there are several Rio, Samsung, and Sandisk models at Best Buy... and other more exciting ones at dynamism, like the tasty iRiver T10.
Then there's the iPod Mini, which has Apple's awesome clickwheel in a fairly small package. And the Rio Carbon, which is the most pocketable of the hdd players. Too bad neither of those have a built-in USB connector or FM.

Well, there are a bunch for sale on ebay. I bet it'd take awhile to sell 2 million of them though.

Re:Can't have it both ways...
You cannot tax an illegal activity
I don't know about Canada, but many states in the US have specific tax systems on illegal drugs. I will cite Kansas below, simply because it was the first Google hit.
Kansas Department of Revenue:
The fact that dealing marijuana and controlled substances is illegal does not exempt it from taxation. Therefore drug dealers are required by law to purchase drug tax stamps.
The drug tax is due as soon as the dealer takes possession of the marijuana or controlled substance. Payment of the drug tax will purchase the drug tax stamps. Attach the stamp to the marijuana and/or controlled substance immediately after receiving the substance. The stamps are valid for 3 months. Drugs seized without stamps or having expired stamps may result in criminal or civil penalties which may include fines, seizure of property or liens against real estate.
A dealer is not required to give his/her name or address when purchasing stamps and the Department is prohibited from sharing any information relating to the purchase of drug tax stamps with law enforcement or anyone else.
Purchasing drug tax stamps does not make possession of drugs legal.
Kansas drug tax FAQ
Kansas drug tax rates:
Marijuana:
* Processed $3.50 per gram
* Wet Plant $0.40 per gram
* Dry Plant $0.90 per gram
Controlled substances:
* $200 per gram or portion of gram
Controlled substances:
* $2000 per 50 dose unit or portion of unit
There's even a eBay store dedicated to marihuana tax stamps from across the country.

Umm
are there any sites using jsp anywhere near the number of pages/day of Yahoo?
The largest jsp site I've heard of is ebay, ~1/3 the size of yahoo, and still using IIS for many of their hi-load parts (https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&r u=http://www.ebay.com/).
BTW, why is it taking ebay so long to switch over to jsp?
Yahoo switched to PHP from their in-house scripting language.
And evaluated & rejected J2EE and jsp in the process. I'll let you google that for yourself:-).

Re:Buy a Canadian Diamond! The story of how the Ekati Mine came to be is fascinating. Look for a book called Barren Lands by Kevin Krajick-- it costs only three or four bucks used.
I agree that DeBeers has minimal involvement with the Ekati Mine. The book tells about how DeBeers was in a race with Chuck Fipke to find the kimberlite pipes in Canada, and lost.

This is a ripoff! Sell on eBay instead.
The story makes it seem like this is a great deal but in fact it is a terrible ripoff. Search for "broken ipod". For example "ipod 15 gig 3g 3rd gen broken" with what appears to be a broken hard drive is at $82.01 after 8 bids and with 5 and a half hours left.

Maybe, 5 years ago. Now, we have ebay - Ico for $10. Only a few extremely rare games like Radiant Silvergun are more expensive than when they launched.
Plus, PS2 is cracked - get a mod chip and download the ISO if you genuinely can't find someone who'll take your money for a game. Only barely unethical :) -

It's hard to paint a keyboard and actually have the paint stick when you type hard 6-8 hours a day for months. If you just prime it and paint it will be off in a few weeks. I have spent almost 2 years painting plastics looking for a way to make the paint durable enough for a keyboard. -

Re:Make them include postage!
Here is how you set the option. Click on Advanced Search, then on Customize search options, then click the Customize Display tab. Move the "Shipping cost" option into the Colums to Display window and click Save.
If you want to get all geeked out, you could write a cool search utility using the eBay APIs (http://developer.ebay.com/) that included the shipping cost in the total cost for each search result. -

I used to have one of these- great keyboard, Pocket Word, Internet connectivity with built-in modem. -
I had the same problem
I went with a sony Palm os clie, sj22.
http://sonyelectronics.sonystyle.com/micros/clie/m odels/sj22.html
It is monocrome, so the battery lasts a long time.
I thought I needed a keyboard, but the onscreen kb worked fine for the typical 15-30 minute writing sessions. I was surprised at how useful it is. It syncs with palm desk on the PC via IR or usb.
The Philips Velo are also good. They run win CE and have a built-in kb. Also a modem!

This why I'm eBaying my XBox games right now
As I said before, Microsoft's "limited backward compatabilty" stance has singled handedly devalued all of the games you currently own and has stifled the current games market with fears of incompatbilty. Good work.
I'm done with Bill's shinanigans. eBaying right now...

Posting on eBayTry posting a custom layout on eBay with a few whistles and buzzers -- your layout will suck.
I did a page layout on eBay for an older retired friend who makes wooden toys. I used the normal
.css file and div tags -- it looked like crap and was unusable. I had to go back to the drawing board and use tables! (Tables, nested in tables to get the same layout)Most of the internet might be ready for bleeding edge stuff, but don't toss away your plain 'ole vanilla flavored HTML just yet.

Re:Best gameboy
I think the DS most resembles my first Nintendo gaming experience. Good old Green House. Flip-open, dual screens...I remember begging my grandfather to get one for me and it was one of those specialty type stores (like Sharper Image) and it cost something like $100 bucks. I know it was expensive.
I actually found a picture of one on ebay.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem &category=4315&item=8192367349&rd=1&ssPageName=WDV W -
Re:It is MY computerDRM is always able to be circumvented. It's just a matter of how long it'll take, and how convenient the methods are. Not to mention that some quality degradation may occur, which wouldn't neccesarilly be the case with a straight digital-to-digital copy.
For instance, without knowing for sure (I haven't downloaded any of the BBC's content to try this), I'm guessing that converting to and from analog will remove the DRM. If this method doesn't work, it should give you some ideas about different things to try (it's removed DRM for me in the past):
You'll need 2 PC's, 1 with S-video out, and one with S-Video in.- Run the output of the "video out" PC through a cheap TBC unit, and back into the input of your 2nd PC
- Hit play on one end, and record on the other, and Bob's your Uncle!
Now this isn't the best setup if you're looking for perfect digital copies, but for 99% of the population, this'll meet the needs. Again, the point of all this is that DRM can always be circumvented. It's just a matter of how badly you want to do it, and what you're willing to go through for it.
If you're waiting for "does it all" software program to come along and let you un-DRM any DRM'd video, you'll probably be waiting for quite some time. If however, you're just looking to archive a copy for personal use, there's usually workarounds for these things.
For the record, you can optionally replace the "Play" PC above with any DVD player, and automatically archive un-Macrovisioned copies of your DVD's also! I think that the various software programs available do a quicker, and more efficient job of this, but the setup I've outlined above will work fine also, and you can make your copy while you're watching the video, if that's your thing.
