2. The system administrators, WHO WANT TO KEEP THEIR JOB, are going to go into a tirade of how he subverted their systems and purposely used "nefarious methods" to break system security, etc, etc. Basically, it's politics here - they don't want to look bad and/or lose their job so they will do everything in their power to make him look like a bad guy (which, to some extent, he is).
True dat.
Did some penetration testing in the late 90's for a small contractor, and I can tell you from experience that system administrators HATE auditors.
It is fun to think about corporate types getting reamed over stuff like this, but as many have already pointed out, the little guy is always the one who gets the shaft.
How about stiff fines for companies that do not disclose breaches within a short period of time? Possibly 48 or 72 hours, to give the I.T. staff time to properly evaluate the situation?
You know that if some sort of criminal charges came from a security breach, it wouldn't be CEOs and CIOs going down. It would be us.
Reports suggest Bill Gates will also appear in the ads, which, given the comedy timing he displayed in his 'Bill's Last Day' video, and the deadpan manner of Seinfeld, could result in a huge hit for the company."
When you say "hit", do you mean "hit" as in "ZZ Top's Greatest Hits" or is it more a "getting hit with a chair" sort of thing?
So what if I had an account a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away, and the email address for the lost password dialog is a now-defunct free email service?
Dialup will allow you to send an audio stream at a low bitrate, as long as you run your streaming server off an external server you should be fine.
Had that setup around 2001, it worked pretty well as I recall. Was using Windows and Winamp at the time.
Now my office is Linux-only and the best tool I have been able to find for GUI managing of streams is DarkSnow/DarkIce combo and it is somewhat lacking. Know of anything better?
Specific instances of police abuse of authority does not prove that "all police are evil and should be punished." If anything police are proven to be human. The cops involved in that incident should have been fired and/or charged, and I don't disagree with that. However, saying all police are bad from a specific instance is like saying all black people are bad because a black person robbed you one time. Yes, I'm equating hating the police to racism because they're both discrimination against a group for acts by individuals.
Perhaps we should say that all police have a great potential for corrupt behavior, and should be monitored closely.
From what I gather (mostly from 3rd parties, with some hands-on) "the Vista experience" varies according to the hardware in the machine.
The only Vista box I ever had any experience with was my wife's laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1501 that she bought early last year. 2 gigs of ram, dual-core 1.8 ghz chip, nice fat fuhitsu hard drive, and it ran so slow that we ended up replacing it with Ubuntu.
A few of my buddies who are hopeless Windows users have Vista machines and one has no problems with it that I hear about, the other two have intermittent issues which are mostly hardware related.
Having bought a new computer only once (1991, Tandy 1500HD) and having owned at least several dozen at various points, I can tell you that old hardware is still viable as long as it functions properly.
Now that Linux is so easy to get and (relatively) easy to learn, old hardware has become even more valuable. What, your 486 won't run Vista? Well then, you are in luck, 'cause Vista sucks.
it is called svchost.exe

Go to work there making Microsoft money, and then slip in references to Ubuntu when the manager isn't around.
Don't touche me there!
What if the name was of a lawyer, and the address was of his/her legal office?
I love a good parody.

"Sure they do: snotty, good, small, and fake."
Sorry, only just woke up half-way down the comments. Are we talking about breasts again?
"Snotty" breasts?
On second thought, forget that I asked...

What was so shocking about it?
Did the videogame aliens crawl into the buildings and place cutter charges or something?
We're already there.
People who want an "easy" distro go with Ubuntu.
People who want stability run Debian.
People who want to tweak things, or who just like to type "make" (for whatever reason) have so many options that it isn't funny.

Does that mean I have to dye my beard black?
What does that make us who may have a girlfriend who dress in school girl outfits for us?
Lucky.

How this affects things like Internet website talk radio with no music and no commercials?
I am in the process of setting up a talk radio icecast server on a website and this is sort of worrying.
Anybody got a URL or two they want to share?

Anybody know of a decent RTS with LAN multiplayer that is Linux native? Even if it is not open source, I want it.
Trying to get my wife into playing games, but the closest I can find is Warzone 2100 and the multiplayer is still non-functional AFAIK
Remember that 55% were dumb enough to reelect bush in 2004 too.
Don't you mean 45% ?
Mr. Deeb's home lab likely violated the regulations of many state and local departments, although officials have not yet announced any penalties.
"He's been very cooperative," Ms. Wilderman said. "I won't be citing him for anything right at this moment."
Translation: If this guy tries to fight us on the illegal seizure of his goods, we will make his life hell with court dates and trumped-up charges.

If GMail went down, I would have to.. oh my god... open Thunderbird and look in the GMail IMAP folder.
