Strong Bad disagrees
I think Strong Bad and company over at www.homestarrunner.com would disagree with you. Yeah, flash gets abused horribly but in the hands of creative people some great stuff can be done with it.

Flash Already offline capable -- MORE
Oh I forgot to mention, once you have the
.swf file on your computer, you have more control over it. You can resize it, use the playback commands, change the quality, and whatever else flash normally allows of you. It's a lot better then the reduced command set you have on some sites. Full screen trogdor is even better =). -
Two words...

Re:ALERT! GEEK HUMOR! MASSIVE UNFUNNY DIRECT AHEAD
Yeah I know... I can't stand what those fhqwhgads pass as humour.
:-P

I hear...
I hear that Trogdor was a close second. Personally, I think he would have been a much greater asset to Apple what with the success of his recent video game and his abilitiy to burninate the competition. He probably would have also allowed Apple to add his trademark "majesty" around their apple logo... and that would've just looked cool.

Why people are opposed to Flash
why are people so opposed to Flash on the net?
Put simply, it's because Flash makes Web sites harder to use. For most sites, it's superfluous, over-complicated and annoying. Furthermore, because Flash breaks a lot of Web conventions (Back, font sizes, accessibility), it's unintuitive.
While I still agree that advertising is the worst thing about Flash - just ahead of the Macromedia site so longer working in Opera - I generally hate sites that use Flash at all, because things just take so much longer. Of course, there are a few shining examples.

Re:ServersErr... ok I misread the parent post. I read it from the perspective of someone hosting a server on the fiber network. You can do that (with their business acct), and take advantage of 100 Mbps from your server pretty easily. But you'll probably end up paying a ton of overage at the end of the month if your site turns out to be the next Onion, Homestar Runner, or Slashdot.

I know what we should call this...
I think we should call the first 747 with a mounted laser off the line "TROGDOR THE BURNINATOR!"
-
Any relation?"...with a technology it calls 'Strong Binding'. "
Is this in any way related to Strong Bad?
"Everybody To The Limit!!" -
my "bored" folder
I put all my dailies in a folder called "Bored"
Here's some I haven't seen mentioned:
Ben's Bargains - because it's good to drool.
Homestar Runner - the only excuse for Flash on the web -
Don't you mean

You are both right!
Homestar says the same thing is this deleted scene from Yellow-Dello.

Re:Who cares...
At least you could do is add the link for the fools that don't know what you are talking about. Strong Bad Email.
-
Yay! Link lights everywhere...So now any light in my house can potentially flash on and off in accordance with my network traffic?
I could have a DISCO!

They didn't include my question
Have you emailed Strong Bad yet?

The system is down, yo!

Re:Homsar is the best character.
"MuwahAHahAHahAH... Hey, Tubs! I just lost my Jenga Jam!"
... "Don't you talk to me."
That is the best part of "Where's the Cheat?" It's even funnier that Homsar was created out of one of the early Strong Bad e-mails. Someone misspelled Homestar, and (as always), Strong Bad gave them some crap.
Homsar
Where's the Cheat?
Would you put that fweakin' sandwich down?! -

Slashdot has caused this:

Best SB Email
I nominate the Anime Email as the best SB email.
If you disagree you are a big fat idiot. -

This Explains the Latest StrongBad Email
Perhaps this explains the lastest "Japanimation" of our beloved hero, StrongBad. Kidding aside, aside from steering about the Moon, are there other pratical applications? I saw how chaos could be applied to the field of epidemiology ... does anyone know if the CDC or private/university interests are applying chaos to these fields? -
Re:It may not be there...
What's really sad is that the reason we celebrate Christmas is lost even on many churchgoers. When I went to church with my family this Christmas Eve, half the congregation left right after communion, before the service was over. Rightfully so, I'm sure many of them will tell you, since it's the 'busiest time of the year'. A message of the true purpose of Christmas must permeate the churches and their attendees before our society as a whole might actually understand that Christmas was originally intended to be something more than time for gifts and beer.
I sometimes wonder why our society hasn't adopted December 25 as a non-religiously affiliated holiday intended for gift-giving. I fear that it will probably happen. Perhaps they'll call it Decemberween. -
Re:I'd have read it but...
I know this is horribly off-topic, but I just wanted to say that it's possibly to have both Homestar Runner and no flash ads. Just delete the flash plug-in from Mozilla (if you even bothered to install it), then use IE to load those few good web sites (ie, Homestar Runner and... uhhh...) that use Flash. Or, if you don't want to use IE, simply keep a backup copy of Mozilla around that has Flash enabled (install it in your home directory).

I'm all for the disabling of flash, but I don't think I can live without my homestar runner!

Homestar Runner
I nominate Homestar Runner as new slashdot editor-in-chief. Admit it, he'd do at least as good of a job. And I don't care if he's animated and not real!

Re:SVG vs. Flash
Flash has Radiskull and Homestar Runner firmly in its camp. SVG doesn't.
Oh, and the SWF format is an open standard. -
Wait a minute... I saw this on H*R!
"So, Bubs... how's it coming?"
"Oh, hey Strong Bad. I think I'm almost finished. It took me a little while to figure out what I was gonna do. Then I duct taped an alarm clock to your VCR!"
"Duct taped an alarm clock to the VCR. See, I never woulda thought of that. Ok, there's some hairs that are seemed to be stuck in the duct tape here. Was that on purpose?"
"Oh. No. That's just left over from my first idea, which was to duct tape The Cheat to your VCR. He wasn't into that."
"Oh, I coulda told you that, man. Well anyways, thanks for your help, Bubs... and thank you, Cory Dewey-Smith. Sooo... join us next week when we'll be duct taping clocks to all kinds of different stuff."

Homsar!
What? And miss out on Homestar Runner, and, more importantly, Strong Bad e-mails? You're nuts.
Personally, the last time I tried to install Mozilla, I had a harder time getting Flash ON it.
No, I have nothing useful to contribute to this discussion. Carry on. -
