This oughta be worth 80 karma!
Here's the Coral Cache of the article, just in case it get's Slashdotted...

Excellent but two issues1. He needs to be holding a bottle of "Olde Fortran Malt Liquor"
2. Fire needs to come out the exhaust fan port.
Not bad for meatbags though. =)

Re:Printable page
The "printable page" version is ad free and still loading quickly.
Let's keep it that way, use the coral cache instead.

Re:mirror of full article
Also, Coral Cache, in case no-one has submitted it yet.
Den ene knappen er powerknapp, den andre er Bender voice knapp "Bite My Shiny Metal Ass"
I don't know what that line of the article means, but I'm making it my IRC quit anyway.

It's the ad server that melted
If you turn off Javascript, the Coral cached link works fine. It's their ad server that melted, and with 4 or 5 javascript includes per page, that's a long wait for timeouts.

Re:Open Source Presentation
Coral Cache Version since your post got rated up so much. And yes, I just loaded it to get it on the network.

Coral Cache
I took the liberty of pre-caching the site on Coral before it went live - http://www.viralg.com.nyud.net:8090/index.html. I think Slashdot should really consider doing this as part of the proceedure...this site won't last a minute under the weight of our collective, nerdy asses.

Another FilmIf you're interested in another Star Wars fan film, check out To Know A Jedi. It's a fan film, like Revelations, but it's different from Revelations and a good swath of other fan films in that it doesn't take place directly within the Star Wars universe. The plot is a college graduate and his quest to build a lightsaber, but the story is centered around his devotion to this project and how it affects the relationships with his friends. All that Star Wars does is give a catalyst for the characters to play out their parts.
Give it a shot- all you've got to lose is the time it takes to download it +90 minutes to watch it.
A trailer, so you can try before you watch.
The full movie,if you feel so inclined to skip the website and just watch it.
Links cached for your downloading pleasure.

Re:coral cache
Someone needs to learn to make a Coral Cache link...
P1: http://www.phwcomics.com.nyud.net:8090/index.php?p id=12&cs=13&cid=148
P2: http://www.phwcomics.com.nyud.net:8090/index.php?p id=12&cs=13&cid=150
P3: http://www.phwcomics.com.nyud.net:8090/index.php?p id=12&cs=13&cid=151
Note the [nuyd.net] URL and the nyuddy slowness. You've got to add .nyud.net:8090 to the DOMAIN NAME part of the URL, otherwise it's just adding .nyud.net to either the path or the query string on the original server. -

Which is one good reason why......we are working on Freenet and supporting efforts like Freenet-China. We are also beefing up Freenet's security to more effectively thwart Chinese censorship, allowing extremely vulnerable users set up a "global darknet", where they only communicate directly with people they trust. Read more about it here.
As always, if anyone would like to support our development effort, please feel free to donate.

Flaming server
I'm surprised they don't have a satellite image of their web server just as it was being slashdotted.
Here's a mirror from coral cache, though it's having problems too. Same for mirrordot. -
XgridEasy access to Xgrid is a bigger deal IMO than most people realize. Think about it, in a nice size office setup if you have 200 G5 PowerMacs you also have free access to a 200 G5 node cluster at night. Adding in Xgrid to the base distro and prefs panel makes sense. Once someone writes a Realbasic interface to Xgrid you could really see it's use grow. I also see to possibility of companies leasing out this clustering time to others that need access to this kind of processing power. Considering most office Macs sit idle at night Xgrid could turn into free money.
While there are a number of different clustering tools for MS Windows IFAIK MS doesn't have a standardized version distributed with XP. The parent posting is right in pointing this out.

Re:Sakakibara Kikai
Huh?
Babelfish gets "Sakaki field machine corporation". (My limited knowledge makes me think it should be "Sakakibara Mechnical Corp.") Relevant page.
Either way, I'm not sure why this is considered "homebrew" - considering that it seems to be backed by a company of some sort. -
Canadian bloggersA number of Canadian sites that had previously been discussing the scandal have removed their coverage and links due to the threats.
So far, Small Dead Animals is still covering it.
So is Angry in the Great White North, who writes:
After I sanitized my previous post about Jean Brault's testimony at the Gomery Inquiry, I felt ill. After many hours, I decided to look in my wife's purse for something that might make me feel better. But instead of Tylenol, I found a pair. I recognized them as my own, and put them back on.

Informative discussion on Straight Dope
There is a conversation on the Straight Dope Message Boards about this topic. The conclusion was that even factoring in Chernobyl, nuclear power kills fewer people per megawatt-hour generated than coal does.

Hmm.
Glasgow based artist Sandy Smith has some slightly different suggestions for what to do with those outdated PCs and Apple Macs -- build your home out of them!
I'll have to ask my mom if I can build a house in her basement.
Aw, she says I have to bathe first.
