Re:I said it once and I'll say it again
It's still fugly, I don't see how your photo proves otherwise. Just because hollywood douchebags are all over it doesn't mean it's not ugly. It's only when one adds some sexy models to spice things up that looking at the Prius becomes bearable, like so. Much better.

Re:Irony!
Something which is weird is that I know it was recently banned here in Sweden in laundrary detergents, but then I read a test of cleaning power in multiple ones and the store "Willys" own brand was supposed to be the best one, so I bought a box.
The packaging says "new formula" and I noticed the ingredient list said "fosfor." I wonder if the ingredient list is wrong or if they actually made a kind of illegal detergent or whatever have happened. I did so back then aswell but I didn't knew how much of a deal it was so I haven't bothered to call them and ask yet. Will do.

Re:What astonishes me...
Yeah, I ended up trying to quit safari and then force quitting it, then I tried to install pithelmet but it said that the installation failed because it couldn't extract pithelmetPreflight or something like that.
I figured maybe it was because I had force quit Safari and would try after upgrading to 10.5.4 when the machine had rebooted in case there was some lock file or similair messing up.
But first I tried to stop openfire and for some stupid reason I pressed open administration console as well, which opened safari and well, fuck! That's NOT the window I want to have open the next time I start safari.
So I asked safari to reload all my old windows and it did. The problem was only that I knew I hadn't logged in yet so I'll end up at the front page and I didn't wanted to have a bunch of front pages for the next time, so I hurried to kill Safari again in case it would keep the URLs in the address bar.
Rebooted, tried to install Pithelmet again, no success.
Started safari and let it open all old windows, got a huge amount of empy tabs, obviously it didn't saved the URLs and since the page hadn't loaded in yet last time I ran Safari I was left without them
.. Closed almost all of them but two tabs or something had loaded but those didn't worked and ended up on the front page of the website I was visiting since I hadn't been logged in last time. So that failed.Closed Safari normally, started Opera and fetched Pithelmet again, tried to install it again since Safari was closed normally this time, no luck.
Checked for Safari updates, there was an x.2, downloaded that one and tried to install it but it says it can't install because I need OS X 10.5.2 or above, I have 10.5.4, so what the fuck is up with that?
Pithelmet installation error:
http://img92.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bild201cs9.pngSafari upgrade error:
http://img92.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bild203zr8.pngI noticed know when I cut that image that it says 311, not 312, why is that when Apples webpage says 3.1.2 is out?
http://www.apple.com/se/safari/download/That one is only for Windows or what? In that case ther error message is wrong and it should say that I already have the latest version.
Safari still suck, I hate to be bothered with this kind of bullshit.
If I had force quit Opera while loading all my tabs would work, and it have it's own ad blocker, and it don't leak insane amounts of RAM.
I think it's safe to force quit firefox while loading to, and I will start to use that instead of Opera but my Opera have like 60-70 tabs and my firefox got like 430 so I prefered Opera since it would start faster.
I don't remember if I have Saft installed or not.
Quit doesn't always work with the browsers, or it just takes ages, most often I end up using force quit.. Maybe because it's a MBP and slow harddrive.
Yeah, I know I should had logged in in one of those tabs first and then opened all the rest, I just forgot in the rush when I noticed Safari started running again without my intention. Stupid app which didn't told me it would start my browser or something, I hate them to!
Pointing domains in the hosts file to localhost won't take away specific banner images or flash animations but instead block whole servers, I don't want that. It's retarded.
Adblock plus + flashblock own, pithelmet are very good if it works but it kind of never does, Operas adblock is a little annoying since you have to add lots of rules yourself but it works of course. I'd prefer if flash applications didn't ran automatically though, so firefox is still king.

Re:What astonishes me...
Well, Apple still got things to learn.
I use to complain about how much RAM Safari leaks, how it always fucks up in the end and how it doesn't help if I close all my tabs because the browser will still use a bunch of ram.
Here is a screenshot of my Safari 3.1.1 in OS X:
http://img224.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bild198rz4.pngSure, I admit I have multiple windows open, 6-7 maybe? And quite a few tabs in them, maybe 50? And this time it has even been running for multiple days! (Thought I have been at my moms place without Internet for 2-3 days so that's probably why it haven't crashed already, I mean, those day put no additional load on it.)
And yes, Adobes flash bullshit may be one of the reason it crashes, but I don't care, Apple don't give me an option to not have that bullshit and all webpages have a ridiculous amount of flash bullshit banners on them.
And what annoys me the most is that WHEN Safari crashes (which are within a day more often, ranging from an hour to 2 days.) all my tabs are lost for all eternity with all the information I was waiting to look at.
So how does Firefox 3 do? Well, I admit my current Firefox 3 feels a little sluggish, and it takes a while for it to react as it should.. But look what happened when I accidently started to close it down a couple of days ago:
http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bild194nq1.png
Well, beat that
... Firefox 3 is apologized for somewhat sluggish performance.Pithelmet for Safari are decent but you are supposed to pay for it and it's more often not updated for the latest version of Safari. Adblock plus and flashblock are free. Though I'd prefer to remove flash at all if only youtube and dsfanboy / gametrailers let me watch videos as VIDEOS.

