Re:Squij was worse
Even on the 2600, there were worse games. This might be the worst of the first-party titles, but in no way is it the worst 2600 game of all time, or even "the Worst Computer Game In History". But it might be the most over-published bad game in history, if you don't count 2600 Pac-Man (Atari supposedly manufactured more copies of Pac-Man than consoles to play them on!), which was at least playable. And ET's badness was mostly due to the two-month schedule imposed to get it out for a Christmas release. Most 2600 games took about six months for a single developer (no artists; the developer usually had to make the graphics too!).
Star Fox by Mythicon was arguably the worst, and their other two games, Sorcerer and Firefly were basically the same game with different graphics.

With Woz, we'd get actual great Apple products, they just wont appeal to Apple's core audience who dont care about reliability, modability and usability and just want to be told they're awesome for buying Apple.
Hrrm. What was the last half-way decent product by Woz again? That remote control in the 80s? Heck, if Apple followed Woz or you on how to build a car, The Homer would look better.

This is why it's taken so long to make a World of Warcraft movie. They spent the last decade genetically altering babies to make them into very fast growing orcs so they wouldn't have to rely on CGI.

Re:No comparison
That depends on what you consider to be the hard bit.
I think you'll find that the "hard bit" is putting a payload into orbit and, for extra points, not needing twice as much fuel as a disposable rocket (which is why SpaceX are trying to land on a barge in the middle of the sea rather than flying all the way back to the launchpad).
Otherwise you're just complaining that this was a feat performed with a blue rocket rather than a green one.
Actually more like comparing a silver, red and blue rocket with an orange one.

Re:Basically noThe car analogy "license plate" is the IP address. And your license plate is captured by several systems without an infraction taking place. Toll systems, and general capture in some jurisdictions, red light cameras, some of which store video continuously, highway traffic systems, and likely more. But the analogy is flawed. License plates tell whose car is being driven, not who is driving. So my Internet License plate at the moment would say, for example, Charter Communications. My actual identity is more akin to my drivers license, which is private, even to the point of providing RFID shield envelopes for it at the DMV. This would be like the government providing me a means to anonymize my identity when I don't want to display it. So the Department of Homeland (Doh!) is proposing something akin to needing to present my drivers license constantly. In the case of my drivers license this promotes identity theft risks. In online cases it would do the same, except be much easier. Courts allow anonymity is protected in speech. cites here and here, internet specifically mentioned.
One generally accepted set of metrics is:
(1) that the plaintiff undertake to notify the anonymous posters that they are the subject of a subpoena seeking their identity; (2) that the plaintiff specify the exact statement alleged to constitute actionable speech; (3) that the court review the complaint and other information to determine whether a viable claim against the anonymous defendants is presented; (4) that the plaintiff produce sufficient evidence to support, prima facie, each element of its cause of action; and (5) that the court then balance the First Amendment right of anonymous speech against the strength of the plaintiff's prima facie claim and the need for disclosure of the anonymous defendant's identity.

Re:Oh give me a break
In other words, this is a (probably rare) legitimate application of copyright law, that hinges on whether the music company had the right to offer the song to CBS. Seems fairly straightforward.
So, my question is this: What compromises a "Song"? The lyrics, the melody, or the combination of both?
The reason I ask is that according to this website, the genesis of the melody for what we know as "Warm Kitty" (a/k/a "Soft Kitty") SUPPOSEDLY is this relatively ancient (19th Century) Polish children's song. Personally, I don't get it, because, even with my limited ability to read musical notation, it sure doesn't look like the same melody-line, nor is it in the same time-signature.
Of course, the Google translation of the Lyrics is utterly hysterical:
"Hatch cat n gossip and flashes // . Ladna is not a long song"

Re:Moo
Perhaps.... and while it is doubtlesss fair to acknowledge the existence of such incompetence, I believe it is gross underestimation of other people to assume that most who work at a technical company like Adobe are certain to be too clueless to realize that publicly flaunting wealth that might get a person in trouble with their boss is unwise.
That level of intellectual vacuity is what you'd expect from a fictional character in a comedic situation where the audience or reader is expected to laugh at the character's outlandish stupidity behind the character's choices more than it is a realistic expectation of an actual member of society. While I won't dismiss that it's certainly possible... but I wouldn't expect it to be particularly likely.
Please note, Gus Gorman from Superman 3 is *NOT* a typical example of an individual that pulls in a salary like that of an average Adobe employee.

