Re:How many
Quick! Take two of these. It may not get the ring-ring-ringing out of your head but it'll at least keep it in perspective.

Yes.
This reminds me of a flash movie I seen earlier this year. It's pretty accurate.
I think the problem is they're trying to hide the same old games with a few central innovations, whether it be with a water pack (for Mario) or wind control (for Zelda). I also believe that games in general are starting to feel stale because there are no major revolutions to speak of, like there was when they moved from 2D to 3D. When this happened, they were more or less forced to create new genres, and the concept as a whole was new at the time. We need something like that again. -
Libertarian Idealist Philosophy...
...in the form of a flash animation may be found on newgrounds.com here...
Obviously in the real world, practical matters soften the idealistic concepts in the animation, but it gives you a good idea of the direction that Libertarian political philosophy takes.

Re:Well obviously...

Not news, exactly.
Outwar has been doing this for a long time... various sites with similar demographics (for example, http://www.newgrounds.com/) have had to deal with the issue of spamming Outwar links for years. In most of those places it's bannable, or whatever the equivalent is.
Unfortunately, there's really no way to police something like this... a game that's designed such that the more people you can get to click on your links, the better you do. All you can really do is try to keep people from posting them. -
Re:is it just me...
I don't know about Hong Kong, but there's a whole bunch of flash-based dating sims out of Japan. They're mildly amusing if you're bored of all the other flash games out there. Like anything they can be pathetic if you take them too seriously.
-
Kinda reminds me of......those "dating sims" at Newgrounds.
Just sad. Why not bundle the phone with an eHarmony service if your phone user is that lonely?

DDR for your Burning Cell Phone
DDR for mobile phones? Hell yeah! But it's too bad the phone mix probably doesn't have "Hot Limit" on it: "Burning cell phone... we drink Ritalin..."

I am very happy
One of my major problems with the flash 6 for linux was how it handled the fade ins and outs that you find in a lot of things on newgrounds. It took 5 to 10 times longer to actually do it compared to the Windows version. Some games also had a problem with the same timing. For a long time, I used crossover office just for the flash plugin but I got frustrated with it crashed constantly and having to reload or cleanup just to download a new flash. Thankfully, the new version actually does a fade in and out properly and one of my favorite music videos in flash, There she is! is almost perfect on my box.

If your doctor won't give you Ritalin
Avoid cocaine in its HCl and freebase forms. The only coke you want is vanilla whose active ingredient is caffeine.
Like SPEED (methamphetamine) and cocaine, RITALIN (methylphenidate) is a schedule II controlled substance. If your doctor won't give you methamphetamine, then just watch this video and get at least some of the effect.

Re:The best thing about 2-channel
I'll be an anonymous coward here (just like half the users on 2ch!).
Most of the flash animations above can be found on websites like albinoblachsheep, newgrounds, and various filesharing places.
Sorry, you fail. :) -
Mushroom mushroom
It's "badger badger badger" not "magic magic magic". I've heard bits and pieces of the vocal track alone.
Anyway, the author used the wrong "mushroom" picture. It should have looked like this.

Re:Uninstall Flash
You also can't go here:
Homestarrunner.com
or here
newgrounds.com/
Not using flash is not an option for some people. Atleast FireFox makes it super easy to block any flash element with a small "Ad Block" tab it attached to it. -

The DRM-free competition
when all your games/applications/movies/music suddenly require it, you can either deal with it and not use them or budge and use DRM.
Then you've made a wrong decision in the first place to rely only on games, applications, movies and music that require digital restrictions management. There exist Free 2D games (and a few Free 3D games), loads of Free apps (except in those niches that are cluttered with patents, such as color print work), no-cost Flash movies, and quite a bit of no-cost music on irate. As long as PC companies continue to sell PCs and not Xbox consoles, it remains straightforward to stay in the Free World.

Teletubbies!!
The human race will not end in a dark nuclear apocalyptic wasteland, but rather in a cheerfull, neatly-kept lawn, covering the entire land mass of the planet.
Cool! Sounds like Teletubbies land!!
Go here to find out which Teletubbies charcter you are, but oh my, this doesn't seem right.... -
Thoughts on Alternatives.Amazon.com has a nice little feature that says, "Is this review useful?"
And by default, you can see the review of the item that is most relevant.
How can this not apply to Teacher Reviews? If a review of the teacher is particularly bad, but gets voted as useful / accurate, then oh well.
Maybe reviews should be blammed Newgrounds Style, but with a few modifications. After a certain number of votes, if the review is found slanderous / not useful, it becomes invisible and flagged for review.
Also, why not instead of censor it, allow the actual teacher room to respond to his / her own review? If there are 200 upvotes on a negative review of the teacher, the teacher should have the right to defend his / her own philosophy.
Apparently this fellow doesn't care for his work *too* much. If he fought the good fight, I'm sure the ACLU et al would help foot the bill.
Thoughts? (I'd prefer responses over moderation on this one)

