Wait, where does your Dvorak layout put the underscore (_)? It's quite accessible on my Dvorak keyboard—immediately left of Return—but perhaps not all Dvoraks are the same, just as not all QWERTYs are either?

I kid you not! This was common in Win98 and observed also in Win2k - if an app crashed, causing DrWatson to pop up and offer to save some kind of crash log, just click the save as button, and then cancel the save. Voila.

If you zoom in, you can see I'm definitely using subpixel rendering. I get the odd blurry looking font on my OS X system, but nowhere near the sort of stuff I see on other people's Windows laptops.

I zoomed in your screen shot, and regretfully you were not using subpixel rendering. The ClearType fonts (as in the Microsoft sample text) have coloured pixels in even black text, while the black text in your address line is complete black and white.

BBC's Sky broadcasts some movies in 1080p. They actually use H.264 within a transport stream, which looks pretty good.

Here is an example of one of their movies I have: Domino, an OAR broadcast, so its actual res is 1920x800 or so. It looks much better than DVD to me. I also have the DVD around here somewhere, but no caps from it to compare to.

I just looked at a screenshot of "Cleartype" on OS X (From http://www.microsoft.com/typography/ClearTypeFAQ.m spx). It looks revolting. I use Linux and OS X with subpixel rendering enabled. The first three lines look OK, but it starts to look blurry after that.

It is really a great study. Too bad those images are digital camera pics only as I had no scanner back then. You can at least get a taste of what kind of a study it is though.

Anyway the Turks deny the Armenian genocide for the same reasons they pass legislation to stop "insults to Turkishness". They view their state and nationalism as a metaphysic religious concept. If the Turkish state gives them slogans to deny the Armenian genocide, slogans to distort how their state treats Kurds, they will just repeat this slogans and its variations and get aggressive or nasty to anyone who gets in their way. They are not like other nations where you can talk to them as humans on such issues, all they do is send out slogans.

Maybe you should check out Winamp 5 for your time on Windows.. I usually miss Winamp when I have to use Amarok on Linux.. here's a screenshot of how you can configure it now (it's different than it was back in the 2.x days).

Well, dangit, I think it's time to come clean. Yes, I do work for Microsoft, posting here to disrupt communications from someone who hasn't done anything of note for the F/OSS community other than make it look like a bunch of lunatics and has no kind of leadership role within it.
