Honestly, he's quite fascinating and quite quick to declare victory, make threats etc. One of my favourite instances of this, is this article someone wrote about someone doing Internet threats to sue them, when who should appear, but APK. He then discovers the existence of this article and continues on in the comments.

However, he does serve a purpose - he gives an insight into why "haters gotta hate".

I think he's really differen, I have not seen people as passionate about this sort of thing in IT. The only passionate reactions to continue with such longevity is things I see from groups like the Taliban/ISIS - Which really leaves a question about his psyche and motivations.

This guy. Note he's in the comments. He's been at large on the Internet on various forums for like 15 years, maybe longer, filling his posts with complaints about the HOSTS file and a curriculum vitae of every time somebody famous has ever agreed with him or appeared to. And you can't ask him to talk like a normal human being or he'll scoff that you're not an English professor. Even if you're an English professor. One time he was quoted in some magazine once, and one time Mark Russinovich said thanks in some comment on his blog or something, so you know he's hot shit.

Recently some slashdotters have taken to trolling him by posting things in his name and using his style, since he refuses to get a username on slashdot and always posts AC. The original troll looks almost identical to him. There seem to be ancillary trolls that are not nearly as good at trolling.

I don't want him stalking me so I'll post this AC.

APK is a guy who hoards and dumps stacks of links to old posts, talks about his manifestos, and uses shitty post formatting to do all that. Of course, he's been hurt by the conspiracy everyone else is in on, too. He also holds grudges and will reply his copy-pasted manifesto to every single post someone makes after they piss him off. If you really want to do that, mention how his program that is designed to hide executing software from windows is a rootkit and/or make fun of his RAM defragmenting program.

The difference here is that you didn't insult anyone and you don't have enough randomly "bolded" italic words and ===> ascii art arrows and random BLOCK CAPS to "convince" me that you're "really" APK. But overuse of quotes "especially" "back to back", dumping a list of links to your previous posts, and having a high punctuation-to-text ratio (enough with the parenthetical asides, srsly!) definitely brings APK to mind when reading your post.

In case you are not aware, the post is a satire of a fellow known as APK. The grammar used is modeled after APK's as you can see here. Or, you can just look around a bit and see some of his posts on here about the wonders of host files.

This response is being posted because you clearly didn't understand the last two comments, and I want you to waste more time putting together a long-ass response that has nothing to do with anything whatsoever.

Incidentally, I was running an anti-malware tool on my PC and it found I had something called apkapp2backgrounddaemonprocessengine.exe installed which is apparently dangerous malware according to a ton of websites. Someone with your PC experience might know: can you tell me how to remove it?

My Dearest Peter, a.k.a. Alexander Peter Kowalski, is a well known spammer and troll, banned from multiple websites. He has some sort of multiple personalities disorder and brags and barks a lot but has no teeth to bite. Don't worry, just ignore him as everyone else around does (and as someone said before in this thread "do not summon him"). You can also play with it, it's a bit funny at the beginning but you'll quickly get tired of it although it's an unbreakable toy.

Also note that he's unable to prove any of the achievements he claims because he's unable to prove his identity nor is he able to understand the concept of identity. He also will threaten to sue you but never will and will tell you that your place is in a kitchen if you're an unfortunate member of the female class. He admitted (more like claimed) being raped multiple time by his ex-girlfriend and of abducting at least one of them, probably the same.

As you noted, he's unable to admit that he's made an error. Making errors happens to everyone and most people are willing to admit it and learn from it. He simply can't.

He's also keeping records of all his upmods on slashdot but of none of his downmods (too many of these), thinks that there is a Great Conspiracy against Him and will keep answering as long as you post a line after him. You can try it for yourself: just post "Hi Peter, I love you" after each of his post and he will answer about a 1000 lines of gibberish. every. single. time.

Sometimes his mental algorithm enters a loop and sometimes there is a callback function called that makes a new poster appear and write single-line posts trying to act as if it's not him. You get it, I think it's actually a bot, a very good one at that. I'm writing a paper for a special issue of JEPG about him. A very interesting case.

He has no PhD of any sort and seems to have developed an inferiority complex about it, he's no security expert but keeps acting and posing as one, there is a long list of childish manners in the way he behaves and he has an illegible writing style, as you've probably noted.

I have never claimed that using hosts is a solution to spam and viruses and malware, but I can see that people would think that is what I've been saying.

In any case, I am not going to use exactly your apology, but I think I owe everyone an explanation and maybe should say sorry for where I have let my anger get the better of me:

I apologize for the anger I've expressed against those who have stated such opinions, I don't agree with them and feel it is unfair of them to call my software that, but I respect that they have different opinions.

* I have advised many people to use a customized "HOSTS" file to block malware and spam sites. Some people may have misunderstood my advice and be assuming I am saying HOSTS does more than it does. Sensible download and quarantine policies, as recommended and practiced by most computer professionals, will eliminate almost all threats, but HOSTS files can help reduce infections for people who don't understand that.

* I may also have recommended the use of HOSTS files for purposes that would introduce security risks and actually destabilize the networks on which they're used. In particular I happily withdraw the recommendation to cache commonly used website hostnames.

* I have frequently ignored good advice by demanding evidence of qualifications, demanding questions be answered when they have been, and otherwise ignoring the information given to me. I apologize sincerely for this. I apologize in particular to the legions of computer professionals, from Thor Schrock - who I may have used juvenile insults against, to (by inference) Bill Gates, a man whose decisions I might not always agree with, but who has proven himself time and time again to be a quality business and technology leader.
