One more shout out for FastMail. I've been using them for about 6 months. They have an awesome service. I've had no down time and they work really well with IMAP clients (espically Thunderbird). I now have server based unified email on all clients (PC, web, and mobile phone--yes they have a WAP interface!).

Now, the only thing I wish they had was an LDAP server so that I could store my address book on the server.

FastMail rocks! (no, I don't work for them, just a satisifed customer).

I believe you have the way that post-humans will interact with the outside world when they choose to. Want to travel to Tokyo? Just start sampling the sensor grid there to and use it to drive your sensory inputs.

Of course we may decided that sampling the real world is not of much value (other than scientifically) once we have progressed to that stage. Who knows? Maybe Ray?

As I understand it, some of the other e-paper systems only require power when you want to change the image which is both a signifigant power reduction and also means the paper can hold an image when it's "unplugged".

In fact, Linux, *BSD, any OSS OS, should be held to a higher standard given the geeky, more vigilant nature of most OSS operators and the fact that it's "all open and most patches are released 3 seconds after someone finds a hole blah blah blah..."

Sysops should do their job, regardless of the OS--no apologies.

Component: Color and lumanence kept as seperate Components. Not smashed means there's no quality loss (or at least less).

Just for the record, Component != HDTV. HDTV may be delivered via component signal, however analog and standard def digital can also be delivered via component (ala S-Video, SDI).

Interestingly enough, there is composite digital video as well (D2) which is loads better than composite analog (although probabaly not used much anymore). However you still get quality loss after many generations of copying.

I used Rapsody for a while and I really liked being able to listen to a radio format (streaming playlist whatever) and then get info and purchase the song currently playing. I discovered a lot of new artists and songs that way.

The 30 second preview is nice, but I'd like to hear an entire song (in a no rights format--no random access, no replay ability, lower quality) and then decide to buy or not.