HTML, then Macromedia Flash
For an experiment, see how he feels about putting together a puzzle/"choose your own adventure" style game in HTML. Have each page represent a new location or result from an action and link them all together ("Click here to turn left down the corridor or here to drink the potion on the table"). This will teach him a bit about game structure and let him throw in a few (admittedly, static) graphics, all with a very low technical knowledge threshold. It will also introduce the idea of scripts, embedded objects, and hyperlinking (which, naturally, are useful in many other endevors beyond game construction). If he does well (e.g. actually finishes the dang thing), you should look at Macromedia Flash (as others have suggested). Newgrounds has a ton of flash games & cartoons that are unsuitable for a nine year old, but there are two stop motion lego cartoons that I suspect will fire up your son: a basic Lego pirate movie (no sound, very short) and a Lego Treasure Hunt Game (which is an incredible bit of work - I've wanted to do one myself for a while now). I personally like the stop motion animation aspect of both as they level the playing ground for the artistically impaired (such as myself).
Good luck!

Re:It's an insane decision.
Which is exactly what Disney did, they fired the guys with paintbrushes and now the computer people are all that's left. You'll still see 2D cartoons, but no one will be drawing them anymore, they'll be dragging Bezier curve points like every Flash animator on Newgrounds.
Not that I don't enjoy Newgrounds, but Walt must be spinning in his cryo-tube. -

Re:Some NextGen speculation...
The only way consolidated hardware would work for the console industry would be if there was more than one hardware provider. There should be serveral more or less identicle systems that all run the same game software. Otherwise who ever controls the hardware will control prices and we'll end up with 80 dollar games like back when Nintendo was in power. (Although that involved other factors as well.) If two of the big three team up that won't change much in the industy. It would just make the market for games on that system larger. The larger the market the more profits will be gained from that market. This translates to a more conservitive developer because more money will be invested in games raising barriers to entry. We'll end up with the same troubles we have now.
If we want to focus on supporting content we'll need a more liberal system so developers can profit from making smaller games for nitch markets. That way good ideas have room to grow before they require a large investment. Would take a while to explain such a system so I'll just post a link hinting at similar market. Newgrounds

OMG *SPOOGE*
Santa-beard on that...
My mind is alredy overflowing with potential applications. I want to smash one to see how it works. Actually I want to smash them all because I'm afraid of things that I don't understand. Although once I understand it that urge will go away. This is like, God's gift to DSP engineers. It's both exciting and frightening to contemplate it's potential applications.
I guess when and where can I get one and how much will it cost? -
Re:When I heard HomeBrew robot
[SWF is] not a good basis for an entire website
Try telling that to the webmasters at Newgrounds. Newgrounds has HTML navigation, but the meat of its content is audiovisual works in SWF format.
There are better tools [than SWF] for animation
What format 1. can compress a vector cel animation smaller than SWF can while retaining image quality (thus ruling out DivX, MPEG-4 advanced simple video, RealVideo, and Windows Media Video) and 2. has player plug-ins for major graphical web browsers on Windows, Mac, and GNU/Linux operating systems?

Re:yup, happened here
This is why someone, preferably a well-known group like the EFF or ACLU, needs to start a non-profit fund to defend people from the RIAA.
The RIAA is like a wounded sabre-toothed tiger... It's going down slowly, and it's getting weaker, but it's still more than strong enough to kill the average person.
Even though they are slowly disintegrating, they still have far more money to bribe the judge and far more lawyers than their victims (who are chosen because of this) ever will so most of their victims have to either A) get screwed by the RIAA, B) Fight the case, loose, and meet Big Gay Bubba in prison, or C) Fight, win, and suffer financial ruin for the rest of their lives.
I doubt that the RIAA would be so apt to go after p2p users if they stood a chance of defending themselves. Why do you think predators always go after the young, the sick, and the elderly? -
I commend the companies...
who aren't pulling out as a knee jerk action. SCO needs to file a lawsuit against the entity responsible for revealing the code and get it over with. If the judge decides certain Linux code is infringing SCO's work, then it will be pulled and replaced with a new implementation in a few weeks. Now if only SCO will play show and tell for the world and show us what is infringing without playing any funny tricks like NDA contracts. Yep even the big boys need to play show and tell.
Speaking of which... this is my pee-pee place! Oh yeah.. -
Re:Wasn't this already done?
a better example would be the many sim dating games that have been made in Flash. you can find a hell of a lot of them on newgrounds. I think they've got an entire catagory for them. I'd post a more exact link, but I'm behind my work's firewall at the moment.

How would you support the blind on these sites?
I agree that ignorance is a factor but in many cases a forgivable factor. Even I acknowledge my ignorance as to how a web site such as Worth 1000 or Newgrounds would cater to users with vision deficiencies.

Re:Finally.....Am I really the only person who enjoys the ocasional flash game or toon?
Back when I had time, I would spend hours on sites like Newgrounds playing all the games there. Where else but in the land of flash can you Race RC Cars with a parrot?
Sure, it may not be the most usefull thing out there, but hey, it still fun.
