Re:Idea for the Wii controller
There's also an app called WiiSaber for OS X which lets you swing the WiiMote around and makes lightsaber noises.

Gocomics/isnoop.net
Well... I just read the strip on gocomics (actually I read it in thunderbird with help from isnoop.net's comic strip snagger http://isnoop.net/comics/ but that's not so important). So I'd say I had to do the least job so far (not having to find it otherwhere and missing it.) =)

Google shut down the spoolersInvite spoolers have been around for some time.
I seem to remember Google shutting down the spoolers over a year ago. Now how can people with a land-line phone get an account?
-
Re:Similar to the Gmail network of friends
The invitation rule is just a symptom of the fact that GMail is still in beta (after more than two years!). The invitation network has long since become meaningless: many GMail users will send an invite to any stranger that asks. Also, invite servers sent out hundreds of thousands of invites to anybody who asked before Google forced them to shut down.

Re:Singh is an idiot - so many errors
I'm on the first paragraphs and there is almost an error per sentence.
Well, I'm on your first sentence and there is almost an error per sentence. Once past the opening sentence there are quite a few factual errors which happens to bump your score to almost two errors per sentence. Good thing you only gave us one paragraph.BTW, Amit Singh credentials re. his knowledge of kernals/OSes (past and present) speaks for itself (of course if you are ignorant and can't read, then you shall remain clueless.)
Oh, you can definitely blame him for first hacking the motion sensor, and releasing the code, which led to the Mac-boys getting jedi-grade weaponry - The MacSaber.
So please go back to trying to recompie your HelloWorld app and do keep us informed of your progress.

Another shut down...
Yet another Gmail user-created service shut down: http://isnoop.net/gmail/
-
Re:Nicest Shut down?
On a related note, the gmail invite spooler has also been taken down recently.
-
The gMail invite spooler's been shut down, too
Google's been shutting down the gMail invite spooler , too, but according to the creator and owner of the site (http://isnoop.net/gmail/) his legal notification from the legal team was quite friendly, it's pretty cool that google isn't the kind of company that keeps rabid lawyers around to sue people. Re:greeeeeeeaaaat
You haven't? Funny, I got an invite from Google a few weeks ago now... but I've had a Gmail account for a while now, thanks to http://isnoop.net/gmail/. They have zillions of invites now, so that's the easiest way to get an account.

Re:When is this going live, dammit!
Just ask someone for an invite. I have 100 invites between my two gmail accounts. Or if you don't want to ask someone for an invite, try this site. http://isnoop.net/gmail/
-
Re:When is this going live, dammit! All you have to do is ask.
I keep getting topped up to 50 invites every time I send a few out, I imagine other people do too.
Or you could visit Isnoop to get one sent to you.
I asked for one in my .SIG and got one within two posts.
If nobody sends you one, or you don't feel like giving out your email address, I have a gmail account in the name of mpreditor that you can reach me at.

Not *the* Free iPod people
Note that this article is not about the Gratis Networks freeipod offer, which was the first and most well-known, but about one of their more sleazy imitators. Here's another article that compares and contrasts a sleazy imitator to the original Gratis Networks.
Gratis Networks just requires you to do one single promotional offer--and get several of your friends to do the same. Unlike the fraudulent con game that most people are referring to when they say "pyramid scheme" (you know, the "send five bucks to everyone on this list and then add your name" type thing) no money changes hands between you, Gratis, or your referrals; the money is paid from the advertisers to Gratis. Click the link in my signature to find more info. It's legit. Granted, you're going to receive a lot of spam to the address you sign up for with, but that's what easily-available GMail addresses or disposable email address services like SpamGourmet are for.
Oh, and FYI, I received my free 20 gig iPod several months ago, and just got my free 27" Sony flatscreen TV last night. And I only need six more completed referrals to get my free Mac Mini... -
Re:What am I supposed to use for e-mail?

