Re:They will when he obstructs
But I still don't see impeachment. Imagine what that would do to the Republicans. It would make the Tea Party years seem like a walk in the park. It would be a civil war.
Added to that, Trump voters don't really care about this. According to the FBI Flynn did nothing wrong. As far as I can tell his sin was lying to Pence. Shouldn't the meme be "Trump is a dictator who squashes anyone who lies to his people?"
The comments on this story are all "oh wow it's all over Trump has lost all support"...from a bunch of people who never supported Trump in the first place. I liked Flynn, but if he was lying to Mike, well, fuck him, he's booted, let's get somebody else in there and get back to MAGA.
-
Re:Yeah he should have just said "of course we tal
Except according to the FBI nothing Flynn did was illegal. Flynn's sin was lying to Pence. Shouldn't the narrative be that Trump is a dictator who is ruthless with anyone who is disloyal to or embarrasses him?

Re:Failure of Big Science
Climate change predicts a lot of things such as more extreme weather events becoming more common.
The California drought is the worst that's happened in the state in the last 1000 years.
If anything, many of the predictions were overly conservative.
In 2001 the IPCC predicted that sea level would rise 2mm/year. It's actually rising 3.3mm/year. They predicted that the arctic ice sheet would melt in 50-70 years in 2006. It's now predicted to melt by 2052.Here are some predictions that came true:
1. The sea level is rising in most places, though at the high end (or higher) than original predictions (3.2mm/year vs 2mm).
2. The sea level fell near Greenland as predicted due to the loss of mass and the gravitational pull of that mass.
3. Extreme weather events were predicted to become more common with climate change. This is happening as "about 25% of moderate daily hot extremes can be attributed to warming.".
4. The predicted radiative forcing effect from CO2 has been observationally confirmed. -
Re:Desert
You fail to realize how much habitat is now available for growing and raising animals and how much land is not destroyed by periodic massive floods. Water in California is a precious resource. It is what makes California the most productive agricultural state in the nation. The value of the crops grown in California are almost double the next largest state (Texas). Because of this, there are many acres of land that are used to grow crops, which consume CO2 in order to grow which are far more productive than the usual desert one would find for much of the year. Without the dam there would be periodic massive flooding and most likely the land would be used for cattle grazing, which is what much of the grassland in California is used for.
Before spouting off that California is wasteful of water, California agriculture has been getting more efficient with water use and already leads most of the country. They've been moving away from gravity irrigation/flooding to drip irrigation and other methods.
The Oroville dam was built in large part to prevent major flood damage, estimated to have prevented more than $1.3 billion in damage between 1987 and 1999 alone.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the water from the reservoir used in agriculture was more than enough to offset any greenhouse gases emitted. Many trees are alive because of the water where the central valley grows a lot of nut and fruit trees.

Re:Desert
Also, decay of plant material under hyrdo reseviors and active aquatic microbial digestion is a source of added methane emmissions. Studies show these emissions may be quite high.
No headlines make these emissions sound "quite high" relative to every other energy source they're in-line with solar and wind. They aren't perfect, but they aren't worse than fossil fuels by a factor of 10.
Actually we don't have the data yet to make those claims. Also, if you just look at electrical generation sources you get a different balance as much fossil fuel burning is for transportation and other.

Re:They are not creating 2,000 jobs, duh.
Higher salaries for some subset of people can be beneficial. For example, increasing the minimum wage can boost consumption and stimulate the economy. In many ways it's just a transfer of wealth from the richer to the poorer. Fortunately, the poorer are better consumers and they stimulate the economy creating need for more stuff and maybe more jobs.
This is actually not true.
Give some research that backs up your claims. https://www.bloomberg.com/news... http://www.epi.org/publication... https://www.washingtonpost.com...
You're right that minimum wage raises are a transfer of money (and, in fact, buying power) from the richer to the poorer; the problem is the "richer" here make $12/hr, and the "poorer" just got bumped from $7.25/hr to $8.25/hr. Minimum wage isn't incorrect; but it doesn't magically create jobs. It concentrates income into fewer hands.
I never said how much I would increase the minimum wage. At a minimum, one needs to increase it to a living wage, so tax payers stop subsidizing the companies that exploit these workers. Since Bernie's done the research, let's start with $15/hr and set increases based on inflation.
Shorter version shot from the hip [slashdot.org].
https://9to5mac.com/2016/06/13...
In the short term, the problem's actually the same: it's cheaper to get humans to do a lot of things, and humans employ technical means to reduce their labor. For the foreseeable future, elimination of human labor is an amusing fantasy taken too seriously by delusional people.
So it will happen, but we just shouldn't worry about it. There should be a term for that, maybe AI denier.
Well it's been fun, but I probably will not read another response. Even if I don't accept your novelty or follow your logic, I do admire your spunk. Keep at it.

