Could a spacecraft create it's own magnetosphere? The Earth's field is not that strong.. though it is huge. The power requirements and weight of such a device would probably make it unfeasible.
Digital TV is a wonderful idea, crystal clear picture and all
If only that where the case. Sky TV in the UK, the local satellite monoply, will use the absolute minimum bitrates that they can get away with. Still images are great but as soon as there is any movement the picture devolves into a blocky mess.
The picture has improved somewhat lately on certain channels but I still think the old analogue satellite had a much better picture. Sound on the other hand, is much much better on digital. Except for the radio channels. Some of them use horribly low bitrates.
But the bit that really gets me is the onscreen advertising they use. 'Press RED' or something equally silly will appear in large and colourful text throughout the program. Pressing 'backup' will hide it but only for a few minutes. As if onscreen logos where not bad enough.
Yikes.... getting offtopic:)
I can't see the UK switching off analogue until at least 2020. Digital here offers very little advantages.
Think of this as of IrDA interface. Most of the chipset is on-board, and what is missing is one small chip, one resistor, some wire and optionally a box and a couple of capacitors. Nobody seems to be complaining though.
Bluetooth would make more sense here, rather than 802.11.
Onboard soundcards (chips?) are rubbish, onboard NICs are quite often crap (not always), onboard modems are a joke and onboard video is nasty. Apart from some specific cases (VIA's mini-itx stuff) I think manufacturers should be moving away from this onboard-everything obsession.
PCI was invented for a reason! Customisability is what set the PC apart from the Amiga or similar machines!
His statement does not say anything about bad things. A statement does not imply its converse, or the contrapositive of its converse.

What I'd love to see is Google block all those stupid search sites... you know the ones that make there google result look like an interesting page but when you click it you get a page that has 50% adverts and some search results for whatever you where searching for...... those really bug me.
Being a resident of England (or should I say 'United Kingdom' in order not to alienate my Irish/Welsh/Scottish compatriates?)
Your a resident of both, in the same way your a resident of whatever county you live in. So saying your a resident of England is not alienating anyone else in the UK because when you say England you mean it. As opposed to those who live outside the UK who refer to the whole UK as England.

Going by that, I'd say he'd get quite a bit on that drive

Urge Free Software and Open Source developers to drop support for SCO Unixware across all softwares being developed

This would set a bad example. Open source software is exactly that, open. Start saying "you can't have it" and you begin to look like Microsoft.
Let them use GPL'ed software
The lastest firmware plugs the hole you can use to play around with the linux distro on the router. :(
Linksys also released enough code so you can make your own firmware. You don't need the ping hole anymore.
I thought they where moving away from space-based shows? Wasn't that one of the reasons they give for stopping Farscape?
Excuse me, must dash, my butler has just informed me that Mary Poppins has dropped in for afternoon tea...

All we need to do is build a big spinny machine, and send Jodie Foster to find out if they are really there.
... sheesh ;)
Suprised nobody thought of it before