Re:Summary insufficient, click through the link.
I think I might be arguing at cross purposes here.
You made what I assume was sarcastic comment (But no, it's pretty obvious that one dongle joke can cause a young lady who had a driving passion to simply drop it) that implied (at least to my ear) that it was ridiculous that a dongle joke would drive such a person out of the industry.
My reply is that the vast majority of programmers aren't there with a driving passion, and thus, yes, juvenile antics might make them look elsewhere.
I'm not interested in working with a person who cannot withstand anything they consider negative. What is this disinterested person going to do when the boss - let's assume female - gives them a task they simply are not that interested in doing?
Just quit? What if a man asks this woman on a date? She just moves back in with mom nad dad? What if there is just a man she doesn't like? Again - gone?
A person with no drive that is easily turned away is no loss at all.
I have no idea where you got any claim from me about who was doing the harassing from. Unless proven otherwise, I assume that you are professional in your conduct.
More professional than most. I will work to get the job finished, and do an excellent job as well. I have no time for the easily dissuaded however. Tell me though. In your plan, my intolerance for that sort of person, and your wishes to include almost disinterested people - since these people include women, am I being sexist by not wanting the disinterested in my team? I'd hire an interested, dedicated female at once. A female who is just there to pick up a paycheck - am I sexist for not hiring her?
Women are somehow utterly destroyed by Lena Söderberg's face and dongle jokes.
Can we get real here?
Note - I supply citations.
Real? Take it up with these people:
http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/...öderberg%27s_photograph
http://www.cmc.edu/news/every-...
Ironically, the last one, in an effort to portray the photo of Lena as sexually offensive, the ladies decided to use a photo of Fabio. Was that sexist on their part?
Mathematics, computer science and engineering fields, Needell says “are dominated by men. But people are trying to recruit women, and the way not to do it is by showing this (image).”
“I don’t know if the Fabio image will take off but I think what it will do is stick in people’s minds. And when they think about using the Lena image, they might think (about) using at least a neutral image.”
And then maybe the next woman to take a computer science class won’t have to hear the snickering. Maybe, she’ll feel just a little more welcome among the mathematicians, scientists and engineers.
Tell me why this is not real? This links are not made by me - These links are made by people who are in agreement with you, and they are indeed, real opinions, real links.
And it is such fail. Now, here I am, a heterosexual male, and I see the photo of Fabio. I see him. I say - "Okay, I can do my image processing experiments with this." I don't take the least bit of offense to the photo. A good looking guy. Right away, their attempt at reverse sexualization is a huge fail because most men are not insulted, nor do they feel demeaned by that photo.
Perhaps these ladies, who feel threatened by a photo of Ms. Söderberg, are transferring their feeling threatend to men, because they believe men think the same way. The answer in a silly form, is probably this: https://imgur.com/gallery/O9Y5...
I don't fel the least threatened by He-Man. Unrealistic portrayal of presumed desireable male features. I find Barbie is an unrealistic doll

Re:I.S.I.S.
Different AC here (same AC as the one who wants Dice to fix their fucking shit so I can use my account again).
I'm not sure I can get behind what you're suggesting. As somebody will eagerly point out, people who are atheists have all the same emergent behaviors when caught up in a Narrative. Be it social justice bullies, Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, various Southeastern Asian regimes, you name it.
I once had a vision of living around the 10th century (our CE) in a world where Plato didn't get his way, Hypatia was defended and saved from the (Christian) terrorists who killed her in our timeline, and things went vastly differently. It was not a detailed vision, more of an impression or daydream I suppose. Humanity had advanced to nanotechnology. Of course, the person who first set foot on the moon had a different name and a different mission, and the atomic bomb had been invented not as a weapon but as an asteroid mining tool.
Of course, I realized I was fantasizing about a different species where the people could be swayed by reasoning, logic, and evidence and were repulsed by Gish galloping and appeals to emotion.
Perhaps I was thinking about life on Vulcan? Maybe one day we'll see a teacher like T'Plana-Hath emerge. Currently, I'm thinking it's far more likely that there will be a full, global nuclear exchange by 2025.

Re:For the record
Next question: Would a world where people can make and sell Trek TOS fanfic (both crappy and masterful) really be that bad? Are we, the public, better off this way? We only get new material once a decade or so, and it is almost completely immune to the natural market forces that rule media in general.
Such a world would have been pacified by the Federation long ago under General Order 24.

If Rey and done anything or they said anything in the movie to justify her massive immediate mastery of the force, it would have helped a lot. As I said above, a trivial example would have been a scene of her force leaping in the ruins of the StarDestroyer. Another trivial example would have been a scene of her mind controlling the food vendor for a little extra food.
But instead there was nothing. It was as bad as Chris Pine in Star Trek. A completely unqualified, untrained person drops into the role and out performs people with years more experience and training. I know from experience in the SCA that someone with even a few months training and experience is going to cut a novice to pieces in seconds. You have no muscle memory. You have no reflexes. And you have no clue.
And neither did Rey.
Fin... was less clear. He was trained and experienced and probably had several kinds of martial arts training which might have included Kendo.
But to show him getting owned by another storm trooper and then holding his own against Kylo Ren was dubious. He should have show skill and won the battle against the storm trooper and then he would have had more credibility. But at least he wasn't un credible. Just a bit of a stretch. -