Re:No shit Sherlock. That's what happens
Obama quote is lacking context and absolutely does not mean he had been planning on bankrupting the industry, it's talking about building new coal plants with older technology (source and write-up here. It certainly isn't a suggestion that Obama plans to "bankrupt" the coal industry, simply to require new plants be built using modern, more efficient, technologies.
The Clinton quote is largely correct for context, though it should be pointed out it was in a larger discussion about improving conditions for blue collar workers by replacing coal jobs with renewable energy jobs.

Re:Cook will have to apologize soon
This is what he means by a few alt-right spewing lies.
Don't let reality hurt you. It's a very harsh mistress. When you decide to look, you can also note how the tone of media has changed as it's been consolidated into particular hands. I recommend the washington post as a starting point, then move onto NBC.
Yeah, we're trying to prevent that BEFORE it happens, not after.
Too bad it's already happening isn't it? That it's been going on for years. That you can look at Germany and see the government leaning on media and police not to report statistics. That one can look at Sweden where police officers are threatened with "racism" charges for reporting facts. Where the governments make demands of social media to censor things which are contrary to the presented viewpoint. Or police threaten and dox people for not wanting refugees in their backyard, or having particular points of view on sexuality. Or universities and student unions engaging in no-platforming, or threatening speakers because their view points no longer fit the radical agendas that are being pushed. Yes, very much trying to prevent what's already happening and encouraging a "further" counter-pendulum swing with your actions.

Re:Trump scare maybe
States with teachers unions have, on average, better schools. So unions don't seem to be killing schools. So what's wrong with them?
-
Re:also the biggest carbon emitter - yay!
Not that we'll eve know, but given a Division of US vs a Division or Russian soldiers on the same field, my bet would be on the Russians.
Generals McMaster and MacGregor have said as much, as well. The US brigades and divisions are too light on artillery IMO. Here's a good briefing on the subject: http://douglasmacgregor.com/RS...
But the Army never fights alone. The US relies very heavily on air power to shape the battlespace, and the argument of Russian air defenses vs USAF SEAD/PGMs is a very complex discussion. Not sure what you're on about here so you may need to provide some references.European military expenditure is still in the normal range
France, the UK, and Poland are spending 2% GDP. China, Australia, India = 1.9%. The global share of GDP is 2.3%. Most of Europe is closer to 1% (Germany 1.2%, Italy 1.3%, Spain 0.6%). https://www.sipri.org/database... http://books.sipri.org/files/F...
And it's hard to argue that the cost savings is materializing as any sort of persistent military efficiency, given that Europe has prosecuted two air campaigns in the past 10 years where they've had to borrow/buy munitions from the US in short order. http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.c... https://www.washingtonpost.com...
International R&D/procurement programs such as the Eurofighter Typhoon and A400M probably do yield cross-national economies of scale, but without a VERY robust commitment to command & control / administration / logistics / training & readiness, you can't run a multi-national combat force with any degree of integration and proficiency. http://www.military.com/daily-...

