Who is this dude?
Ten minutes aho I didn't know how this man was, so I checked it and this is the result: it looks like he is a german film director somewhat specialized in games-based movies.
His latest seems to be Alone in the dark (scoring an incredibly low 2.2 out of 10)... it has to be real crap to score that low, it's very strange for a movie to be under the 5 in imdb!

A virtual cornucopia of crap
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/
Take a quick peak at the above and check out the upcoming releases for Uwe Boll. He has 6, yes 6, movies coming out in the next year or 2 (seven if you count the already released abomination "Alone in the Dark"). It doesn't take Steven Spielberg to figure out that if you direct 6 movies in 1.5 years, you're not exactly putting your heart into each project. Studios are simply just giving in every time they liscence a video game intellectual property and letting Boll churn out another putrid pile. The most surprising of these being Dungeon Siege and its relatively amazing cast. He has actual actors like Ray Liotta, and Leelee Sobieski, and I still doubt this movie with be watchable unless you are on at least a moderate amount of drugs. Movies such as these are supposed to cater to the tastes of our cultural niche and yet all they do is frustrate us by ruining that which we hold sacred.
Let us all just pray that Uwe Boll and the Halo movie project stay as far as from each other as humanly possible. -
Re:Poor mice.
So you think it's wrong to remove brain tissue of mice but you have no problem what so ever whith scientists cutting off or damaging their limbs and vital organs...
I don't mind animal testing at all, as long as it's for medical purposes.
Besides removal of brain tissue is so bad, ask Jack Nicholson -
Send an IMAX camera to the moon
I'm an IMAX freak. Have been ever since I watched the very first IMAX film at Ontario Place in 1971
Sendng and returning an IMAX camera to the moon is an idea that has stuck in my mind for a long time although I know it's impossible. At least you would know what you are looking at is the Real Thing and not a soundstage reproduction. Just the behaviour of the dust in the air is going to scream "fake!" to me. -

remakes
Infact i cannot think of a single good remake off the top of my head.
I can, the remake of "Mighty Joe Young". And though I didn't see the original "The Italian Job" I liked the remake. Those are just two off the top of my head. I'd also like to see "The Mechanic" in a remake, oh I see one's scheduled for 2007.

Re:Bitorrent User Group
75 million dollar indie style film that no one has heard of?
Maybe not always but frequently indies are budget productions yet they make a lot in the theatre. Like the "Blair Witch Project", it was made on a budget of $60,000 and the advertizing was $25M and it made more than $200M. Another movie is "Kissing Jessica Stein", it had a budget of $1,000,000 and grossed more than $10,000,000.
Quite simply it doesn't takes millions and millions of dollars to make a good movie, indies prove this.

Cordoba?
"...electrically powered tourist cars in Cordoba..."
WELL, my Cordoba is powered by good ol' gasoline. Chrysler four barrel 360 engines don't run on anything else. Besides, I know that mine's better. Chicks dig the Fine Corinthian Leather(tm).
I can't believe that Ricardo Montalban went from a Cordoba to a Reliant . -

Re:Just the Chinese?
It is like the old lawyer trick. My company made a product we knew would break and result in death (Say a car tire that we knew would explode and cause cars to turn over). Now your lawyers knows this, so they get a court to subpeona the papers showing we knew the product was bad. Instead of sending that one report, we send you that report mixed in 250,000 other reports. Hell, we might send you 249,999 reports and the 1 you wanted is missing. We send you so much stuff, that your whole legal staff is running at 110% and getting nowhere.
"If a new car built by my company leaves Chicago traveling west at 60 miles per hour, and the rear differential locks up, and the car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside, does my company initiate a recall?
You take the population of vehicles in the field (A) and multiply it by the probable rate of failure (B), then multiply the result by the average cost of an out-of-court settlement (C).
A times B times C equals X. This is what it will cost if we don't initiate a recall.
If X is greater than the cost of a recall, we recall the cars and no one gets hurt.
If X is less than the cost of a recall, then we don't recall."
Tyler Durden, is that you? ;) -
There was never just simple evil on B5Nobody did anything because they were evil. Well may just Emperor Cartagia, but he was nuts in a Caligula sort of way. Morden was a spiritual disciple of the Shadows. Who to human eyes where the ultimate Bug Eyed Monsters, were not really such bad guys. Their Nietzsche-esque strength thru war had the same misinterpretation the Nazi had.
from Wikipedia
:"has the joke goes, Nietzsche detested Nationalism, Socialism, Germans and mass movements, so naturally he was adopted as the intellectual mascot of the National Socialist German Workers' Party." He was also far from being a racist, believing that the "vigour" of any population could only be increased by mixing with others."Morden gets a bit more development in that Technomage series.
Everybody had reasons and history for why they did stuff. The Bester character kept Garibaldi under his thumb because he was in such a perfect position to hear stuff. What malice there was was incidental, just bad blood between them.
Overall Walter Koenig, is the only real actor to come out of the series. Later work by almost the whole cast had a 'Phone it in' feel. See Nimoy's role in Brave New World, (it stank on ice)

What kind of post is this? You have left out The Animated Series! -
Re: Legal Ramifications of ST:TNV
what are the legal ramifications of this?
According to IMDB, none, as long as they don't make a profit.
Relevant section:Trivia: Although this is a "non-official" Star Trek incarnation, Paramount Pictures which owns the name and the rights to Star Trek agreed to allow the producers of New Voyages to make these episodes on the condition that no profit was to be garnered from the show.