Re:Invite overload
With the graphs I've seen of how they quickly lose them, combined with the fact that 3 of my 5 invites were used the next DAY, I'm going to say that the 24000 is a rolling figure.
Plus, due to the supposed "expiration" after 30 days, the invites they have won't last forever. But, when I get them back, I'll redonate. Not too big of a hassle.
Also, has anyone noticed an insane increase in the amount of invites? Can someone say "daymn"? How do we know they're all good? -
lots of gmail

Re:Gmail invites
Why don't you stop falsely accusing people of things that are not true?
Umm... Because they didn't actually accuse anyone of anything?
I would pre-emptively mod this down. I'm not even touching those links.
That just sounds like the poster is illucidating their actions. That isn't actually accusing anybody of anything
I have a pretty good idea of what they point to(hint: not g-mail invites.)
And this is the author simply posting an opinion, and the line "I have a pretty good idea" spells that out clearly.
Now, using the line "Why don't you stop falsely accusing people of things that are not true?" can easilly be taken as accusing the poster of false accusations, much along the lines of asking someone "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" wherein the question presupposes guilt.
Even if Zen Punk had erroniously labeled the Gmail invites as a misleading troll, this would be an understandable mistake as there is a known troll tactic for linking to a shock site with an apparent server source of google.com, usually perporting to link to Gmail invites. And not to mention that Zen Punk came back and apologized upon being informed that the links were indeed valid (or at least not a link to a shock site.)
Not to mention that the use of "Anonymous Coward" is often used by trolls, and so often raises ones suspicion. Now, I realize that this may seem a little two faced as I intend to post this AC, but simply wish to save face in the event that I am biting on a troll here.
And this isn't even getting into the topic of posting gmail invites on an unrelated discussion as offtopic. If you are indeed trying to be a good samaritan and offering these invites up because you do not have a need for them, I would suggest donating them to one of several online Gmail account distribution sites. Now, there is a chance that the site I linked to is indeed trying to harvest Gmail addresses for spam or some other use (I mean, the domain name isnoop.net is pretty suspicious) but a quick look around the site at least calmed my suspicions. And on a whim I opened a Gmail account through one of their invites a while ago, and haven't gotten any spam yet... but who knows what the future will bring?

Re:Would like to go to gmails party....
"Join the gmail-invite-board on Google Groups 2 (groups-beta.google.com)."
Or better yet, use the GMail-o-Matic automatic GMail invite and provisioning system. I am not affiliated with it, but I've had great luck with it.

For all of you waiting for invites...
Sign up here: http://isnoop.net/gmailomatic.php
I know it works, as I just sent 3 invites to their email address, and within 10 minutes someone had already activated the first one. This is a really cool service, and since it's automated, it's easy. -
Re:The catch is..
if you have gmail invites to spare, consider donating some to the gmail-o-matic gmail invite spooler...

Re:gmail invitesOk, for all you guys who have spare gmail invites, I've found this link: isnoop.net's gmail invite spooler Seems like a decent way to share the wealth - has to be more efficient than trying to do it by slashdot post.

Re:My Biggest Problem
I noticed this too - it flies compared to Hotmail or Yahoo, but I'm a little worried that the honeymoon will end when it moves from beta and allows millions of more users.
Then again, if anyone can pull it off, it's Google.
I think Google is already moving in that direction. I've given out heaps of invites in the past couple of weeks, and a few hours later, they keep coming back each time.
And so far, so good. They did move recently to automatically delete messages left in the Spam and Trash folders for more than 30 days, but if they keep dishing out invites, I can only assume storage space isn't an issue for them.
-
Re:GMail Invites...
Donate them to the Gmail invite spooler!
-
Re:Of course...Ummm... GMail is worse than the preppy invite-only clubs. Even with $$$, you are not necessarily going to get an account.
Gee, maybe that's because it's still in beta. (BTW, there is a gmail invite spooler.)
