    unlike other contemporary "action" directors attached to the franchise (Brett Rattner, McG), Brian Singer actually knows how to competently direct an action scene, as well as how to control actors to get decent performances out of them. He can rake in the big bucks, while keeping the critics relatively happy.

    They gave the main character a name, thus depriving him of his everyman status. True, it's a generic movie name, and he may not have a last name, but he's no longer anonymous.

    for a look at how to really adapt videogame culture into a movie, check out Olivier Assayas' demonlover. It mimicks the lifestyle/experience of playing a video game and surfing the net, with things bouncing off each other and not necessarily making sense in the context of the whole movie.

    which rapper will have a co-starring role? Given the director's filmography, I think it's safe to assume there will be one. I'm putting my vote on Ja Rule, but I've been hearing good buzz about Nelly. Not for his rapping or acting, though.

    neither version will be any good. Hines is a no-name foreign director who isn't French, Taiwanese or Iranian, so it can't be good, and Speilberg is disliked by the art house crowd (except for A.I.) for his inability to confront adult issues.

    True story: At work last week, this girl was complaining because the system administrator uninstalled weatherbug after she left. She was upset because she wanted to know the temperature outside. Nevermind that she works indoors, that there are windows 15 feet from her desk, and she can walk another 15 feet and actually get outside. In her mind, weatherbug was crucial to her day.
