No way, Videotron charges 2 cents per megabyte (around 1.3 cents US), that's $20/gig over 6 gigs downloaded or over 1 gig uploaded. You can get them to cut the charges in half the first few times it happens, but eventually they'll put a note in your file saying you're a problem case and not to give you any discount. :)

I would also say the value lies in the amount of time the user spent building up his character along with the number of items and experience acquired. Those last two are most relevant. I don't think the size of the data is relevant at all. You can buy a full cd-rom for 50 cents at the store but the content is crap, or you can buy a 1 million dollar application that can fit on a couple of floppy disks. It's not the medium or size, it's the content... unless of course the medium contains large amounts of gold. :)

You're using an old game as an example. Many of the newer games can bring a Geforce 3 to about 30fps easily. Quake 3 running at 135fps doesn't mean much. There are so many factors that will slow down the game but provided a better visual effect or even a better game. Imaging if you could play Quake 3 in an open arena bigger than a football stadium online with 300 players and all details set to high. A Geforce 3 couldn't even handle this. Now when a video card that can handle this comes out, just increase the size of the stadium, add more players and maybe add a couple of special effects and there, you brought the new card to its knees. Repeat to infinity.

I intend to participate actively to the process leading to the certification of the private copying tariff. Consequently, this constitutes my formal objection to the proposed statement filed by CPCC.

I have read the information set out in the Board.s notice published in the Canada Gazette on March 9, 2002 with CPCC ' s proposed statement. I understand the duties that I undertake as an objector and intend to abide by them.

I do not wish to take part in the pre-hearing conference on May 23, however I do wish for my objections to be made part of the official records of these proceedings.

I feel for you guys, really! In Quebec, Videotron cable charges $30/month for cable internet acccess, (anotehr $15 if you rent the modem). That's canadian dollars.. (Approx $20/month USD for net access). On top of the the download speed is insane. You get burts of 400-600 Kilobytes/sec and a steady transfer at 300-350 Kilobytes/sec. (thats bytes, not bits). The only thing that sucks is the 16 Kilobytes/sec upload speed.
How do they do this? In your contract it states you can only download 6 gigs, and upload 1 gig in a month. That's really limiting of course but it is only enforced on the first and second generation Motorola Cybersurfer modems). If you go over you pay 2 cents/meg. That quickly gets expensive. With the newer modems there are no limits. (although technically the limits still apply).
So to all you Americans down south, look north for a good example of how to do broadband internet. The funniest thing is that everyone hates Videotron for "poor service" etc. (Actually, this summer service was very slow and laggy, but they have fixed the problems they were having.)

By this, I mean that they should recall every vulnerable CD off of shelves, and send everyone who they know has bought one a new copy that is already patched.

This really isn't necessary. When you do an install of Windows XP, it will (try) connect to Windows Update and patch it self as it installs.

In 40 years, new technology may make the b-52 obsolete so in 2040, they'll probably be laughing at the statement above.

The only reason it is still in use is because the USA has fought countries with limited resources after WW2. Vietnam (technically this goes with the Cold War), Iraq, Afghanistan. If (when..) they go to war with China, both countries have the resources for an arms race, producing new Anti aircraft defences and possibly making the B-52 obsolete.