Re: So now under Trump...
People praying for the misery and suffering of others.
No evidence of such prayers being made was offered.
Oh, was that what you wanted? You should have said something to that effect, instead of making this false accusation: "Such is your disdain for people praying which only indicated your attempt to deceptively portray the point being made, which was about a particular kind of prayer.
Not that it's any problem to find them, but you know, if you had a shred of integrity, or even sense, you'd have instead cut the argument off by rejecting such praying and stating that you don't believe in any God that would grant them.
But, even if they were — they are just that, prayers. Words.
Most people would have noticed that key point.
Why? You said "Such is your disdain for people praying" thus making your attempt to discredit someone objecting to prayers, while deliberately failing to consider that the prayers in question were for the misery and suffering of others.
That's the key point you missed. Of course, that means you can't now go back and say that praying doesn't matter. Because that would make you disdainful yourself of praying, making your initial objection invalid on its premises. Which would just combine with your transparent attempt at deceit serves to really discredit you.
You need to sit back, take some time, and think about how badly you fumbled your response.
And no, you can't go around denying their existence any further, not even by quibbling, that'll just make you look bad. The smarter course, is as I said, to denounce the wingnuts and their asinine prayers.
But you couldn't even muster the sense to do that.
-
Re:What is the problem?..
If you are connected to two or more, you are likely going onto a watchlist.
Sounds sensible to me, but I sense, you meant to imply, it is somehow wrong. I guess, it depends on what the list is then used for. If, as "Antifa" are doing, it will be used to "alert" employers of the employees' political activities, it would be dangerous, but I strongly doubt that both a) that's what you were concerned about; b) that's what DC police will do.
Could you elaborate?
I suggest getting a Trump/Pence bumper sticker just to be safe.

Re:Judge should learn the law
"END OF STORY," you say, while linking the same article that the other guy did. Couldn't possibly be more to it than that, that's the end of the story. Never mind that it's a single succinct paragraph in an article about something else. Never mind that there are plenty of other articles going into greater depth on the subject, and showing that the first one really misrepresented the situation. Never mind that even if all of that business were true, it still wouldn't approach Trump's sweeping ban on everyone from seven countries regardless of their immigration status. Never mind all that. End of story.

Re:Judge should learn the law
Which woman is that? The one who actually died five days before the executive order, but her son lied about it, apparently for political reasons?
-
Re:Its Open Season on the Little Guy
Let us not forget that his very first executive order jacked up mortgage costs for home buyers. It's hard to find a total price tag reported for that move, but a naive* calculation suggests 750000 loans x $500/year x 30 years = $11 billion on loans taken out in 2017, with more to follow for next year's loans. All of it straight out of the pockets of the little guy.
*I defer to some one who actually understands present value calculations on loans.

Here's a choice quote from this article:
Should the liberal tribe (and let’s not deny it any longer – that’s both the Democratic and GOP Establishments these days) do business with them? Well, the risk otherwise is that the 1488ers start persuading people that their solution to natural conservatives’ problems is the only viable one. Re:I don't get it either.
Out goes the moderations, then.
it affects the 10% Christian populations of those countries and other religions
It does affect them, by giving them a special exemption:
(b) Upon the resumption of USRAP admissions, the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, is further directed to make changes, to the extent permitted by law, to prioritize refugee claims made by individuals on the basis of religious-based persecution, provided that the religion of the individual is a minority religion in the individual's country of nationality. Where necessary and appropriate, the Secretaries of State and Homeland Security shall recommend legislation to the President that would assist with such prioritization.
This is, in practice, Christians. (Muslims are the majority, other religions are almost non-existent in the given countries.)
(*) And for the record, Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952:
And, for the record, Section 202(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965
:No person shall receive any preference or priority or be discriminated against in the issuance of an immigrant visa because of his race, sex, nationality, place of birth, or place of residence
Emphasis mine. I haven't read the whole 1965 version, but unless there's a provision that creates exceptions for INA1952 212(f) I believe the 1965 version takes precedent. (There are exceptions to 202(a), but deal mainly with things like immediate relatives of citizens getting preference.)
Obama used this same law at least six times between 2010 and 2014 against people in Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Crimea without even a whimper from the ACLU, ADL, John McCain, Gender Netural Graham, Chuck You Schumer, Hillary, Mark Zuckerberg, Hollywood elites, or the establishment globalist media.
I'm a little fuzzy on the others, but at least the Iraq action in 2011 was in response to an actual threat, was not nearly as broad (applying only to pending applications), and wasn't even a proper ban (just a delay of approval while they re-evaluated the process.)
But, by all means, continue playing down 45's bullshit by shouting "but the other guy!"

