    Can the physics gurus please put cubic micrometers in perspective for us common mortals? Is that as big as a grain of rice or a head of a pin?

    I thought red-shift was caused by the direction and speed the object is traveling in relation to us, not its distance.

    It's both actually. Due to the expansion of the universe, objects that are further away from us are moving away from us faster than closer objects. Hubble's Law

    Actually, if people aren't running the lights they make it more likely to run the light by shortening the yellow light. Several cities have been caught doing so already.

    The original DS came out in 2004, the DS Lite in 2006. Two years for a consumer electronics product is a reasonable cycle. Do you also complain about auto manufacturers producing new models every year?

    My biology prof. last semester told us that rats have a fairly high cancer rate. Leave lab rats alone, and they'll all eventually develop cancer.

    This is why science uses control groups, so we can compare the effects of what is being tested against a baseline.

    What on earth are you talking about? CPU power pointless? I understand joe user doesn't max out his P4 typing in Word or playing solitaire, but there are many, many people for whom the CPU is still a bigger bottleneck than anything else on the system.

    Is there any centralized coordination? Isn't there a CEO of Sony corporate who keeps his divisions in line with the goals (i.e. bottom line interests) of the company as a whole?

    Wired did an article about the fighting within Sony. Basic idea: Sony can keep fighting itself and fail, or it can embrace new technology and win.