Two
First off, the "idle" section. I can appreciate that you want to have it, but why the hell hasn't anyone bothered to add it to "preferences" yet?
Second, the in-line reply box. Great feature. Almost everything about it works. EXCEPT that the size of the textbox is... bad. Below is a screenshot... the text box seems to be fixed width and so gets worse when replying to child and grandchild posts.
http://img182.imageshack.us/my.php?image=90344635nz9.jpg
Oh, and it also might be nice if logged in users with the highest karma level didn't have to "preview" for the in-line reply.

ATM Windows Error
I stumbled across this ATM error while in Sydney. The user was waiting there for 15mins and did not know what to do as her card and money had not been returned.
http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=20080704177mv6.jpg -
Just this night
I was in a Macys (long story) and ran across a price scanner. These are little gadgets with the SKU reader to tell you the price of an item, but they also had a card-reader tacked on to tell you the remaining balance.
I walked past one and saw this: http://img55.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0710082036ib1.jpg
Yes, a Windows XP desktop. The taskbar was barely visible, but off to the bottom. Internet Explorer, Recycle Bin, and My Computer were there.
This got me thinking. Why would people use such a complicated system with so many parts and so much bloat... to look up a SKU?
The best answer I can come up with is that store maintainers want to keep this data in one format. I can imagine that the server has a SQL table of the names/SKUs/prices/sales/etc, and the registers can run querys against it. It would be easiest to make your devices query the same database - no glue necessary.
Still, wouldn't some form of Linux be more suitable? The kernel can be stripped down to remove everything not necessary (all mouse and keyboard input, sound, all other network adapters and graphics cards), while still allowing the same functionality.
So I understand why they did it. I still cringe when I think the power that thing must have... just for its simplistic function.

The worst i've seen
In Phoenix we have a power company called APS. In some of the gas stations there are kiosks that allow you to pay your bill using Cash. I was walking through a circle K the other day, and to my horror i saw this:
Sorry about the shitty image quality...I took it using my crackberry.
Yes, that is a dialog box politely informing you that you have been Trojaned.

Obusha- a Democrat "Leader"
OBUSHA: Capitulation you can depend on!
Obusha lost my vote yesterday. I'm not voting against him, but I'll never vote for him. Ever, for anything.
And the money I was going to donate to his campaign, I'm now giving to the ACLU. Somebody has to look out for our freedom, and it certainly won't be a President Obusha anymore than it was for his mentor George Dubai Bush.
-
I'm glad!
Good, I'm happy Obama is losing people over FISA.
He lost my vote yesterday, and the money I was going to donate to him is now going to the ACLU, who it seems will have to work as hard to protect us against Obusha as they did against George Dubai Bush.

There was an interesting loop in the waiting room though, displaying what I can only assume were search queries.
One query in particular confirmed this.

http://img366.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tempax7.gif
I've actually had FIOS (20/5/$50) for about a year now at these usage rates, but my router died and I had to get a new one in June. I've had absolutely zero complaints, which is not shocking since the glass they strung up is far from capacity. If I'm costing them more than my user fees, I would be glad to pay extra to cover my usage (seriously).
For those of you that complain that you just can't use that much bandwidth, I suggest you try a little harder. Be creative: host your own flash videos, use sshfs to mount your music directory from wherever, set up SVN repositories for everyone you know, . . .

Re:Opera screen real estate vs Firefox
Of course, the same can be done in Opera. One could even have the tabs on the same row as the menu/address bar for ultimate real estate economy!
Browser flamewars are more awesome than the awesome bar.

Re:awesome bar = f u bar
Am I the only one who thinks of this picture every time I hear "Awesome Bar"?
Personally, I think of this picture [NSFW], mainly because the users got shafted too.

Re:Easy.
And unless something has significantly changed, Firefox can't put TabBars on the left or Right. Which is a much more relevant issue than that small bit of blank space on the Menu bar. All monitors have more Width space than Height. The IE/Firefox restriction of Tabs only on the top or bottom is a serious annoyance.

Re:But did they fix the real bug?Did they fix the bug where Safari installs as an iTunes update? I'd say that that is a fairly severe bug right there. More importantly, did they fix the ipod software itself? Every update cripples me even further without fixing what the previous broke (80GB gen 5).
- IPOD plays all songs
- IPOD needs to be restarted after adding songs
- IPOD cannot have more than ~30,000 songs in a genre
- IPOD cannot have more than 30,000 songs in TOTAL (otherwise no songs display)
Believe me, the support is sub-par to say the least. The online help is very confusing: screenshot 1 screenshot 2 (notice the 1st pic with the red circles) and hardly addresses the topic, and their solution is ALWAYS "bring it in to apple store" as a cure all.
I am not a fanboy of anything particular, and I couldn't care about bashing Apple, I've just been very unhappy with this product as of lately. -

Re:I can see how this could happen...
Normally I might be willing to accept something like that, but the Wikipedia entry makes mention of the fact that this sort of thing may have happened before with the company...on this very same game. Limbo of the Lost was built for Amiga in times past, and then was updated to the adventure game we have today. Even on the Amiga version though, there were allegations that they had stolen artwork from other games.
You can see an image with some comparisons here: http://img167.imageshack.us/my.php?image=limboofthespyguyls1.png -
