Like when US people call themselves "Americans". But that's a separate issue.
Go read a list of the full name of every country in the Western Hemisphere (or the world, for that matter), and let me know how many have "America" in the name. I will agree to call anyone from any one of those countries "Americans".
(Hint: "United States of America" is the entire list. Change your country's name from "Republica de Chile" to something like "Republica Americana de Chile", and maybe we'll talk, though even then I'd say "United States of America" would take precedence, not least because there's no other "name" in "USA".)
Indeed, CGW was the best in its day. Haven't read it for several years now, so I don't know how good it is anymore, but during the '90s it was infinitely better than PC Gamer.
I like rebates. Lower price than what a normal sale would be. They're hardly a scam -- if you're too lazy to take the 5 minutes to put the form together it's your own fault. I've done probably 50 rebates over the past few years, and only one of them did I never receive (though now that I think of it, it might have been from OfficeMax, so...). It's easy money for me at the expense of lazy people.
Now, if they're going to have the exact same prices, just without the mailing in, that'd be great, but I highly doubt that's going to happen.
I'm sure it was difficult to manage to get in a shot at Bush when he does something that's pretty much universally a good thing, but congratulations, you managed it, even if it doesn't, you know, make any sense. (As has been pointed out, he's setting the policy for the executive branch of the federal government, of which he is the head. It's not legislating any more than your boss saying that you can't read Slashdot at work.)
I wondered when someone would bring up Bob. This sounds very similar... trying to make an "easy" interface that looks like something from the physical world. I would guess this one finds the same fate as Bob, except perhaps its creator won't marry Bill Gates.
I don't know why they don't do that either, but you're mistaken a bit, there is no national sales tax in the US. States have varying sales taxes, ranging from none to 8% or so.
Most schools, even in areas that are highly "liberal," try to control their students' thoughts and actions to the point of extreme.
Not sure why you put "even" there... in my experience "liberal" organizations are always the worst about controlling thoughts, whether schools or anything else.
Whoever decided "Core 2 Duo" was better than "Core Duo 2" is probably left over from the early days, when the successors to "8086" became "80186" and then "80286".

Beat me to it.
:)
And I'm not even that old, but my dad introduced me to it.

I dunno, beam the information into space and store it as a tachyon field in a quasar.
But the Chinese could probably reverse the polarity of the deflector dish and censor it anyway.
Since we're already debating 'petitio principii' (a.k.a. 'beg the question') in this article, here's another one for you to look up: 'non sequitor'.
I doubt Vista is even the most secure MS OS... there is no way you could haxx0r my MS-DOS 5.0 box!
losing San Francisco and New York to rising water levels.
Ok, but surely there would be negative consequences too?
It will run all these games with no problem! And obviously you'd never want to play anything else.
Of course, no self respecting PC gamer would buy Halo anyway.
invest in basic research trying to solve the "energy input > output"
Lisa, in this house we obey the laws of thermodynamics!

Well, then you're probably a dumbass. *shrug* Your loss.
More likely though, you're about 17 years old and think "KILLING HOOKERS, WOO".
"Mature" games my ass.

"We'll put the number in the MIDDLE! BRILLIANT!"
Plus, Walmart + Linux = lol.
LOL is right! That'd certainly never happen!
Somehow I'm going to go ahead and doubt that it's the Nintendo that is preventing you from getting girls.
"So, airlines are going bankrupt all over the place, ticket sales are down, and we're still in no position to catch terrorists."
"That sounds bad."
"But there is good news."
"What's that?"
"I just saved a bunch of money on datacenter operating and upgrading costs by switching to Linux."
lol, I thought the same thing. Tomorrow:
"Wisconsin sets air speed limit for flying cars at 400 MPH"
Was waiting for someone to bring that up. I loved Planetfall.

Do you want to eat the red goo, the brown goo, or the green goo?

It's been "corrected", and it's STILL wrong. Jim Barton, not Burton.
Way to go, Zonk.
*slow clap*
(there were supposed to be html tags in there, but Slashdot ate them. ah well. I fail it.)
I've found thier top-secret code:
