I was going to post this exactly. If you want to stop spam, cut out the financial benifit.
The second the _sellers_ start getting arrested, spam will drop off dramatically. Its supremely easy to figure out who is selling this crap. Why not just slap some handcuffs on the offenders.
Suddenly, noone is available to write that $100,000 check to spammers.
You mean the thing you can copy perfectly at zero cost an inifite number of times is going to be the thing you pay for, yet the super-complex physical object is the one that will be free?
I'm sorry, I dont buy it.
You can _offer_ that, but I dont think it will take off. I believe the potential was there, but right now open source software is on a roll. Firefox being the frontrunner.
With the upcoming economic crunch (due to raising gas prices) people are going to be cutting corners everywhere. Getting used hardware and running free software on it is a friggin _fantastic_ low cost method of running your server/office client/game machine/whatever.
We are the children who grew too fast We are the dust of a future past We raise our voices in the night Crying to heaven And will our voices be heard Or will they Break Like The Wind We are the footprints across the sands We are the thumb on a stranger's hand We made a promise in the night Swearing to heaven Is this a promise we keep Or one we Break Like The Wind Hey! We are the guests who have stayed too long We are the end of the endless song We send our hearts into the night Soaring to heaven And will out hearts still beat on Or will they Break Like The Wind Ooh, Break Like The Wind.
Does this mean independant people can take these sources, remaster them, and release them on dvd for a fee?
Let me take a step back for a second.
Sometimes I picture what it would be like if the current copyright laws were re-written so that ownership only existed for, oh, 15 years. Would a new set of industries pop up that release shows on various media formats?
For example, one company could be comitted to getting the content to you in the most inexpensive way possible. Another could be obsessed with video quality and extras (read: fanboys and their tv shows) and other such developments; they would charge a larger fee. Not to mention "fan sequals" and indy spinoffs.
I see a great potential for a new market emerging from releasing open content like this.
While being an EXTRAORDINARILY racist film, Birth of a Nation was an incredible production.
Massive cast, war scenes, and groundbreaking many levels. Many considered it the greatest film of all time, when it was released.

"Film scholars agree, however, that it is the single most important and key film of all time in American movie history - it contains many new cinematic innovations and refinements, technical effects and artistic advancements, including a color sequence at the end. It had a formative influence on future films and has had a recognized impact on film history and the development of film as art. In addition, at almost three hours in length, it was the longest film to date. However, it still provokes conflicting views about its message."
As a fan of the old metroid games, I compleatly disagree with you.
I found metroid prime to be slow, un-engaging, and fairly boring.
Very pretty, yes, but it didnt have the metroid "funfactor" to me, a seasoned metroid player. I still think that super metroid (3) is the best one.. with zero mission coming in second.
This will be an interesting competition. MANY technologically superior handhelds have gone up against nintendo, only to be defeated soundly.
Also realize that, if properly utilized, this touch screen could adapt the handheld to any control scheme necessary. Heck, Maybe in the future all controllers will be touch screen, and the button configurations will depend on the game programmers themselves.
We shall see.
Now. Gimme some ubisoft news. (play "beyong good and evil.)
Well, many/most of gollums facial expressions were done by andy first, then animated in post using his already-made expressions as a base.
Yes, including the "puffy cheeks" when he first tries to grab the ring off of frodo.
Quiet you.
As I said before, Keep up the good work. All of this pimping of apple has made my apple stock rise from 19 to 29.
Keep pimping apple. You are making me a happy camper.

Spend fool! Spend!
:)
:O
For every silly apple doo-hickey you "cool shiny things" obsessed geeks buy, my apple stock goes up a quarter of a point!
bought at 19, its now at 29. I LOVE YOU GUYS
I sure as hell dont.
:)
I mean, I'll be fucking dead. I wont give a crap about anything when I'm DEAD.
Sure, it might be a selfish thing to say. But its the truth.
I don't care what happens with my stuff after I'm dead. I'LL BE DEAD.
Or you could watch it on cartoon network for.. well, your already-paid cable bill.
And, for the record, the inuyasha dvds are more expensive in japan.

And some of us have been regularly trading those tracking cards with friends every 2 months or so.
Imagine the wierd data on _those_ cards.
Odd.
:)
One of my old profs used to be an ex-pixar animator. He left because of exactly what you describe above. Lack of artistic freedom.
Of course, this was back when pixar was doing tv commercials
Im curious.

Just animate tux!
He could be a national icon, like mickey mouse or toucan sam.
The question is, what kind of voice would he have? A swedish accent? bork bork bork?
"You shot the zombie flanders!"
"He was a zombie?"
What did the vegetarian zombie say?
"Graaiiiinnnnsssss"

Old unix hackers don't die, they just turn into zombie processes.
I'm sure I'm missing a ton.

ack just saying.
This is not news.
Squaresoft tests every single console that gets released. Its how they do business.
Didnt anyone else see that battle from ff5 demo, for the n64?
While this story has adapted well to radio, book, and even a campy TV mini-series, what is the probability of hollywood trashing this?
Id say higher then turning a nuclear missle into a confused sperm whale.
I hope that this doesnt wind up sucking. But, unfortunatly, I think it will.
Oh well.
Uh.
Isnt the DJ Scene pretty much keeping records alive?
One Google Search Later...
An interesting development.
PSP has around 100 signed development houses making games for the system. Now, so does nintendo, but this will be a unique situation.
Personally, Im rooting for nintendo, but I think the PSP will "win," for the same reason the ps1 "won" over the n64. The storage medium.
We shall see. We shall see.

and wipeout! Im happy about that, taitai! :D
I suggest taking these specs with a grain of salt.
Sony has a history of promising incredible things, and then backtracking on them a week or so before launch.
"ps2 renders toystory in real time." Indeed. PSH.
I wouldnt be so quick to judge.

Oh shut up.
Its small. Its got its own screen. Therefor it is portable. I dont care what nintendo's marketroids (or president, for that matter) says.
I call it like I see it.
And this looks fantastic.
Yes... because... waiting... for... text... to... scroll... by... slowly... isnt... at... all... annoying...
Not to mention that they didnt even FINISH the game. That 2nd disk was so annoying.
Not even worth it, if you ask me.
