  1. Used to the noise on Completely Silent Media PC · · Score: 1

I realized this when my computer died on me one day. I never turn my PC off and that was the first time in months that my PC was off for the night. I couldn't not go to sleep that night. I got used to the noise so much that without it I kept tossing and turning the whole night.

The silence during the night creeped me out so much that I turned on my fan (in the middle of winter), took another blanket and only then was I able to sleep.

For those who don't really follow this game, here's a semi-latest tidbit. Paul Chadwick has written the story for the first year of the game. He is a very talented writer/comic book guy who has done work on Matrix 1 and other comics.

To answer the parent, there are 3 factions in the game. Machines, Zionites and Exile Programs, each trying to gain control over the Matrix. Plus there is a lot of flexibility in terms of customizing the skills of your character. You could "load up" skills before starting a session and trade them with other users, just like memory disks. The more you level up, the more memory units you have, the more skills you can use. Yes, it could be boring but it could also kick serious ass.

A lot of people are tired of fantasy mmorpgs. CoH was a breath of fresh air. I, for one, hope that sci-fi based games like AO (haven't played it yet) and MxO are decent enough to sustain a good user base.

I, whole-heartedly agree on this. Being a minority Canadian is not like being a minority American. Here I am treated like a human being first. Being brown in the US these days is not a pleasant thing. Even more disheartning is the Americans' inabilitiy to distinguish differnt races. A Sikh is not an Arab and an Arab is not a terrorist. Thats exactly the kind of attitude/violence/hate that begets the same.
But, I guess thats just the way it is down in US. I am Canadian and goddamn, I am proud to be one.

And its not like PS2 games have been bug free. At least, XBox has a platform that addresses these issues.

Besides being an interesting read, these articles give the players an appreciation of the hard work done by the coders/designers. Geoff has done such Behind The Games articles on other games including Black&White. I was so impressed by efforts of the developers and the main designer Peter Molyneux, that although I had a warez copy of the game, I went ahead and bought the game. Being a developer myself, I really wanted to see these guy's hard work pay off.
Again, thanks to Geoff for bringing these interesting articles to the public without which no one would have had a chance to appreciate the games in a different way.

Then why in the world they refuse to acknowledge the ratings on the games. The rating are there for a purpose. Of all the big games that are out/coming out, violence is a big part of them. And of course, as we all know from TV, sex follows. Read and understand the the ratings on the games and stick to them. Sell the games like cigarettes if you have to, just don't give me your double standards.

I really don't wanna see the TV Superman guy in the movies. He was just a wuss.
For Batman they need someone different than the previous types that played the role. The news about the movie is that Superman is the goody type and Batman is more dark, vengeful. So if they can pull this off, it'll spin Spider-Man in its own web.

And I'm really surprised everytime I read people saying "oh why would a third world country bring a [product/service] etc when they can't even feed their citizens". Sometimes it is best to help the people indirectly like bringing in a tool to help them learn and bringing new computer technology is the best way to do it.

India is the fourth largest economy in the world. This product is geared towards the the middle to upper class of the populace whose spending power is growing. And they are obviously educated. So this would make a good idea to bring a linux powered pda to the market.