Re:Walter Koenig Rocks!
Anyone else catch Walter in that goofy moon movie he made? I remember he was making out in a moon tent with a moon babe and some moon robot tried to kill him! On the moon! What was that movie called? Something
... 'trap'.
Err. You're being silly, right? It's "Moontrap":
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097911/
The foes are football-sized egg-like alien constructor robots that look benign, but when you're not looking they sprout tentacles and construct big robotic / cybernetic bodies from scrap metal or corpses for the purpose of killing and maiming.
I seem to remember it as above-average low-budget sci-fi movie. In some way it's refreshing because (besides the aliens), it's fairly realistic in terms of physics and spaceflight. -

Filter is just as retarded. Another weird looking chick
But she was Fook Mi!
(they're trying to push the hot-chick thing for the male viewers, but aside from the punky blonde, morgan webb and sarah lane, they're all kind of below-average). And she basically presents what's nothing more than a weekly slashdot-poll/meme.
They're definately pushing the TnA, ala Maxim. I think the most blatent show that does that is "Street Fury." All of a sudden in the middle of that show they show asian girls disrobing. I'm all for scantily clad girls, but that show sucks. SF doesn't suck as hard as its companion, "Formula D", but that's only because "Formula D" doesn't have half naked asian girls.
What the fuck is "drifting" anyway? I watched that show twice and never did figure it out. It's not race. Apparently the guy that doesn't spin out wins, Woop-dee-freakin-do. I like motorsports, and will watch pretty much anything, but I'm not watching that.
I wouldn't say the g4 girls were below average. They're average, which means for television they are below average, since everyone one television is above average. -

Go the War Games route
Have a computer play tic-tac-toe against itself as it also tries to discover nuclear launch codes. Have everyone run around in a panic, picking up phones and screaming orders, handing off papers, etc. Make sure you have a big red phone in the center. When it rings, answer, "Yes, Mr. President."
That'll impress them!
Oh, and hire this guy for your center. He needs a real job. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001056/ -

GNAA FROST PISTAGEGNAA Congratulates the Debian Project on the Release of Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 "Sarge"
GNAA Congratulates the Debian Project on the Release of Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 "Sarge"BATON ROUGE, LA - June 6, 2005 - The Gay Nigger Association of America extended today its congratulations to the Debian Project regarding its 8th consecutive release of the Debian GNU/Linux distribution. The latest incarnation of Debian, codenamed "Sarge", had been eagerly anticipated for approximately 6,000 years by both unwashed GNU/Hippies and fizzlebearded Open Source aficionados alike. So far the reception of "Sarge" has ranged from indifferent to uninterested, but the release has managed to draw the attention of many fundamentalist Christians, who have long seen the release of a new version of Debian as one of the major signs of the apocalypse.
"Sarge" is notable for greatly expanding upon the Debian policy of creating distributions that are obsolete before they are even released - a practice which, while not particularly desirable, has been enthusiastically received by nostalgic collectors of outdated open source software, as well as the National Association for Marketing Buggy Linux Applications, or NAMBLA. Debian project leader Branden Robinson defended the policy, however, in an impromptu GNAA interview which was conducted at his home. When asked to comment on Debian's slow adoption of new software, he was quoted as saying, "Look, the fact is that the open source development model is so ineffective that just as many new bugs are probably created in each release as old ones are fixed, so it all evens out. Right? Um - please stop touching my leg. No I'm not homophobic, I just - hey, I said cut it out! No, stop! I'm saving myself for Bruce Perens! HELP!"
About Debian
The Debian project was started in 1993 by Ian Murdock, who was unsatisfied with the level of political bickering and useless hand-wringing found in other projects at the time. The Debian Project has grown steadily over the years and currently consists of over 1,000 developers and maintainers, yet contains more bugs and is more out of date than the older Slackware distribution, which is produced by a single maintainer with a chronic bacterial infection. Debian's use has been on the decline due to users being fed up with its sluggish release process and political drama, but it has nevertheless received the accolade of those Linux users who have not yet discovered the existence of superior and more modern distributions such as Ubuntu, Fedora Core, and Windows Server 2003.