Re:The point
If people stopped smoking, there would be a savings in health care costs, but only in the short term. Eventually, smoking cessation would lead to increased health care costs.
THIS. There are literally dozens of economic analyses that have concluded the same thing. In fact, over 20 years ago, it was debated whether to bring this argument up in the Big Tobacco litigation (see, for example, this NY Times article from 1996). More recent analyses (such as here and here) agree. Philip Morris even commissioned its own study a while back to argue in the Czech Republic that it was actually saving society money because of decreased lifespans. But the study ended up just making cigarette companies look even more hated, so they backed off of it.
Bottom line is: "healthy" elderly people still cost society a LOT of money to keep alive -- in pensions and Social Security, in assisted living, and yes -- even in generic health care. If you include all of those things, there's NO QUESTION that smokers cost society less by dying earlier.
But even if you take health care costs on their own, it's pretty likely smokers cost less. "Healthy" older people end up living longer and needing hip replacements or treatment for minor cancers or hospitalization over a cold that turns into pneumonia (which doesn't happen as often with younger folks) or whatever -- that stuff adds up greatly over the years. Add an extra 5 or 10 years of "elder care" for non-smokers, and on average those "healthy" people will cost more than the additional costs from a smoker who dies early from a heart attack or whatever.
None of this is an argument in favor of smoking. And perhaps there's still some ethical argument to tax smoking more in order to promote "healthy" living or whatever, which perhaps some governments will make. But let's not be disingenuous about blaming smokers for overall societal cost, when they're mostly "taking one for the team" and giving up their Social Security or whatever for you.

Re:STOP MOVING THE GOAL POST!
The 10% of men number you pulled out of your ass can be explained by "dudes that can't get laid any other way" pretty easily. Yes, it's higher than women who don't see the current feminism as beneficial or helpful for society (and that poll is from a mostly leftist site!). Why not search for the number I gave you instead of trolling you twat!
The poll you gave on abortion being illegal is also skewed, but dumb fucks like you can't figure out the game. Try this one. Making abortions criminal as a general rule is not the same as making them illegal especially when there are circumstances where most pro-life people have no problem with abortion. Pregnancy from rape and incest for example, or in cases where the mother's life is at risk. Quite a different from people who have the perspective that "I can't afford the baby" is not a good enough reason to have an abortion, let alone "I don't feel like being responsible for my choices.
I won't answer any more of your dumb ass trolling, you dumb fucking troll. You can go find facts if you really want to, but like most useful idiots you won't.

I'm sorry, your 7% number was pretty obviously made up or talking about something completely different. I mean 10% of American men consider themselves strong feminists.
You really expect me to believe you found a legitimate poll that suggested only 7% of Americans support the feminist movement?
As for abortion they don't have the exact question to match the direction of the Trump administration, but only 19% of Americans think abortion should be illegal.

Not only are you neck deep in the fallacy septic tank, you're diving deeper by emphasizing your own attempt at false equivalence.Which is pathetic, I know, but what CAN you do?
You can't just pick ANY random statement by ANY previous president and say "See? That's a lie." - at least 50% of those won't be lies.

You guys wanted more power to the states, right? Now see how that works out for you.

Trump kills TPP, giving China its first big win
https://www.washingtonpost.com..."Economists have warned that many of Trump’s proposals — including suggestions that he would impose blanket double-digit tariffs on goods from Mexico and China — could backfire on the American economy by causing prices to rise or igniting a trade war,"
A retreat from the TPP now gives Beijing, which has been negotiating its own trade blocs, a chance to fill a void. Since Trump's election, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia have shifted toward China's proposed Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which would also reduce tariffs — without many of the standards put in place by Obama's plan — and redirect Asian trade China's way. Other nations in the region are likely to follow suit.

Re:Where's the president
So why not "outsource" to somewhere cheaper in the center of the country. Just pick a breadbasket state and go for it. The map here is a good reference: How Much $100 is really worth in every state. Think of it like playing with exchange rates, but domestically.
