You're completely missing the point. "Our main focus is shifting from providing a distribution for old hardware to a functional yet modular distribution focused on getting out of the way and letting users use their computer." The important part here was that they are no longer going to give a crap about old machines. Yes, LXQt may be coincidentally lightweight, but doesn't mean old machines will be catered for in future.

No matter how good a product is, you will always find some jealous plonker on the Internet who will be as argumentative as. Some people come online just to vent their frustrations and let off a bit of steam. Attacking people and looking for negatives in everything is an easy way to do that.

  23. You shouldn't just use one service on 'Why You Should Not Use Google Cloud' (medium.com) · · Score: 1

I worked at a Hydroelectric project and used GCM to alert people when the values of PLCs hit certain thresholds (low voltage, high temps etc). There is no way I would just use Google for this though. These alarms are important, you should never just depend on one service. We also had a directly connect pro-face (with alarms) screen in the control room as well as various live graphs, android apps and widgets and email alerts. So if Google Cloud Messaging went down there were still other ways to detect a problem.

  25. I suspect that when you click "Do not allow" it means the ads displayed aren't based on 3rd or 1st party tracking cookies. So the ads will still be displayed, just that they will be less relevant to you. They wont be collecting data about you. GDPR doesn't ban ads, it prevents illicit data collection and storage.
