I used to take my daughter to Blockbuster and Hollywood Video when she was younger. But when the RedBox kiosks started popping up everywhere we when to those instead. Found them to have a good enough selection at a price neither of the traditional video stores offered and the late fees were much better. After S25 in fees accumulated Redbox says keep the movie it's yours! I've had late fees in excess of $85 at Blockbuster.
Combined with the Great Recession and the convenience of reserving a disc before heading out it was a no brianer. We weren't going to spend $4/gal gas video store hopping to spending 3x as much.
I do miss the stores tho. Some of my earliest childhood memories were family night and picking out a couple movies, one for the younger kids, and one for the older ones. We actually rented VCRs too!
They did the same thing to the curly Q bulbs. I still have two Phillips bulbs that still work after 20 years of daily use screwed into a vibrating nearly dead Genie Screw Drive garage door opener.
I was under the impression that each of the 3 redundant systems had their own set of sensors. Sounds like this particular system is not redundant and that they are now going to derive data from other sensors to compensate. I would feel a lot better if MCAS or any other system that takes control of flight also be triple redundant.
What is the "duct work" you are talking about? I just moved into a brand new Mark-Taylor luxury apartment last year. It was built in 2018 and the range hood only recirculates the air. It literally sucks it in from under the microwave oven, and blows it out the front towards the ceiling. The only filter is a chrome mesh, no charcoal or anything. No window nearby either. I pulled the range hood/microwave from the wall to see if they just forgot to rotate the fan module to direct the air to a duct in the wall. There is no duct in the wall. They did this intentionally. I called the city code department to find out if any codes were violated. According to city code as long as a filter exists then it is ok. LOL
Problem is the general public have more disposable income and are perfectly happy with lowest common denominator content. It's the same reason we lost the Discovery, History, and Sci-Fi channels. LCD content is safe, easy, and cheap to produce.
Sadly there isn't much hope for the future. Perhaps when AI gets advanced enough to generate custom movies on the fly, things will be interesting again.
In 1985 a guy came into our 5th grade class with a fancy end of the world simulator. It had dozens of dials and digital readouts. No scenario on that simulator showed this planet surviving beyond 2000. I believed this bullshit back then and it demotivated me considerably.
This is more of the same bullshit. It's all bullshit. Don't listen to it.
Bluetooth audio still sucks ass in 2018. Pitch stability is still a problem. How on earth have they not solved this? And who seriously thought that adjusting pitch was a good solution to dropped packets anyway? Probably one of the humans you describe with special powers to just ignore this.
Search is such a tiny part of Google so replacing with DDG isn't enough.
Gmail --> Protonmail Youtube --> Bit.Tube Maps --> Waze\H\H\H\H Well... I really hate that Google bought Waze Nest --> EcoBee, Honeywell, Ring Android --> Tizen, Gapps removed, Apple Waymo --> Tesla, Uber, etc
What sucks is that Google is really hard to beat. They have the best talent and it sucks that they are abusing their power like this. I keep planing on deplatfroming them but it isn't easy when it works so well. They know this and are not worried one bit.
Funny -- people in civilized countries pay LESS for insurance, yet have better outcomes than in the good 'ol US of A. I.e. longer life expectancy. Are you jealous?
Not every country subscribes to the Puritan idiocy that people's lives need to be micromanaged and every transgression against purity needs to be fined and/or punished.
And just how much do these "civilized" countries pay in defense to protect their snooty asses?
ECHO Echo echo...
The Internet by and large has become a leftist echo chamber. Trump supporters really couldn't care less that it goes up in flames.
They'll sit back with lots popcorn and watch it burn.

Shhh. This is too much for the TDS afflicted to take in.

A scam happened somewhere.
Too bad their phones courageously lack a port to connect these hypothetical "wired" headphones.
NYT is one of the last places with enough to pay for quality reporting and sees no benefit in diluting themselves.
NYT along with every "mainstream" news source died long ago.
It's all clickbait and nothingburgers now.

The censorship going on right now is scary.

And yet you sound just like them.

Move along...
The Russians have been at this for a long time. And for the most part have succeeded.

What's wrong with LineageOS?
It is fun to poke fun at the dongle wall in Apple Stores though.

If you haven't seen it PBS NOVA made a great documentary about these batteries:

Welcome to current_year my friend. You have been reported to the thought police for wrong think.
A Republican that sees nothing wrong with record labels destroying your computer apparently.
This was the default option on my account already.
And fewer USB ports!
