Well, when i said KISS i was looking at it from a technological point of view, not the users point of view. Also, an XML file is just something the system can use and the more experienced people can use. Its if the users want a pretty app to be able to edit the xml file in someone, be it either drag and drop (which is not as simple as an XML file from a technological point of view) than so be it.

The problem with those mockups is that they seem specificaly tailord to GNOME. Ie it uses icons for HOME, Desktop, Most recent files etc but all of these are classic things that are integrated within gnome and no use to someone that uses blackbox or other light window managers as they're primary window manager.

Why cant we just get rid of the icons and by doing so cut down the size of the selector and simplly have a listbox of pre-defined locations to save files?

Also it would be good if that list could be changed by editing a configuration file, maybe an XML file?

    KISS

  6. XML has nothing to do with this post on CD-Rs and MP3s Not Hurting Record Sales · · Score: 1

Im not saying CD-R's and Mp3's are hurting records sales but im not saying they're not, but to simply say they're not because sales are still up is a little arrogant. Whos to say they wouldn't have gone up more if CD-R's and Mp3's wernt avaliable? I dont anyone could. We'll never really know what impact they've had one sales because interest in music has no doubt spured during the last several years and im not sure if this has anything to do with Mp3s but im sure it has something to do with technology in general. Its makes music more accessable, which Mp3s have had a big play in. So many mp3's are helping record sales, but at the same time, theres tons of kiddies who are ripping and not paying, as i used to when i was 16-20 years old :)

I know i dont make a lot of sense, i didnt want to because i like to confuse. But just imagine!

I believe it's already been stated you can boot off these as well, which is pretty cool.

Heres my amiga prediction. AmigaOS4 Shall be released this year, first as a Developer Pre Release CD for those who purchased the early bird Amiga's and then a free copy of the real CD will be released for those with the early bird systems.

It may work but it may not. A lot of people believe MacOS fans are the true fanatics, but you have to see what Amigaians will do to their 10 year old hardware to squeeze the last bit of jucie out of them, how they have their workbench hacked to fuggery and back to bring it close to a normal operating system. Amiga's have touched a lot of people and for some reason, a lot of people come back and visit every now and then, and some get sucked back in. Its a strange force, more powerful than any force in existance.

I'm not an Amiga lover, although i did own one. I conduct interviews with past Amiga developers and have fun in the forums, for some reason or another, i cant stop!

I feel market share is well.. not a good indicator, but you can assume something is secure just because it hasnt been broken into or has been found to harbour no holes/security flaws. That is, a product with less market share isnt likly to get as many people "carring" about it over something that has a large market share.

Its my beliefe no one really knows how secure MacOS/Linux/BSD are until they get some real userbase. Although, i feel as OpenBSD may have shown it is somewhat secure, but it'd still be interesting to put it under the same use that Microsoft Windows is used for.

Anyway, its like the fact that every peice of software has bugs. You'll never ever get a peice of software down to having zero bugs, you can only get rid of as much as you can and then stop worrying about it. The same goes for security holes, you'll never get rid of all of them and you 'll only know those ones that do exist through major use and testing and those that get used the most and tested the most are more than likly to show up the most bugs/security flaws.

    Thats common sense!

Im not pretending to know what im talking about but it sounds as if one day we'll be able to cut light right out of the sky for where we dont need light, like on the moon or other planets. I was going to say antartica or the ocean but then i thought we'd prolly all die in huge freek weather storms or feeze to death.

But being able to harvest light could be a pretty cool advancement for our growing energy needs. Maybe would could harvest it with huge satelites orbiting the sun and have the light transported back as high energy lazers?
